In the chaos, the Egotist had flown into the air, his boots silently supporting his weight.

The crowd belong him was rather dull even if they were super-powered. He needed something interesting to keep his attention, fools like the bickering ones on the ground were acting no different than the average human.

 

They are superior to them, Egotist thought angrily. Yet they act as their equals! Have they no pride, no honor?

 

The Egotist returned to his perch and rested his head in his hand.

 

There must be someone who has enough self-respect to separate themselves from these simpletons, or are my fellow humans really that idiotic?

 

"Good day my dear sir." *A voice said from behind him. It was a young man, hovering in a sitting position.* "I see you too prefer the company of solitude, or am I incorrect?"

The Egotist lifted his head.

 

"I would think not, seeing how as I just arrived today."

 

The Egotist spun around in spot.

 

"Yes, yes, solitude and what-not. All very good..."

"Well sense you are both here, why not make this introduction as simple as possible? I am the Egotist."

 

The touched the tip of his hat and looked at each of them.

 

"It is a pleasure to meet you both."

Sebastian looked around and started to stealthily cross the road when he caught sight of an young woman. Her face was disfigured enough for him to know she wasn't alive any longer, and he ignored her.

However, she followed him mournfully, and eventually he turned to her.

^I'm not bringing you back! Get out of here before I banish you personally!^ he hissed, but the woman cocked her head.

I have something you seek.

Sebastian paused, knowing full well what she was talking about. ^Prove it,^ he snorted, disbelieving.

The woman shook her head in fear. Even I dare not travel there.

Sebastian grunted. ^If this is a false lead...^ Snapping his fingers, he turned to his ghostly form.

He was back in the land of the dead and his shoulders sagged. He hated it here; it was so dull.

The area he was in was similar to the place he had just been but it was shrouded in twilight and monsters were scuttling around. If he approached one they fled in fear, and he smiled jut a little bit.

That was when he caught sight of a face on a roof. Looking up sharply, he gasped. This had to be the one that 1337 had told him to stop.

The girl stared at him for a few seconds and mouthed "Help." Even though 1337 would MURDER him if he did anything, Sebastian's curiosity got the better of him, and he floated to the rooftop.

The girl looked at him with big eyes. "You're not dead, are you?"

Sebastian chuckled. ^Very astute of you.^

He wasn't sure what to think. She was pretty, yes, but not at all what he'd imagined. The way 1337 had described her she sounded like a big threat but she was 5 foot nothing and he was towering over her.

"Are you here to save us?" she asked hopefully, standing up. "Weiss told me to stay here but it's boring. I want to go back."

He lifted an eyebrow. ^What makes you think I'm going to help you?^

The girl grabbed his arm and looked at him wildly. "You have to help me!" she whispered fiercely. "I'll...uh...well you won't like what I'll do!"

Sebastian stared at her in disbelief and then burst into peals of laughter as she slapped his arm with a blush. ^Maybe some other time. For the time being, I've got other plans. Nice try.^

"Wait!" she said desperately as he began to fade, but with a wink he returned to the world of the living.

As he started to walk down the street he kept thinking of her. She has a cute blush...

Oh shut up, he thought to himself scathingly. You know what you're here to do.

Sebastian didn't look at him. ^Well seeing as I've sort of blown my cover, no.^

"Huh.....well then, let me let you in on something, the girl you just talked to is with Shadow" he said mockingly "But, seeing that you smell of the test tube lady and have bad intentions......i think i may want to skin you alive unless you persuade me otherwise"

^I know that, dumbass,^ said Sebastian with a scoff. ^I have no bad intentions. I owe 1337 one and this is what she needs me to do. Whether or not that girl brings about total destruction is none of my concern.^ He paused. ^Though all those dead people would be begging me to bring them back. I guess I have a little vendetta with her.^

"And what does she need you to do?" he asked.

Sebastian made a surrender gesture.

^I don't even know you. Calm down. I'm not gonna do anything to her. She seems sweet enough...^ He trailed off and then blinked. ^Anyways, fighting me in my own realm isn't a good idea.^

He whistled and a few ghostly skeletons rose from the ground. He waved his hand and they fell into piles. ^The dead are my playthings. I don't know why you're so pissed off for no reason.^

Sebastian just spirited himself, becoming invisible to the world, untouchable to those not dead. He could see the dead spirits around him and closed his eyes with a groan.

(Kay, screw it. He's going back to see Rain since no one's posting.)

 

Sebastian concentrated and with a pop appeared in the alternate city. He looked around for the familiar building and saw it, carefully floating to where the girl was.

She was asleep and her mouth was open a little, drooling. Sebastian stared at her for a couple seconds and then decided not to wake her up, instead lurking on the edge of the building. Any monsters that came up would have to answer to him. He couldn't afford to lose her spirit, not just yet.

Dakota watched as his swipe went through thin air as he dissapeared. "Dammit!" he exclaimed as he transferred back to human form.

[Mephala 2,633]

She stirred slightly and cracked open an eyelid, then screamed and jumped back as Sebastian loomed over her.

^Calm down,^ he laughed, steadying her with a little smile. ^I'm not here to hurt you.^

The girl stopped moving and breathed, chest heaving. "You don't watch people sleeping, you goddamn creeper!" she wheezed.

Sebastian made a face. ^I wasn't watching you, I was stopping those monsters from sneaking up on you. You're welcome.^

"No one invited you! And you ditched me last time!" she said crossly, turning around, but Sebastian just gently made him face her again.

^Hey, I'm sorry,^ he said kindly. ^Can we start over?^ He extended a hand and smiled. ^I'm Sebastian.^

Rain looked at him distrustfully. "Rain," she said grudgingly, shaking it as she tried to squeeze as hard as she could. He just laughed at her efforts and easily pulled his hand out.

The two spent some time talking and eventually he had to leave.

"Don't leave me here again," begged Rain, grabbing his sleeve as he said goodbye. "I hate it. I hate being dead."

He just quickly hugged her. ^If I had a choice, I wouldn't. I'll come back, okay?^ he said, realizing that she was hugging him back. He felt something flutter in his chest.

"Soon, okay? Promise?" she said as he started to fade.

^Promise. Later, Rain.^

"Bye, Seb,^ she said, and she grabbed his hand right before he disappeared.

Sebastian appeared in the street again, a goofy smile on his face.

This Shadow asshole obviously needs to treat her better, if he let her die...

Shadow was going insane. His whole mind was beginning to doubt Rain. Everything he thought may have meaned nothing. Just a ploy so he wouldn't die. He tried to push it off and walked outside. He saw Dakota with a rather pissed off face and some guy walking down the street a few blocks down with a rather smug look "Hey Blake" he said to Dakota

 

Dakota turned around seeing Shadow. He called him by is last name. "Ello......we may have a problem"

Sebastian froze and turned around to see exactly who he'd been looking for.

Great. Now he's gonna be on my case. Might as well introduce myself. What am I going to say though? Hi, I'm Sebastian, I think your girlfriend's hot?

Sebastian sighed and walked over to them, ignoring his instincts and trying to push the fact that 1337 would kill him out of his mind.

^Sebastian,^ he said formally to Shadow, and stuck out his hand once more.

Shadow turned around. Dakota looked at him "You really do not know when to quit....God this is just going to worsen his condition...." he said. "Why should i need to know who you are?" he said in a rather stressed manner, ignoring Dakota.
