Bastion 414 January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 Tittle says it all but I am a pony artist who wants to take his artwork from paper to software so if there are any artists out there who know the names of some reliable programs I can use please let me know Honor to you all A samurai pyromancer? ProjectRKA 2,848 January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 (edited) Personally I'd recommend Photoshop for any kind of artwork. But, I'm guessing you'd want something for free (you could torrent it), so you could get Gimp, which is essentially a free version of Photoshop. Or, if you're after something relatively cheap, you should get Paint Tool Sai. Edited January 10, 2014 by ProjectRKA
Vinyl Scratch. 605 January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 It depends really, If you wan't to get into vectoring and such I'd suggest photoshop but for drawing with a tablet or something I would suggest paint tool SAI 1 "I want to live on mars so I'm closer to the stars." - Deltron3030
Bucky McGillyCuddy 956 January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 If you have a tablet I'd recommend Autodesk Sketchbook Pro which is a really good digital painting application I've used it a couple of times and even when using a mouse you can still get very smooth lines without any trouble or having to create paths. Otherwise if you want to create vectors and don't mind spending most of your time creating paths probably Illustrator is the best bet. 1 If you'd be so kind as to check out some of my drawings, I would really appreciate feedback. http://mlpforums.com/topic/82464-feedback-is-magic/?hl=feedback+is+magic#entry2127254 http://mlpforums.com/topic/82871-what-happens-when-a-pony-fights-a-griffin/?p=2178588
Grimm Cheater 16 January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 I mostly go old school myself with paper and pencil. And I was given Photoshop and Illustrator from a friend, but that's just me. They're plenty of other programs out there. All you need to do is look around, a tablet/pen can be handy but I could never get the hang of it. I just use my hand dandy mouse and keyboarded. Good luck on your search for what works for you.
Bastion 414 January 10, 2014 Author Share January 10, 2014 Thanks for the imput guys, I will probably go with Gimp as Christmas and new year spending for people have left me poor. You all get free brohoofs! 4 A samurai pyromancer? That's a bit overpowered. Fhaolan 4,484 January 10, 2014 Share January 10, 2014 To go along with GIMP, you might want to look at Inkscape. I find Inkscape easier to use for building the pure vectors, which I then bring into GIMP. I know you can do all the same things in GIMP, but I the way I 'think' seems to make Inkscape a bit more intuitive for me.
