It was 5:30 and time for kickboxing club. Alphonse was finished with classes and had already had a bit of wine while sitting in his room, watching the sunset. Very beautiful. He wasn't terribly tipsy, but he was buzzed. He liked that feeling while fighting. It made him feel loose and able to dodge attacks more easily.

 

He had gotten in to a pair of sweatpants and a tank top and headed to the gym with boxing tape wrapped around his knuckles. He sat down and leaned against the padded wall, waiting for the club to start up.

The karate club had started at about 4:30 PM and by the to,e 5:30 PM rolled about, Minx was exhausted. She had never done karate before in her life but this new personality had insisted on it. Rolling her shoulder and swunging her arm about to try and lessen the pain, Minx slowly walked back to her dorm from the gym, not even realising that there was another club starting up right after hers. 

 

Walking into her dorm, Minx sat down and let herself fall to the side, landing her head against the pillow. "This personality is brutal on my bod." Minx said to herself.

Rush smiled and nodded. "I'd love to. Where are you headed off to first? Oh, and before I forget, we should exchange phone numbers. You know, in case something happens between now and our dinner tonight or... I don't know, whatever else. It's just a good idea, you know?"

 

"Math I think..." she said taking out her schedule and checking "Yeah math...". Whisper put her schedule back into her messenger bag and withdrew her cell phone instead "Just 'Rush' as your contact name....or?". They exchanged numbers.

When they got to class they both saw Katie. Whisper had waved happily but had to sit in the back since she'd be blocking some students view.

 

 

 

He knocked on the door. "Whisper? I know I'm a bit early, but I guess I just couldn't wait. Are you ready to go?"

 

"You're early!" she yelled from the other side of the door while pulling on a boot. She hopped over to the door finally managing to get her foot in and unlatch the door. "Okie-dokie I'm ready" Whisper stood in front of Rush. Taking a little advice from Katie; she had chosen her outfit carefully. Letting her hair fall around her shoulder rather than tie it up. She wore a dark brown sleeveless turtle-neck dress with a black belt cinched around her small waist; it reached to about mid-thigh. With this she paired her favorite black boots that reached to her knees.

 

Whisper nervously tucked some hair behind her ear as she looked up at Rush, very impressed by the way he looked in a suit.

Earlier on in the day Genesis had left her room to do some business. Now she was back. When Minx came in, Genesis was sitting in her own bed in a black tank and grey sweats while looping bandages around her hands. Genesis looked up when her roommate came in and followed her as she plopped down on her bed. She chuckled and winced slightly from the pain in her black-eye "Named her yet? Is she like Sporty Spice?".

"Just 'Rush' as your contact name....or?

 

Rush shrugged. "I guess I never told you, because I don't normally use it, but my real name is Cliff Gunderson. I'd be fine letting you use that if you want."

 

 

 

"You're early!" she yelled from the other side of the door while pulling on a boot. She hopped over to the door finally managing to get her foot in and unlatch the door. "Sorry. I should have waited until six. I was just so excited I couldn't wait." He looked her over, taking in her whole body. "You look absolutely amazing. Anyway, our reservations are for 6:30, so we have a little time if there's anything else you'd like to do first. I mean, I don't know, we can just go on a walk, I guess, or whatever you want, really."

Alphonse got up, pulled his MP3 player out of his pocket and put in his earbuds. He put on something fast-paced and motivational and walked over to the punching bag. He started working the bag, working on his jabs, hitting the bag with enough force to actually knock it back to the bar that was holding it up. He started to break a sweat and decided to not waste all his energy warming up and went to the speedbag to keep his arms moving.

Minx made herself get back up into a sitting position and looked over to Genesis. At the moment, Minx was wearing a karate suit with a white belt and she was sporting a black eye and a lot of bruises. "No. I haven''t decided what to name her yet. There's two names I can't decide between but I'll tell you them when you get back from kick boxing." Minx said, noticing the tape around Genesis's knuckles and what she was actually wearing. When Minx walked out of the gym, she saw a few other kids wearing sort of the same getup.

