Plague felt another presence enter the Spirit realm.

"Ok... what's going on?"

[Victoria and Co. 782]

"Ah ha! Now we are getting somewhere," the Egotist knelt down and held up Shadow's head. He peered into his eyes. "It would seem, that your mental affliction is entirely subconscious, meaning their should be little I can do..."

 

The Egotist stood up and typed into his bracer.

 

"Emphasis on the 'should' part, because it would seem I have something that can help."

 

He looked up from his bracer's screen.

 

"But can you handle it?"

"Probably not" he said.

[Victoria and Co. 782]

The Egotist shook his head.

 

"Not with that attitude, look all you have to do is delve into the inner mechanisms of your psyche and find the memory, memories, emotion, emotions, thought, or thoughts that are the source of your ailment and repent them. Simple enough right?"

"It's really the only shot i have" he said "So i guess i'll have to try."

"Okay then," the Egotist hit one last button on his bracer. A vile popped out of a slot. He held it up, light shone through the gray liquid inside. "This is a rather interesting thing, it grants the drinker entry into the enigma that is the inner thoughts that are usually inaccessible. Drink it and you will be able to see your past experiences and your past thoughts, both conscious and unconscious, and nothing else. You will have two hours, use that time to make amends with yourself."

 

The Egotist handed him the vile.

 

"It's up to you," he turned to leave. After a few steps he stopped and spun around. "Oh and before I go, remember this, Sam will now be expecting a birthday present from you, don't let her down."

Shadow nodded and took the vial, he sat into a chair as he blacked out.

 

Shadow awoke in a ever expanded dark room, he looked different, his eyes were normal and his overall color seemed a bit less dark. There was a person sitting on a chair, upon further inspection it was shadow in his normal appearance and eyes. "Hello there" he said with a rather twisted smile.

Sebastian cocked his head. ^I'm picking up something very faint. Anyone else getting that?^

Suddenly a building behind him exploded and Sebastian pushed Rain and Sam down, trying to protect them from flying chunks as a girl and two men stepped out of the wreckage.

'Long time no see, Sebastian,' spat the girl. She couldn't have been a day older than 14, though the others were obviously into their 20's.

^Blaire,^ said Sebastian with a mocking bow. ^A pleasure, as always.^

'Let's cut the crap. You-' she pointed at Scipio-'killed Julian. We tried to get you back, Sebastian. But if you don't cooperate, we're going to have to kill you.'

One of the men moved impossibly fast and grabbed Rain, dragging her away faster than the others eyes could move. 'Start with her,' Blaire smiled, and Rain screamed as he already broken arm was twisted.

Sebastian barreled towards the man but he moved out of the way in the blink of an eye. ^Get the other guy!^ he yelled at Scipio.

Sam stood up.

 

"Stop it," she demanded coldly and firmly, very unlike the usual Sam. "Stop fighting, now..."

[Chickey 383]

"It's funny how this world just f**kin distorted us" the dark Shadow said. "So why have you come here today?" he asked. "To stop you" the real Shadow replied. The dark Shadow sat up. "And why, would you want to do something like that?"

"No time for that lass!" Plague yelled as he formed two Tarkatan like blades on his arms. He looked at the group.

"Yeah, I did. It was quite fun putting an end to that homicidal bastard's life too!"

[Mephala 2,633]

'Oooh, we're so scared of the little girl,' crooned Blaire. She nodded at the guy holding Rain and he squeezed Rain's side, breaking her ribs. She gasped in pain as Blaire looked at them triumphantly. 'That's for Julian too.'

"Get Sam out of here!" Rain screamed at Sebastian, as the man again moved out of his way.

^You want to do this the hard way?^ said Sebastian dangerously. The world started to gray out again and there seemed to be ripples of shadows coming from him. ^Let's do this the hard way.^

Sam glared at Plague and then at Sebastian.

 

"Plague, Seb, stop it," she walked up to the one who had been identified as Blaire. "Leave us alone."

"Stopping me would be denying yourself. Denying your true power."

"I don't need you!"

"But i think you do need me."

"What do you mean?"

