Patterson watched as Galatea swatted the cupcake from Nano's hoof.

 

Pat: 'Oh dear, it's going to be one of those foals.'

 

He thought. Then, he looked at Nano, who was looking down at the cupcake. Nano looked strange, it was a look Pat had never seen before. No way! He looks... devastated?

 

Pat: "Gee Nano, I knew she programmed you to act as "pony" as possible, but I didn't know she gave you...emotion?"

Lost Thought tucked her list away and looked around at where she had woken up. As she took another look around, she couldn't help but think that this place seemed a bit more pleasant than she had expected. It seemed like she was behind someones' home. As she brushed herself off a little more, she hoped it would be someone that could tell her where she was. "I guess It would be a good start..."

Lost Thought was slowly making her way around to the door, when she passed a small window. Unfortunately, her curiosity got the better of her; and she decided to take a small peak inside before knocking.

"She did program him with emotions." Shardz said and explained.

"But currently, She cant remember that, because she took that fall.." She said, at a whisper.

"Gala, erm.. Uhh.. Your parents hired us as foalsitters!" She said to the filly. "They went to.. Erm.. Ah! Baltimare!"

Nano had resorted to turning down the sensitivity of his audio receptors, diverting energy from them until he could just barely hear the sounds around him - all to avoid damage to his sensors from the excessively high pitches of the filly's screaming. But when he heard a voice addressing him, he adjusted his sensors once more to be able to hear.

 

He then lowered his gaze to the ground once more as he answered softly, "Yes... She did. She had wanted to make me as realistic as possible. I remember when she told me that. She seemed so proud..." The memory brought a fresh pang of sadness for him, knowing that Galatea couldn't remember that moment anymore. She couldn't remember anything about him, despite being the one who had created him to begin with.

 

In the meanwhile, Galatea paused for a moment, staring at Shardz for a long while as she tried to decide whether or not to believe the mare. Choosing to accept those words, the filly was left confused, not recognizing Baltimare as the name of a place. There was also another concern on her mind.

 

"W... Why did Mommy and Daddy leave? They didn't tell me they were leaving..." The filly frowned, trying to figure out possible reasons. Nothing good came up in her thoughts; in fact, one of her first assumptions was that her parents had abandoned her, considering that she had been pampered and spoiled by her parents in her youth, and that they were almost always around to dote on her except for when her father left for work. But both of them, leaving without explanation? It just didn't make sense to her.

 

The filly whimpered, tears welling up in her eyes. "W-What's Baltimare? Why did Mommy and Daddy go there? T-T-They're coming back, right...?"

"Yes, they will be back, in about a year or so. They are on a Hugely important buisness trip! They just forgot to tell you, thats all!" Shardz said, to galatea. "Baltimare is a seaport town, and its a beautiful place." Virvidian, said, helping shardz to confort galatea.

"Until they  come back, we were hired to look after you."

Patterson facehoofed.

 

Pat: '"A year or so"? "They just forgot to tell you"?! Really?!'

 

He thought looking at Galatea, who was already very much distraught, and predicting an oncoming ear-piercing shrill, he covered River's ears.

Galatea's ears pressed flat against the sides of her head. "Y-You're lying!" she said, her voice shaking. "Mommy and Daddy wouldn't leave me like that! They wouldn't forget to tell me! ....W-Would they?" She hesitated, suffering a moment of doubt. Her parents clearly weren't anywhere to be found around here; they would have come by now. What if they had left her here without telling her, instead leaving her with a group of ponies she didn't know to look after her? Why would they do that?

 

She could only come to one conclusion: that her parents had not only forgotten to tell her, but had forgotten about her. That thought was enough to send the distraught filly over the metaphorical edge. She broke down in tears, her cries nearly as unbearable to hear as her high-pitched shrieks, especially to Nano. It hurt him inside to hear her cry like that, especially when he knew that he absolutely had no idea of how to help her. All he could do was sulk and turn down his audio receptors again so that he wouldn't have to hear it.

Lost Thought could feel the metal in-between her ear resonating with the shrieks. She had learned the hard way that her earmuffs only made a good amplifier at this distance. She fell to the floor in pain for a moment, and removed her wrench and cotton. "Ouch~" 

 

When she started to stand again and regain her hearing a bit, she couldn't help but feel slightly sympathetic for Galatea. From what she heard and saw, this was that group from earlier. She knew that Gateala's parents had nothing to do with this; but just the thought about a little filly, believing she was abandoned by her parents... The idea fazed her.

