I lost someone....her name was Summer Bloom....S-" Icarus stuttered for a second, the continued, "She died in my arms, to the plague, the one I eventually cured.... we were to be married several weeks after her death..... and I did not only lose her when she died.. when she died she was preg- pre" Icarus couldn't finish the sentence.

*She watched as Icarus hastily walked out of the tavern to sit outside. Though his impressions spoke "leave me be" her inner alicorn sensed more then what his posture said...* He's so sad...*she turned to her mate* he's been through such horrors...just as we have...but his horrors he can't seem to heal from...*She fluttered out of her seat, pulling her hood over her head* I'm going to go out to talk to him for a bit. I'll be back soon

 

*She nuzzled Nights and headed out to join Icarus*

 

Mind if I sit down sir? *she asked him hummbly and sat down on the ground next to his bench* Forgive me for my assumption but...*pawing the ground* I noticed...your sadness at the mention when I spoke of my friend Skylar's wedding...*she looked seeing his eyes seemed to be focused on something else, a thought or image in his mind* You lost someone special to you...haven't you...*her eyes willowed with tears slightly...imaging that horror if she were to lose her beloved Night Lights* I'm...I'm...I'm so sorry...*she darted her head away from him, feeling ashamed of her tears for him knowing this wasn't what he needed right now* I...can't imagine losing my husband...I know the pain of losing a loved one...but not like that and...*She turned to him then, placing a hoof offeringly next to him* I want to help you...but feel powerless to do so...

*He watched as his white glowing mare trotted out after Icarus, smiling to her knowing her small gentle kind heart was up to its usual antics once again, then turned to the gryphon currently in charge of the bar. His eyes glared at Solo, feeling a sense of rivalry about him he actually enjoyed. He sipped the last of his cider, smacking his lips then gently got out of his seat*

 

Excuse me for a moment Skylar, I'd like to go speak to this gryphon running the place. He seems up my allie for a conversation don't you think? *Snickers as he eyed up Sole grinning with eagerness at having a predator like conversation* Feel free to come with me if you want Skylar, but I think we'll be talking more about...insticual topics.

 

*He confidently walked up to the bar to sit on a stool, promptly placing his mug down* Hey bar keep, the name is Sole is it not? *he smiled* May I have another round of cider? And um... if not too much, if willing to chat? Been awhile since I spoke to a gryphon...been almost 2yrs sadly, not since my wedding with my wife and spoke with another good gryphon brother of mine. Dunno if you heard of him, Captain Taylon of the Gryphon Hub?

sole looked up as the strange pony who decided to speak to him. Even though he looked just like a pony sole couldn't shake the feeling that there was something off about him. The way he walked, talked, and even spoke was like that of a predator. And even aside from that stuff he had an aura that he knew was definitely not that of a ponies. "Nope, sorry to say I've never heard of him. Honestly I'm not that well connected with other griffons, some of them kinda... Don't like my parents. Oh, and here's your cider." He said, as he handed him another glass

* He nodded  over to Night lights as he got up to leave towards the bar*   Think I will stay here for now friend, I doubt I would have much to say on that type of conversation  *Slumps back a little, propping his leg into a more comfortable position, the sling seemed to help but it was still causing a bit of bother to him, feeling like it was burning a little, he peered at it underneath the sling but couldn't see anything wrong so he just shrugged it off*

*After a few minutes he start to look a little bored when he hears the pirate whistling a merry tune, he taps his hoof to it gently and grins nervously over at him, he still remembered when he drew his sword at him but he knew it was in an attempt to diffuse the situation rather than hurt him. He gets up off the leather chair and hops over to the bar, leaning over to grab a fresh glass, he pours himself some more cider from the tap and leaves enough bits on the bar to cover it, he takes a swig and looks at the pirate nervously, watching him juggle the fire and whistle* Things sure are a little calmer here tonight aren't they?