"They might need help to save the girl" he said as a image of the fight going on appeared

"No! we have to help them!" Shadow said rather nervous

"Well, without me you couldn't do crap to them, i could make you destroy them. Rip them apart"

"Julian was it? Hahaha," Plague laughed mockingly. "If he was your leader, then you guys should be no problem at all!"

Blaire moved out of the way. 'No!' Another explosion went off beneath Sam's feet and Blaire laughed.

Sebastian closed his eyes. There was another cracking sound and another agonized sound but he tried to ignore it as best as he could.

He could feel the anger welling up inside him and as he opened his mouth and yelled something there was a huge noise as the earth rumbled and split, zombies pouring out of the crevice.

Plague rushed towards the one holding up Rain, camoflauging himself in his dash and slithering behind him at the right moment. He reformed himself and dug his symbiotic blades into his back...

"Stop!" Shadow said grabbing his head "Just stop!"

"Why would i do that, oh fine" he said closing the picture

Shadow tried to block off what he just saw

"We need each other my friend, you can't just get rid of me"

Sam laughed coldly.

 

"Blaire, you don't get it do you? I'm not asking you to stop for our sake, it's for yours."

 

The smoke cleared and Sam walked forward, perfectly fine. Her usual cheery smile was now a dark smirk, and her yellow dress had changed to a red color.

 

"Do you know who I am? I am Samantha Davis, seven year old daughter of Manfred Charles Davis, a.k.a. the Egotist, a.k.a. the smartest man alive, a.k.a. the strongest man alive, a.k.a. the fastest man alive, a.k.a. the greatest man alive."

 

Sam looked toward Blaire and the grin on her face softened. Sam's eyes began to water and she started to cry.

 

"DADDY!" Sam screamed uncharacteristically loud and discordant as compared to her normal sweet voice.

'That's another attack, another crack!' sang Blaire. But when she didn't hear the responding noise she looked down to see the mbbing zombies.

'HOLY SHIT! GET OUT OF THERE!' she screamed. Sebastian opened his eyes and they were now completely black. There were zombies everywhere, crowding the street.

'Now look what you did!' she yelled, ripping out the blades with a small flinch. She ran down and grabbed Rain herself, launching her high into the air and slamming her towards the ground.

Before she could something grabbed her arm. Blaire yelled at the sight of Sebastian now-in addition to the black eyes his skin had gone as white as a sheet of paper and he was a solid 2 feet taller. He caught the now passed out version of Rain and shoved the mangled body of the first man in her arms.

'RUN!' she screamed, pulling the other guy away from Plague as they disappeared.

Sebastian stood, breathing heavily as he slowly returned to his normal form, still holding Rain. He lay her down on the ground gently and waved his arm, causing the masses upon masses of zombies to collapse. Looking at Sam he saw her looking slightly demented and raised an eyebrow.

"But i can get rid of you." he said teleporting to Shadow and sending a fist into his stomach.

Shadow doubled over from the pain "Shit" he muttered as he hit the floor.

"And now, no one can help you, They are all busy with their own problems" he said as he kicked him in the chest. There was a loud cracking noise as he did so

 

Outside of his mind, Shadow began to cough up blood.

"That was... interesting," Plague murmured as he walked over to Seb and Rain.

A flash of white light fell from the sky and landed next to Sam. The figure stood up, revealing the Egotist... Almost. His usual garb was completely white and golden now, his mask was nowhere on his face, and instead of a saying the usual smug remark, he hugged Sam.

 

Sam relaxed and her dress returned to its normal shade of yellow.

 

"Daddy, these are my friends. Miss Rain, Mister Plague, and Mister Seb!" She turned to face the others. "Guys, this is my dad, the Egotist, Manny Davis!"

Rain was bleeding heavily and her breaths were short. Sebastian was panicking, trying to do CPR on her. ^I don't know a strong enough healing spell to help her,^ he moaned. ^She's dead, unless I...^ He paused and shook his head. ^No, I can't do that.^ He looked at Plague.

^They administered a poison into her that no one else can treat but Blaire and Eric can heal. There's only one other way to help her, and I-"

He noticed the Egoist and lifted and did a double take. ^HE'S your dad?^

Sam nodded eagerly.

 

"Uh huh, he just got back today! What's wrong with Miss Rain? I'm sure Daddy can help, he's brilliant!"