 

"... Well... You can't think inside your mind with some filly crying in your ear, and you ave no idea where to go..." She started to walk over to the door and gently knock, "Yeah, that's your reasoning!.. And stop talking to yourself, it's not healthy."

Shardz tried to confort her. 

"They forgot, because they were very very busy, and you were, asleep." Shardz said.

"I know, its a bit startling and a cause for concern that they didnt tell you, but they said it was important! Very important! So they told us to look after you."

Galatea looked up at Shardz with teary eyes. "B-B-But..." she stammered, but any words she would have spoken after that were lost to more tears as she continued to cry. The small filly was upset beyond the point of reasoning; anything said to comfort her or sway her from her irrational belief that her parents had abandoned her would fall on deaf ears.

 

Nano sighed, knowing that she was still distressed and knowing that there was nothing he could do to make her feel better. He knew nothing about comforting distraught fillies; he had so little experience with foals in general, he simply lacked the knowledge to know what to do.

 

Even though his audio receptors were next to muted, he still sensed that somepony was knocking at the door - though he felt the sound more than he actually heard it. He walked to the door and opened it to see Lost Thought standing there. He tilted his head, wondering what she would be doing here, before he greeted her. "Hello there... What brings you here, if I may ask?" he asked for curiosity's sake. It was a slightly odd sensation, speaking whilst barely able to hear; he turned his audio sensors back up, so that he would be able to hear the mare's response.

"shh.. Its okay little one."

Shardz spoke softly, and hugged galatea, gently.

Virvidian, who was right next to shardz, went to go and fill Lost in.

"Hey, lost!" He said, and smiled.

He whispered to nano.

"I need to be right back, i need to get something from our house." he said.

The filly whimpered and squirmed slightly, uncertain how to react to being hugged by someone she supposedly didn't know, but at least she had stopped crying for the moment (though she was still a little teary-eyed). As upset as she was, it was nice to get a hug - even if it was from someone she couldn't recognize right now.

 

Nano's ears swiveled towards Virvidian before he turned his gaze towards the colt. The robot gave him a mildly curious look, but nodded in acknowledgement before he returned his attention to Lost Thought, still expecting an answer from her.

Shardz smiled. 

"You see, i plan on taking care of you, until your parents come home."

She smiled, and  shortly, Virvidian, brung a map back from the house.

"Is it okay, that i show her the map?"

He asked, and unfolded it. It was somewhat new.

He unfolded the map, and pointed to the town, of baltimare.

Lost Thought took a moment to think about how she would explain this: getting kidnapped by the guards, ending up in their backyard. She thought about her name for a moment and gave Nano a cheeky smile. "Directions?" She looked over to where the noise originally came from, but a rather large piece of paper obstructed her view. 

 

She drew her attention back to nano, "Sorry, but A led to B and... I ended up here?"

(( OOC: Goodness, perhaps I'm part of one too many roleplays... I always end up neglecting one or another. ))

 

Galatea looked at the map, curious of the drawing of Equestria and the various cities marked upon it. She wasn't exactly a proficient reader at this age - but even if her normal mare mind were still present, she wouldn't have been able to recognize most of the cities. In the future which she came from, many of these cities had been wiped off the face of the map, either crowded out by growing cities around them or renamed at one point or another. But at the least, it was something for her to look at, something that - in her young filly mind - made Shardz's words a little more believable.

 

She looked to where Virvidian was pointing, and gingerly touched the depiction of Baltimare on the map before she looked up at him. "So... that's where Mommy and Daddy are?"

 

Nano again tilted his head at Lost Thought, wondering how she could just simply "end up here," but he decided to not think too hard on it. He likely would have never guessed the true reason, either way. "Directions to get back to Ponyville, you mean?" His initial reaction was for Lost to refer to Galatea, who was normally very good at giving directions, but he quickly remembered her current condition.

"Thats exactly right!"

She says, and smiles.

"Gala, They will be back, just dont worry, until then!" Virvidian says, and smiles.

'I really dont want to do this, but, we have to! She wouldnt calm down, if we told her the truth!'     Shardz thought. 'Whelp. Lets just keep this up. For nano's sake. ' Shardz thought.

Young Galatea gave a little smile in return, feeling reassured. She still didn't quite understand why her parents had supposedly gone away so abruptly, but having some place in mind where she could imagine that they were - rather than just thinking they had vanished to somewhere totally unknown - was somewhat comforting to her. Of course, she wished she knew exactly when her parents would supposedly be returning (unaware that technically, her parents hadn't even been born yet in this time period), but that wasn't so important to her as knowing where they apparently were.

