It appeared offensive to them because they wanted to see it as offensive, some people see only what they want to. And yes I have watched Uncle Grandpa and yes I know he defies physics a lot of times but that still dosen't change that he is far more of a stereotype than Derpy even could be which makes all of these parents who bitched complete and total hypocrites whose opinions are worth less to me than dog shit.

There are many cartoon characters I listed who are sillier than Derpy by a landslide and received no complaints as they continued their respective series unaltered for years. I was trying to distinguish what makes them any different from Derpy's case.

Aw, but Von Karma is so awesome!  Sure, he's a jerk, but....  Eh, yeah, he sort of deserves it.  Were I to choose anyone from the Ace Attorney series though, I'd have gone with Oldbag.

 

Prince Joffrey, Queen Cersei (Song of Ice and Fire series), and Alex DeLarge (A Clockwork Orange) are characters that I would love to see go through the Cupcakes treatment.
