Maya continued to eat her sandwich. Her leafwings were folded on her sides. She soon found herself laying belly-up again eating her sandwich. She sort of blushed at this when she looked at Meadowlark as she ate her sandwich. She then thought about flying lessons with Shadow.

Meadow sat and watched Maya eat with a smile. "When you're done eating sweety, we'll set the house and your flower up in the backyard, then we can discuss your first flying lesson wit your papa afterwards." She continues to eat some of the sandwiches and smiles.

"Okay mommy." Maya said as she finished up her sandwich and got up. She was ready to set up the house again with her abilities. "Mommy...I'm ready to build the house again." Maya stated as she waited patiently for Meadowlark to get up and go out with her to the backyard.

Meadowlark smiles and gets up, "ok sweety, how about we go now and you can look for where you want to set the house up" She says as she takes the tray to the kitchen then goes back to Maya, and they walk out the backyard where Daechiril was already waiting for them.

Maya looked for a place to set up the house. She saw all of the pieces organized neatly into a pile. She soon found a nice flat area. She then gathered some of her energy, and rebuilt the house in seconds. She then turn to Meadowlark with a smile. Her flower was planted right next to the house.

Meadow smiles, "You never cease to amaze me darling" she says, embracing Maya in a tight hug and stroking her mane. Daechiril comes out into the backyard, "Meadow, sweety, we're out of a few things, do you think you could go get them please?"

Meadow nods, "Sure mum" she turns to Maya, "Mummy will be back shortly sweetheart, nana and papa will look after you while I am gone."

 

She gets the list from Daechiril and makes her way to the shops.

On her way to the shops, she hears a familiar voice, familiar but old.

"Well, well, well, so the freak finally came back." A stallion says, walking up to her and slapping her on the flank, "I have to say, you turned out mighty fine, for a freak."

"N..no! Get away from me!"

"Fat chance" The stallion says, shoving her to the ground, "This is for what you did all those years back"

He starts to hit and kick into her with his hooves, showing no signs of remorse or ever stopping.

"P..please stop! PLEASE!"

It had been a totally normal day up till then. Just visiting family. Running to the Grocery store for food. The usual. 

 

Solar was standing at a nearby stall when her heard what sounded like yelling, followed by some commotion.

 

He turned to the stall owner,and spoke.

 

"I will be back".

 

He followed the sounds, soon to discover a mare, being beaten mercilessly by a large stallion. It was a horrible site. Solar hesitated fora moment, and then did something that was probably stupid. He ran up and pushed the stallion away from the mare.

 

"Hey, what the buck do you think you are doing ?" He says, standing between the mare and the stallion, obviously to protect the mare.

Maya waited. She then decided to go inside and hang with Daechrill. "Where's papa?" She asked as he looked up at Daecheril. She wanted to get started with her flying lessons. She already passed the basics with Meadowlark, so now it was time to get a little harder with Shadow.

Daechiril smiles, "your Papa is just upstairs sweety, he's getting a few things for your flying lesson. He's really excited about it" She hugs Maya tight, "your mummy is right dear, you truly are a very special little filly."

The stallion picks himself up off of the ground, and glares at him, "Not that it's any of your business, but this freak is getting what she deserves! There is no place for freaks in Cloudsdale!"

"I don't care, back off, or your gonna find out what a cold hard jail cell feels like" He says, growling a little and getting even closer to the injured mare.

 

He takes a quick look back at her, and for a split second, looks her in the eyes before turning back around.

Maya smiled when Daecharill hugged her. Maya waited patiently for Shadow to come downstairs with the things he needed for the flight lesson. Maya was getting adjusted to her wings, as they slowly binded themselves with her main body. Maya soon thought about where Meadowlark went.

"Oh really? And how is a wimp like you going to get me into a jail cell? I'll bet you once I'm done with this freak!" The stallion shouts as he begins to charge at Solar.