 

Dart was just lying on his bed after coming back from classes. He had put his headphones on and listened to some music to pass the time.

"That's a promise then, mate" Genesis said while getting up and grabbing her jacket. "If you need any painkillers or whateva look in that drawer, right I'm out!" she waved back at Minx before she left the room, closing the door behind her and yelling at someone to move out in the hallway.

Getting to the gym, Genesis strode in after putting out her cigarette and looked at the newer club members and taking notice of Alphonse. She shuffled over to the back and began to go to work on a punching bag much bigger than her. Even though her whole body ached and she had plenty of fresh bruises, Genesis figured it wouldn't hurt to get more practice in.

"I'll do whatever you suggest...Cliff" she had played around with saying his name in her room privately but couldn't get used to it. It was almost like two different guys but she knew that wasn't true. To her "Rush" was the big guy that spilled confidence but "Cliff" was the guy in front of her that spilled nervousness. She ddecided that when it was just them she'd call him "Cliff" and that would be her special little nugget.

 

She put her hand into his and led him from the room and down the hall, it was then she noticed the flowers. "Are those for me?"

Rush smiled slightly hearing her say his name. It was strange, but not unwelcome. He grasped her hand gently and followed her. "I... right, the flowers. Yeah, they're for you. I'm sorry, I was just so stunned by how beautiful you are that I forgot about them. Do you like flowers? I just kind of figured most girls usually do, so..." He shrugged and held them out to her. "Anyway, they're yours."

When Genesis left, Minx immediately changed into something more comfortable, wincing as the clothes brushed against her still tender bruises.What she had put on was a sweater, jeans and a cap. She sat on her bed and pulled out her pad and pen. Tapping it against her mouth slightly, she blinked and the new personality took over. She then immediately began drawing and coming up with names that she liked.

She happily took and smiled down at the bouquet. Whisper was blushing furiously at his compliment and accidentally squeezed his hand. "Yes, I love flowers! Nature and wildlife are great" she sniffed her flowers "running through a field of these must be the best feeling ever...". She gasped.

 

"I didn't get you anything! I'm sorry!" she looked at him apologetically.

Rush shook his head. "You don't have to worry about that. I don't need you to get me anything at all. It's enough just to have the pleasure of your company. I'll shower you in gifts because it's in my nature to do so, but I couldn't ask for anything more in return than to see a smile on your pretty face."

Alphonse took out his earbuds and turned to see Genesis. "Oh, hey Genesis, what's up? So are you just now getting in to kickboxing?" He asked, stopping his assault on the bag for a moment to go over to where he put his bag and grabbed a bottle of water and took a drink of it. It helped to get something that would actually hydrate him, rather than alcohol, though he did have a little alcohol stashed in case he wanted to practice the drunken fist.

"Hmm? Oh hello Muscles. Nah, just the first time I showed up to an actual meeting. I fight regularly" she cocked her head to the side and watched him drink his water. "That is water right?" she chuckled.

"So!" she hopped in front of him but kept walking backwards "Where are we going Mr.Cliff?".

A vein started pulsing on Alphonse's forehead. "Of course it's water! And before you ask, yes I can do Zui Quan, and no, you can't do it while drunk!" He capped the water and threw it over to his bag. "I need a sparring partner, think you're up to the challenge?" He offered, folding his arms indignantly. 'Just because I drink a lot off hours doesn't mean I'm always hammered! Who does she think she is?' He thought to himself.

Genesis smiled at the massive man and held out her arm towards the practice ring "Promise I can take you". She didn't mean to offend the man but it was getting fun to see him flustered. She turned and slunk into the ring staying to her side and rolling her neck and shoulders then taking a hairband pulled her hair into a little foofy ponytail. "C'mon big guy" she nodded towards him.

Alphonse stepped in to the ring and put up his fists. "Gladly." He started shuffling towards Genesis and threw a couple jabs to look for any weaknesses in her defenses. Finding none that were immediately obvious, he stayed back waiting for her to throw a couple punches to scope out her offensive potential.

