Kindness vs. Generosity?

I'm pretty new to the show; I'm only on the first season. But, I already have some questions, and I was hoping to get some insight on one of them.

I hope this question doesn't seem too self-evident or silly, but I've been thinking about it. I get that Fluttershy represents Kindness, and Rarity represents Generosity, but I'm having trouble divining what the difference is.

Thoughts for a pondering friend?

They are rather similar.

If one is kind, then they will probably be generous too.

If somebody is generous, then there is a good chance they're kind as well.

Anyways, I think Kindness is more or less being generally nice and Generosity is randomly giving away Gems to everybody just because you can. (What? That's what Rarity did. :D )

The two values, generosity and kindness, can at times be almost the same as they are usually sort of required for their acts to be committed upon another person. However, there are key points that separate them into their own values.

  • Kindness is being able to show no reluctance in approaching someone, regardless of what they may have done in the past. You show them compassion and give them chances to prove to you that they are able to emit and use the same energy you give them. Kindness, can also be renamed as Forgiveness. Instead of dwelling on someone's past, you look at them and try and reshape how they build their future.

  • Generosity on the other hand, is being able to relinquish or give up something in order to benefit another whether or not they truly deserve it. This could even be helping out someone with their purchase because they forgot their wallet in their home. You uphold a strong sense of selflessness and truly think of others when the time comes around to it. Possessions like money or personal valuables are usually the objects given for examples when it comes to generosity...however, even something as small as an aide to shovel a driveway clear of snow is generous as you give up your time to help someone else.
