TheMarkz0ne 962 March 16, 2014 Share March 16, 2014 (edited) I have always had this in the back of my mind for over a year. There are some things that bother me about Twilight Sparkle. She is my favorite character in the show, next in line is Rainbow Dash. But I have issues concerning her attitude. It seems she never questions authority. She will never deny any order or some view point from Celestia. I know Celestia is supposed to do that as her mentor. I just get annoyed when Twilight is a stooge for someone. It seems the other 5 girls have more freedom in their character and aren't shackled like Twilight is. Edited March 16, 2014 by TheMarkz0ne

It seems the other 5 girls have more freedom in their character and aren't shackled like Twilight is. Keep in mind that she was born in Canterlot, a high-society place. And, she lived her whole life studying in a library, and rarely talked to her other friends. She was also trained by the Princess herself. Do you really think someone like that wouldn't have a lot of respect for authority, due to being brought up that way? 1 I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. Fluttershutter 2,960 March 16, 2014 Share March 16, 2014 She questioned Celestia about freeing Discord. She also tried to ignore the assignment to make friends. She respects Celestia a lot and usually does what she says but not always.
Shanks 10,817 March 16, 2014 Share March 16, 2014 There really needs to be an episode where Celestia screws up and I mean really screws up and Twilight keeps making excuses for her and learns at the end of the episode that while admiring somepony is all well and good that no matter how good or well intentioned somepony is they can never be completely infallable, not even Celestia. Yeah I like Twilight too (she is tied with Rainbow Dash for my 2nd favorite and was tied with Applejack for my favorite for a little while), but yes she indeed a bit of a plot kisser and with her ascension even though I still think it was too soon one thing I would like to see from is for Twilight to exert a bit more independence and think for herself more, she may be the most booksmart of the mane 6 but although she has gotten a lot better in this can often lack basic common sense. 2 Rarity Get's Cockroaches
11th Doctor Whooves 794 March 16, 2014 Share March 16, 2014 Okay, just my thoughts on the topic and the posts. First off, plot kisser? No, she's not a plot kisser, she's respectful of someone older and wiser than she. If you wanna see plot kissing, go watch Sweet and Elite and look at the characters Jetset and Trendsetter. Those two were plot kissers of the highest order. Second, you make girl scout sound like a bad thing. Just because she does what someone in a higher position of authority tells her doesn't mean that she doesn't think independently or have her own ideas. If all she ever did was wait around for Celestia to give her orders or tell her what to think, the show would just be about her curled up in a ball in the library waiting for Spike to burp. I don't think she's a "girl scout", I think she's a loyal and devoted student. She's often questioned Celestia's judgement, but understood that perhaps Celestia knew what she was talking about and trusted in her mentor to set her on the right path. 1 Ask 11thDoctorWhooves
GhostPony750 959 March 16, 2014 Share March 16, 2014 It's part of her personality. She love to live by the book, follow the autority, and she expect everyone to do the same.
Ribbonfree 2,384 March 16, 2014 Share March 16, 2014 As the others said, it's more a case of respect for someone she knows is far older and wiser than she is. We've seen Twilight fly off the handle before, we know she has as much character as the remainder of her friends. Also, in the rare instances that the other girls have met Celestia (the gala, Rarity staying in Canterlot) they've shown as much reverence (in their own manner) for the Princess as Twilight has. TheMarkz0ne 962 March 16, 2014 Author Share March 16, 2014 I started out not liking Twilight very much in the beginning. She was the best towards the end of season 1. Her attitude is sort of being downplayed now that is a position of authority(still figuring out the pecking order >->)