The back seat of Bens moms car smelled like melted jelly beans and chocolate. Ben's mom drove with silence away from the Mc Donald's they had just eaten at, ignoring the children in the back seat.

 

Ben and Katie both sat cross legged and unbuckled in the back seat taking turns drawing random things on a scratch paper and attempting to guess what the other was drawing.

 

"It's..." Katie grinned, "Mitt Romney...violating a pineapple"

 

Ben hands shook with laughter, making some of the lines wonky, "not even close, that's another point for me" he laughed

 

"Oh, oh, I know, a charmander...wait no, it's-" the car came to a stop, "Oh, we're here!"

 

"What would an 'oh we're here' even look like?"

 

Katie snickered, "Shut up." She gave him a mock punch, "Need help unloading your stuff?"

 

"Oh sure, that would be great." Ben responded stuffing the paper in his pants pocket.

 

The two of them grabbed various bags and lugged them to the North wing of Kadic, the boys dorms. Katie unloaded some of the stuff in Ben's room and the two eventually decided to spend the rest of the night watching cartoons on Ben's laptop. They draped a sheet over the top bunk, effectively turning the bottom into a tent, and they sat around on his bed and watched reruns of South Park and Doctor Who, just like when they were kids. Katie fell asleep cuddled on Ben's arms, content with just being a normal kid, and hoping the teachers wouldn't come to yell at her, but deciding she wouldn't care if they did.

Rush smiled at her enthusiasm. It was one of the things he loved most about her. "It's a nice restaurant in town. Upscale, but not too fancy. They have all kinds of food, and all of it's great. I picked it because I wasn't sure what kind of food you'd like. They serve huge portions, though. And that's saying something coming from someone as big as me. But before we head to the restaurant, I thought maybe we could take a walk in the park, work up an appetite, you know?"

Though she was shorter than many her age, Genesis never let it be a disadvantage. She could easily dodge the practice jabs he was throwing at her and ducked low to deliver a side sweep to his ribs. Her punches were swift and solid and she wasn't afraid to let them fly at someone twice her size.

"Yes! Fantastic idea!" she pulled him into a light sprint off the school grounds. Whisper looked around and began to walk in the direction of the park with Rush.

Rush followed behind her, hurrying to keep up with her fast pace. "You're so much fun, you know? It's impossible not to get caught up in it when you get excited, and you just have such wonderful energy. I guess that might sound weird, but it's true. Not to mention that you're absolutely adorable when you get excited about things."

Alphonse noted that Genesis was very spry and that direct attacks wouldn't be a good idea. He took the punch to the chest however, but he wasn't really hurt. He was fairly strong, but not overly so. He was able to take the hits, so he did. She wasn't a real strong puncher, however. At least, it didn't feel like it, so he could try to wear her down in a war of attrition.

Dex walked into his room after a long day, and not just because he had to re-live it twice. The classes had been preliminary stuff, when tests were, what was expected of students, various policies, and so on and so forth. He sat down at his desk and started to do one of the only things that relaxed him, using his computer. he began to brainstorm and jot down ideas as they came.

She could feel that her punches didn't have much affect on his hard muscled body. Genesis did not have her full energy due to a fight prior but she kept up with Alphonse, working up a good sweat. So, she switched to kicks which were much harder than her punches. She knew to play keep-away and that he wanted to wear her down but she was determined.

Somehow they got to the park with Whisper being especially giggly and red. She sat down tucking her legs under her in the shade of a large tree. "I hope you don't mind if we sit for a second...it's such a nice day."

Rush nodded and sat next to her. "Sure, I wouldn't mind a chance to rest after trying to keep up with you. Not that I'm complaining. I can't remember when the last time I enjoyed myself this much was, and we've hardly even done anything. It's so nice just being around you. I just hope you're as happy tonight as I am."

She rolled her eyes playfully at him and smiled "Yes, I'm really happy Cliff." Her mood shifted slightly; a little worry tinted her voice " This....this isn't just so I end up back at your room is it?" it had eaten away at her all day. That morning, when she had walked into class with Rush, it seemed like most of her female classmates wanted her to burn alive. Their stares had told her that.
