gaming Final Fantasy VI smartphone port good or bad?

So yeah SquareEnix have decided to chuck out yet another smartphone port of the old ff titles, only this time it happens to be my favourite. Naturally it goes as far as your run-of-the-mill port tends to go what with a slightly tweaked translation and slight graphical "enhancements", now I am DEEPLY opposed to changing just about anything in ff6 and at this point I can't say i care for what they've done as far as visuals go but I'm interested to hear what anyone else thinks about this to try and determine if it's our standards that have gone down or if it's Squares. As a massive long time fan of ff titles I don't really mind what anyone has to say about any of them or whether or not they think things are looking as good as they could be these days but I digress, bottom line; i'm keen to hear from any fellow fans of mine!

I haven't played it, but if what you're saying about the translation tweaks is true, I probably won't get it. As a huge fan of VI's "Woolseyisms", I absolutely hated a lot of the changes that were made to the GBA port of the game, not the least of which being the censorship of the scene with Celes locked up under South Figaro. Some "ermahgerd, violence against wymmyn in vidyuh games!" SJW must've bitched to get that changed.

 

Until they release a port with the original SNES translation, I think I'ma stay away from any future ports of the game altogether and just stick with the original. (Unless they remake it for the 3DS like they remade IV on DS, in which case my compulsion to play a beloved classic in 3D will override my better judgment. )

It looks like crap, and the $16 price point is inexcusable considering you can get the it on the Wii and PSN for a lot cheaper($8 and $10 respectively)

 

I'll continue waiting for a remake of the game in vein of IV's DS remake or the PSP's Complete Collection on the 3DS/Vita

@Lowline Champ I agree that the gba port was terrible, absolutely destroyed the music

 

@Megas75 I've been waiting for a CC style remake of 5 and 6 for years but the graphics on these ios ports look so lazy
