ooc The Crew of the 7645PB

This is a war based roleplay I came up with.

 

 

We will be flying a bomber for the Royal Air Guard, or RAG, a bomber group based outside Canterlot. Griffons have invaded Equestria after years of tension. One bomber, simply marked 7746PB, has been rotated in with a fresh crew. But who are they?

 

So yeah. That's the backstory, now to the OOC.

 

RULES:

1. Romance is allowed, but keep it PG-13

2. Only ponies

3. You can be wounded. In this case, our bomber will be short a pony. So don't get hurt.

4. The pilot (Me) will decide if we go down. Nobody else.

5. We can go down. We must escape.

6. Create a name for the plane

 

 

SLOTS:

1. Pilot (Night Comb, Flying Officer)

2. Navigator/Co-Pilot (Con, Flight Sargent)

3. Tail Gunner (Golden Age, Aircraftman 1st Class)

4. Top Gunner/Flight Mechanic (Distance Traveller, Aircraftman 2nd Class)

5. Nose Gunner/Bombardier (Nuclear Neurotic, Aircraftman 1st Class)

Oh my god, you had me interested at "bomber".

 

What time period is the bomber? World War II? Korea? Vietnam? So many questions ;-;

I based it around WWII. Something like a B-25. That's what I had in mind when I posted. I'll get a pic of our plane tomorrow.

If you're talking B-25, use the B-25J, it was the heavy ground attack aircraft version. I also believe it has a 75mm M4 Sherman tank cannon in the nose.

Also, the B-25 had a co-pilot, but the pilot is the one who controlled the 6 forward .50 caliber machine guns on the nose. Lucky you

 

I'll go Navigator/Bombardier, but I do believe the Co-Pilot was the Navigator, it's not like a B-24, which had a lot more crew. And not to mention was very vulnerable to enemy fire.

The thing is I wanted to have a pony-designed one. It won't be an exact copy of the B-25, just roughly like it.

 

I forgot co-pilot! Want that with navigation?

Also, the pilots are the officers, right? If you're gonna have ranks as well, the pilots are the officers while the rest of the crew is enlisted. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but hey, I like this idea.

 

Another point. The nose gunner was usually the bombardier!

That's what bothered me. I knew the nose gunner was bombardier, but I felt it sounded better with navigation. I'll change that.

He's not really based around this time period, however I could certainly give him a more modern touch.

So what kind of technologies, in your rp, will the Griffons have? If you're still considering ground attack role for the B-25, they'll have some sort of ground vehicles for us to shoot at.

I think they'd take the Japanese approach to air, so fast moving lightly armored fighters, and the German approach to ground. Likely we'll be shooting armored vehies or bombing factories.

It'd be best if either a wing fell off or multiple engines went out. I don't know about British bombers, but a B-17 could fly decently with one engine out. Those things could take quite a beating.

B25, indeed we probably would want to ditch with one engine gone XD

 

 

 

The thing is that they are FUCKING FAST. Think about it. It's like a swarm of flies. Sure, they are easy to kill once you hit them, but you can't hit them.

Zeros are fast and maneuverable, but it doesn't take that many shots to take one down, you wouldn't need that much of accuracy as long as you're able to put one or two shots on them. And some of the Japanese plans are damn fast in a dive, so yeah, we'd be in for it.

Nah, no story changes.

 

But remember, we also have flak. And engine failures. And navigation errors. And a host of other ways to die. So even if the Zero's don't shoot us, we can easily die.

Actually, Japanese planes could not follow most American dive bombers in a dive as their wings would freeze up and prevent maneuverability. 

I thought the Ki type of Japanese fighter was fast in the dive, oh well XD

 

I don't know a whole lot about WWII planes. I don't really study it that often XP

Yeah. Your standard handgun/knife pilots kit and .30 and .50 cals for the plane.

I believe it was two .30s in the tail and bubble, with the nose and sides being .50. Don't quote me though.

 

Yeah, a specialized B25 had some 20mm cannons mounted to the front to sink Japanese merchant ships.

A 20mm at the front? Like for strafing?

Perhaps my OC Nuclear would be a good addition for the position of Nose Gunner/Bombardier?
