Being a Brony IRL

My parents know I'm a brony, and my IRL brony friends do. My other friends kind of know I am, but most of them really just don't know what MLP FiM is, so it doesn't really count if you ask me.

I don't care to go around flaunting it, but I certianly won't try to hide it when it comes up. I can't really wear a MLP shirt or something to school anyway, because of dress codes. One of my IRL friends is a brony, and I found out my cousin is a brony/pegasister, so that's cool.

Oh, people know. Some of my friends dig the show, but most aren't as all about the community as I am. DJ Pantsu is a RL friend of mine and an occasional user of this site (her internet sucks horribly).

 

Some friends don't like the show out of hand, but it's easy enough to counter with how we act towards each other.

 

Hater: Gah, how can you like that show?

Me: What? You watch Vampire Diaries.

Hater: Fuck you.

Me: Fuck you. Beer?

Hater: Okay.

I only became a brony two weeks ago. My friends all think (know) I have weirder interests, so it's all good with them. As for family, only my mother knows so far. My sisters will find out eventually. Other than that, I'm open about it to anyone who talks to me. So far, just from it coming up in conversation, I've added at least six people to the herd. And I'm gonna try to start up a Brony Club at my college.

I recently admitted to a coworker that I was a brony by showing him art of my pony oc Blivy, he actually thought it was adorable and cool with it!

I’m not afraid to show my pony pride! I wear my MLP merch proudly in public not to mention the MLP decals I got on my truck. So basically....anyone and everyone knows I’m a pegasister.

I'm still not open about it in real life and it's still a secret somehow, though I'm not sure how I've managed to keep this secret since 2012, either I'm batter at keeping secrets than I thought or people are oblivious to the amount of times they could've found out.

Truth is I'd like to be open about it but I'm not so sure it would be accepted so it's easier to not say about it.