Shadow then comes downstairs with a few training things, he smiles at Maya, "are you ready love? We'll start your lessons off in the backyard near your house and flower, so you are comfortable for starters and then a little later on, we'll get you into one of my classes at the arena."

"Okay Shadow." Maya stated as he followed him outside. She was still thinking about Meadowlark and why it was taking so long for her to get home. "I hope mommy's okay..." She said out loud as she continued to follow Shadow out the the backyard.

Solar immediately panicked and reached into one of his saddlebags. He grabbed a small canister and raised it at the charging pony. Once he was close enough, he sprayed the bottle directly at his assailants face, hoping  the resulting burning sensations and watery reactions from the eyes would buy him some time. 

 

He then reached down and threw the wounded pony onto his back. She was heavy, but all he had to do was get her out into the open with other people. With that, he started to run away from the stallion.

Meadow was in a lot of pain, covered in bruises, scratches and at least two or three bleeding wounds. She feels herself being lifted on to the stranger's back and lets out a small squeak. As she couldn't manage anything else but a "P..please t..take me h..home"

Shadow smiles, "please dear, call me Papa, and I am sure she is just fine, she's a very strong and resilient mare, how about you do a few exercises while I get the course set up"

Maya spread her wings out and flapped them. She then flew in little circles as she waited for Shadow to get the course set up. When she banked, she ended up doing a barrel roll and recovered it. She then continued to fly around the place watching where she went. She still was thinking about Meadowlark.

Solar didnt know what to do. He had no idea were to take this mare. Then, she spoke. Softly, but he heard what she said. He looked back at her.

 

"Were is that, were is your home, madam ? Come on stay awake" He said in a slightly panicked voice. He waited for her directions

"N..near the arena. ..big h..house o..on the left" she stutters then passes out.

Shadow finished setting the course up and watches Maya fly around with a smile, "Okay sweety, the course is ready, but it already seems that you are a natural, so you shouldn't find this one too difficult"

Maya then landed at a place to start. She then crouched and then sprang into the air. She was going through the course pretty fast. She still had the thought of Meadowlark in her mind. She suddenly stopped and was very worried about Meadowlark. She hoped nothing bad happend.

Solar nodded. He knew the exact house she was talking about, he had passed it many times on his daily explorations of the city.

Soon, he arrived in the front yard of the house, with a beaten Meadowlark on his back. He headed for the front door, hoping someone was home.

Meadowlark's mother, Daechiril was sitting on the front porch when she saw the stallion walk up to the house with the wounded Meadow on his back. She immediately runs to him and starts demanding. "Who are you! What did you do to my daughter!" She yells at him, fearful of losing Meadowlark for good.

" It wasn't me, it was some thug. I managed to get her away from him, but please, she needs medical attention" He says.

 

As he approached the house, he started to pant as his energy drained more and more. Carrying a mare several blocks was no easy feat for Solar.

"W-what did he look like? Quickly, take her inside I will get her father." Daechiril says opening the door and rushing inside. She rushes to the backyard.

Daechiril finds Shadow, "Shadow! Quickly, there's been an incident. Your medical attention is required." She turns to Maya, "Stay here sweetheart, I don't want you seeing this" 

Shadow nods and quickly runs inside to find Solar placing Meadow on the couch.

Solar walks in and carefully places her on the couch, and turns to Daechiril.

 

"Yeah, I remember his face well, after this I need to go to thee police station" Solar says before looking at the mare, " OH Celestia I hope she will be all right."

 

She really is a beautiful mare, She doesn't deserve this, whatever she did. He thinks to himself.

"Please, tell me what he looked like! I..I think I know who it was." Daechiril pleads, as she sits down and strokes Meadow's mane gently.

Shadow goes into their bedroom and returns with his medical kit.

Daechiril says, "Thank you for saving her, whoever you are. My name is Daechiril, and the changeling over there? He's my husband and our Meadow's father, Shadow Wing. Our adopted granddaughter is out back, I told her to stay there, as I didn't want her to see her mother like this."