*In an instant, unwantingly...she felt what he felt as he spoke of his story...She gripped her belly in imagining of losing a foal if she were to ever have one...then looked to the tavern...Everything went into slow motion as she watched her husband speak with Sole at the bar...She could see it in a flash of Icarus's story...

 

A plague, rummishes through the Tavern...melting every pony and gryphon's flesh away...and as the black evil fog of death reached her husband...he turned to her and smiled...before his flesh melted...and his bones bursted*

 

GAH *she pulled free of the vision she semi unintentionally shared with Icarus* by the princesses....*her bottom lip quivered...her eyes flowed...her front legs quivered in front of her, not sure if they could support her anymore. She turned to Icarus then, knowing this pain was flowing through him thousands times worse then what he was sharing with her then...Yet there he sat...sturdy and strong...with the only hint that he had suffered all, hidden behind his steel mask*

 

I don't know how I would go on after...after something like this...w-were to happen to me and my family...my friends...*she sobbed staring at him* My...father Fire Strength, he passed away in an instant...too young, a heart attack but...the pain was so much...to bare and yet...somehow his words still rang within me...to never give up, in everything I do...To this day those words still ring true to me...and I um...*her eyes boggled* I know...that this may not seem like much but...I believe strongly...that your lover, would have wanted you to go on...to move on with your life, to be happy...

Ah...well that's a shame, he's a good friend to me and my wife... weren't for him we wouldn't have been married *sips his cider* mmm thanks for the refill. I usually don't drink this since I'm a- *coughs* well I orginally wasn't from around here. I flew into Ponyville years ago, before I met my sweet Blissy. I live up in the caves and *coughs again realizing he's speaking too much* Ya heh... guess I'm not the average pegasi. But then again *he eyed the odd gryphon with curiosity* you have a very familiar physic about yourself. Are we sure we've not met before somewhere? Funny I have just the strangest feeling of deja'vu.

 

*He eyed the pirate next to him, drinking like a fish on rum and grinned to him* Also can't help but notice how so many seem to drink harder drinks here. Rum was never my drink either, never was a drinker to be fair *snickers* The ponyside of how things are done in this town rubbed off on me, I prefer sweet and savory drinks it seems.

Crimson nods and continues to juggle the ball of flames. "Yeah, they are...drinking alcohol can do that to a pony...after all, if drinking doesn't put you in a better mood, then why do it? Oh...and you don't have to look so nervous, you know...I'm not some mindless thug, I won't draw my sword again unless I need to, so don't worry...sorry about the whole threatening you thing, by the way..." he said.

Crimson then commented on the other stallions words. "Is that right? Hmm...well it makes sense, I suppose...but hey, my rule is live hard, drink hard...but then again, it's a bit pointless when it's nearly impossible for you to get drunk..." he said with a chuckle.

sole went quiet for a moment " the mountains? But ponies don't live there, only predators... There's something he's hiding alright. Maybe he can shapeshift like the old man..." He thought, before snapping back to reality "yeah, I'm positive we've never met before, I'm not good with faces, but I usually don't forget ones scent." He said with a shrug, before looking over at crimson " and I'll usually drink whatever, but rum isn't my thing honestly." He mumbled

*Grins at him, relaxing a little and resting his back against the bar, swigging from the cider with his good leg, making sure his injured leg was comfortable before he spoke* Don't worry about it, I wasn't acting like myself at all yesterday, I tend to have my freak outs like that now and again but i'm usually better the day after     *Takes another chug of his cider and wipes his lips dry, still watching him juggle* I'm sure you have seen worse than me in your travels though, a pirates life isn't always pretty I imagine   *Unconsciously plays with the pendant around his neck as he puts his empty glass down*

But then again I'm crying along with you which makes me quite the hypocrit... *she shrugged and pushed her hood down revealing her horn* You'd think being an alicorn would...be able to help others to remove this pain completely...but we can't...well I can't anyway...I only seem to sense it. Oh I was trying to make a point here!

