Scootalove 10,689 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 It could be possible, if it led to a heart attack. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules
Chigens and Kay 3,832 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 Yes, it is possible to die by laughing. Good way to go out? Maybe. I'd rather not find out though. My signature broke

Derpy Defense Force 13 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 At the very least, you can think of it like this: There are 2 normal reasons you laugh: 1) You're happy/see something funny 2) You're completely insane It's usually no. 1. Now, thinking about that, it would be a nice way to go, as you're looking at something that makes you happy or funny. But laughing "to death" would most likely come from asphyxiation. When people say they laughed too hard, they usually mean that when they were laughing, their muscles were contracted so that they were unable to breathe in properly. Now, because of how the body works, I don't think that one could simply die of laughter on their own. I think it would take an outside force, such as a person, to give you a paralytic or some other kind of drug that would make your muscles unresponsive and complete the asphyxiation process. Essentially, you can die from laughing, but I don't think it's possible on your own. And while going out laughing would be nice, if it takes another person, then you'd probably not be in an ideal situation of life, and therefore would not go out nicely. Perhaps I took this a little farther than I should have...
RoguesWolfe 192 March 13, 2014 Share March 13, 2014 Technically laughing is a fear and panic response, I'd rather not die by laughing. Created by WarriorShy!

Radiance64 7,053 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Well, I have laughed so hard that I hurt myself... So I suppose it would be possible. Laughter is generally good for your health though.

Creamy Arty 6,252 March 14, 2014 Share March 14, 2014 Asphyxiation wouldn't be an issue as you'd pass out first and resume normal breathing. You could give yourself a heart attack, I suppose. Don't think I'd want to die that way though. Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights!