 

Normally, Nano wouldn't approve of the lie Shardz was telling Galatea, especially since he'd adopted the belief that honesty was important from spending time around Applejack - but this was a special case. This was a simple lie, meant to pacify the filly, and all they had to do was keep things that way until they could somehow restore Galatea to her normal state.

Shardz was smiling. Normally, she wouldnt lie, but this time she had to.

"Hey, Erm, River was it?" She said, to the pony in the wheelchair. "You seem to have experience, caring with fillies. Could you help us out?" she asked politely.

River: "err..."

 

River awkwardly looked at the floor. Patterson stepped forward.

 

Pat: "Um, actually she doesn't have much experience, outside of our own siblings, who are now all older than filly Galatea here. But uh, we'll see what we can do."

 

River moved over to where Galatea and Virvidian were.

 

"Look Galatea." 

 

She said as she picked up multiple colorful objects with her telekinesis, and began making them fly around her in interesting patterns and formations. She looked down at Galatea hoping to see her intrigued.

Galatea looked at Virvidian for a few moments, tilting her head and seeming more curious at what he was doing rather than amused. Her attention was then diverted from him when River approached as she looked up at the mare at once. The filly stared up at River curiously, waiting to see what she would do.

 

When River's telekinesis lifted the various objects and started making them fly about, the filly's attention was caught at once. In fact, she was almost transfixed by the patterns in which the objects flew, and giggled as she tried to reach up and grab one of the objects. Finding that she was obviously too short, she sprang up onto her hind legs to reach higher.

 

Meanwhile, Nano looked at Lost Thought, appearing to almost frown in spite of having no mouth. (The expression was in his eyes, naturally, which he managed to convey most of his emotion through.) He said to her, "I am sorry, but I am afraid that I am not too proficient in giving directions. You will have to ask somepony else." With that said, he glanced back at the others, and was somewhat gladdened to see that Galatea seemed to be doing alright now, with the other adult ponies helping to keep her occupied.

Lost Thought nodded to the robotic pony as he started to move away. She started to do the same, but instead of going back to where she came from, Lost moved a little deeper inside the house. She forgot about her directional problem for a moment, as she watched the colorful toys glow and pass in front of the fillies eyes. 

 

After a moment or two, she decided to open up her book and read what she was suppose to do next. Luckily the note about examining nano's blueprints and asking for directions were five spaces apart. She trotted towards anyone in the room who seemed empty handed.@@Pat.Rio.T.,@@Toon Richard, and asked, "Do you know where we are?"

River was kind of enjoying herself as she watched Galatea being mesmerized by the hovering objects, then jumping to reach them. She then picked Galatea up and made the objects fly around her in the air.

 

Patterson had been watching River and Galatea, when his attention was diverted towards Lost Thought upon hearing the odd question.

 

Pat: "Uuh, Pardon?"

 

He was very confused as to how somepony could be so lost.

Lost smiled as best as she could and repeated her question. "Do you know where we are?" She scratched behind her head, still trying to come up with an explanation of why she was there. "I guess I'm~ very new to this area. I was just wondering if anyone knew where this was." She looked over to the filly, "And possibly what's going on here in a more detail... I may not have the best memory, but that foal was speaking in full sentences the last time I saw here."

The filly giggled once more as she was picked up, her attention still fixed on the floating objects. With the objects closer and just about within reach, she reached and grabbed one of them. "This one's mine now!" she declared happily, clutching the object to her chest possessively. At this age, Galatea always had been possessive of her toys, since - being an only child - she'd never had a reason to learn about the concept of sharing.

 

Upon hearing Lost Thought question their current location, Nano turned to the mare once more. "This is Galatea's laboratory as well as her home. As for location in a more general respect, we are on the outskirts of Ponyville." Then when she mentioned Galatea, Nano glanced back at the filly in question before turning back to face Lost Thought. "And the current situation... Well... Galatea had unfortunately taken a bad fall that has resulted in... the loss of her memory..."

 

Nano averted his gaze once he had said that, appearing saddened as he was reminded that she remembered nothing, including him. She was, essentially, just a filly now, with a simple, innocent mind; virtually a blank slate with nothing more than the memories she had in respect to her current physical age.

"Heh, thats adorable!" Shardz said.

"How are you so skilled with your telekinisis?" She asked.

 

Virvidian, who wanted to help make her smile, went out for a bit.

"Hmm?"

She said, with a curious look.

"Oh well."

Shardz shrugged.

She went up to nano, and tapped on his sholder.

"Nano, can i speak with you for a moment?"