Hmm oh well, must be my imagination *he abruptly and oddly shook his head like he would in dragon form, starting from his head down to his ridged maned neck to his tail before settling down again* I never forget a scent either, though yours is different to the one that reminded me...*Shrugs* it's silly to think I'd compare you to sucha being. Ran into him ironcially nearly 2yrs ago, he harassed me and my bride to be along with our friend while we were out on a journey. Let's just say he wasn't as much help if not a complete nusience. *Sips his cider* Oh this is so sweet! Love it so much, I regret not having it sooner!

I went from having a wonderful supportive mom and dad, a wonderful mare whom I was to be wed with, and I was learning medicine at the Stalliongrad University, but in a twisted turn of fate, I lost everything, my future wife, my child, my entire family. The university was burnt to the ground during a riot over food rationing after the town was quarantined. It also earned me this look... this scarred face of mine.... It was just all to sudden and, I know I should have let go by now, but it is just so hard." Icarus said. Underneath his mask, there was a steady stream of tears.

Crimson let's out a dry chuckle, his smile wavering slightly. "Hehe, yeah...I've seen a lot of horrible things in my time...a little too much, I'm afraid...it's almost more than a stallion can bare..." he said with a sigh, continuing to drink his rum, and juggle the flame. Only now, the flame was a dark blue in color.

His RIDDLES, weren't exactly helpful...rather then tell us of what was to happen...he played around with her and Skylar like they were his TOYS *snarls suddenly...but quickly recovers* Forgive me...*he breathed* Dunno what got into me... *he sat down and sipped his cider* I take it you met this...Discord...?

Volt heard his name in a whisper, he imediately turn and saw his wolf friend hidden in a coat in the darkness of the street.. he reacted without even thinking

 

"SETH!!! BUDDY! YOU ARE STILL ALIVE!!!"

 

VOlt launched himself against the wolf at high speed and when he was close he grabbed him in a tight hug

 

"oh Celestia i thought you did something stupid! here you hare! i am so happy! quick what the hell are you doing here in this cold?!? Let's go inside and take something hot ok? you gotta try Vin Brulè! it is from my country you will love it! come on! tell me what happened! ehi.. why that sad face?"

Seth sighed, pushing his fried off of him. He didn't want to let down his friend.

 

"Volt...I can't come with you. I can't come back with you again. I... I just can't. I can't trust myself any more. Not after last night." Seth said, looking to the ground. "I'm not safe here. Not to myself, but to everyone around me. I'm sorry."

Not at all *he sighed and pulled up another stool for his mate and for Icarus* And I'm fine Blissy really...just...annoying memories *he snorted out his frustration and gulped another swig of his cider* Gods...think I'm gonna need a barrel of this stuff. You said that the wolf Seth makes this? *He asked Sole eagerly* Well dang it...I hope he has a whole barn full of barrels like it, I think I want to buy it all and take it back on up to the cave!

 

Night Lights! *she elbowed him in the side* What you talking about...? I mean... *she darted her head down while pulling one of his large black ears, and whispers* you trying to blow the fact your a dragon? Ponies don't drink that much! It'd take months for us to finish off a whole tavern of apple cider!

 

It would...? *he shook her free from his ear and snickered* ahem...sorry yes um...I mean that as an exaggeration of course. But then again I'm not! I could just store it in my massive freezer I have hidden under som large boulde- OUCH! *he whimmpered when he felt a strong kick to his leg by his own mare* Oh come on now...that wasn't fair... I'm just complimenting Sole and Seth on their fine brews... *groans and feels weak from her sudden domiance* mares... *he whispered* almost as bad as dragon females...OUCH *he felt her kick him again*

So, I see you've come to join us friend? *Motioned over to Icarus and smiled* Don't worry about paying for anything tonight, we can cover it, though saying that your probably going to buy 10 pints aren't you ?  *He chuckles and winks wryly at the masked pony* Either way, it's just nice to have you here friend, it's the least we can do since you fixed me up after all

Icarus follows and unintentionally hear Night's and Bliss' conversation. He had met many shape shifters in his travels, so it wasn't surprising to him. He simply didn't react to it, as it had little effect on him.
