Rush nodded and followed her. "I'll go with you, and maybe I'll be able to show you around a little bit or whatever. The virtual world is pretty cool, but it's also weird. Like, when I arrived there my clothes were different and I had a big hammer all of a sudden. I don't know what was up with that." He turned back to the rest of the group. "Does anyone else want to come down with us?"

She had followed them silently. Mind racing about different things.

She stood quietly looking at them. With a little nervousness she asked " Is there anyone good with gadgets? Like electronics?". Whisper entwined her fingers together and looked down at them "I was thinking that we could alter a pacemaker...to regulate her heart...you know..."

Dex was reading through what XANA is when a warning flared up on the screen. "Speak of the devil." He said as he launched a scan of Lyoko. "Where are you?" He then picked something up. "Desert sector huh? You just don't let up, do you?" With that, Dex began the start-up sequence for the scanners, unaware he was about to have company.

Rush shook his head. "I certainly don't have the skills for something like that. If someone does, though, it's a good idea, and we should probably take care of it sooner rather than later. Of course that's assuming Minx is okay with it. But since I don't think we really have the means to do that at the moment anyway, I'm more concerned with going back and checking out that virtual world again. Are Minx and I the only ones going?"

Alphonse stepped in the elevator before it closed, leaving Katie to think for herself. He leaned against one of the walls. He had hoped that he would get to choose it, like with an interface or something, but he wasn't sure. "I think I'd be interested in checking it out. Do you get to customize your avatar or is it just assigned to you or what?"

As Arti waited in the elevator, and decided to speak up, "So that virtual world we were in, it was, very realistic, yet you could tell it wasn't real. This other guy ran into that tower right before we found ourselves back in time... so maybe he's the key for us finding out what happened."

Minx slid to the floor as the elevator started to head it's way down. She brought her legs to her chest and just sat there. "I think a pacemaker might be good." Minx said. She could feel the stutters start to come back but she made an effort to keep her speech fluent. "So it's just Alphonse, Rush and I going right?" She asked.

Rush shrugged. "It seems like it just decides for you. Not that I had a particular problem with mine, though. I think it must be based on something from the data it scans from you, or whatever it is that the tube things are actually doing before they send you there."

"Tube things? Like stasis pods from sci-fi movies and stuff?" Alphonse asked. He turned towards Minx. "You realize a pacemaker is implanted in your chest, and you need surgery to put it in there in the first place, right? I think it would just be easier to have a mobile defibrillator that you can carry on your back or something and just passively charge it up with your electric powers, and in case something goes wrong, have someone resuscitate you. Unless you want to go to the hospital and get a pacemaker, which is fine, but even then, the electrical powers might fry it if they generate an electromagnetic pulse." He shrugged. "Sorry to shoot down your hopes."

Katie was now sitting against the wall rapidly sketching as the elevator came rolling up. She probably had to leave now, but she would go down in a second she was in the zone! She drew a boy, dark eyes and white hair with black streaks. Maybe 13 or 14 years of age. She drew him dressed in cargo shorts and a T-shirt, flip flops hanging off his feet. He was leaning up against the trunk of a tree and he held in his hand a whisky bottle hoisting it above his head like a trophy.

 

Katie couldn't help but grin at the drawing, the boy in the sketch was an old friend. Maybe if she hadn't been so caught up in the art and memories, she would have heard the buzzing.

She was frustrated. So far, the alcoholic had shot down all her ideas or made her feel like an idiot. Well both. She leaned against the wall, saying nothing about her new choice to go.

 

So I guess we have to find some magical tower with a powerful wizard to exorcise the electricity from her heart.

Minx frowned and bowed her head. "I know that. It just sound like a good idea." Minx muttered quietly. Her body shook slightly with her quiet sobs. "Why did you tell her that!?" Devilinx shouted. Minx waited for everyone else to leave the elevator so that she can get to the virtual world.

Rush could tell that something was wrong with Whisper. He moved in close to her and spoke quietly so that the others couldn't hear. "Hey, don't let a drunken idiot get you down like that. Your idea was a good one, and a thoughtful one, regardless of what he thinks."

"Oi! I was only telling her the truth, and I even gave an idea that was more realistic!" Alphonse said. "Tell the original that I'm sorry."

 

"Idiot? I take offense to that!" He shouted. "I didn't mean to hurt her feelings, I was only saying the plan wouldn't work and might kill her, so we shouldn't do it. It'd be much better to just have her walk around with a defibrillator in her backpack in case something goes wrong!"

Rush rolled his eyes. He wasn't going to argue about this. "Whatever. If you want to just shoot down everything anybody says, go ahead. Anyway, no, we don't have to do anything as far as I can tell. Somebody in the computer room has to do something to send us in, though. And is everyone else sure they're staying behind? I figure we should all go in sooner or later, just to figure it out for ourselves."

Thunder Dash saw an open tube and went in it. Blitz followed and waited for the virtualization to occur. "All they need to do is to scan us, and then we'll be back in Lyoko." Thunder stated. "Yes, I can't wait to go back. The first time in a while was awesome, but this time, it's gonna be better." Blitz stated.

Whisper huffed and walked into a tube "It's fine, guy-who-drinks. You're a very blunt person I guess. We can only offer suggestions to help. It's up to Minx what to do. At least we give her different ideas".

 

She was still angry sure but she figured it would let her face Lyoko better.

Minx headed into a vacant tube and waited for something to happen. There were still tear tracks on her face but she refused to wipe them off. The idea of the pacemaker was a really good one but she knew that Alphonse was correct. Even if it hurt, she was glad he said it.

Rush tried not to let the sudden arguing get him into a bad mood as he entered a tube. "Is someone ready at the computer room to send us in? We're just going to be standing around like idiots otherwise." As he waited to be sent in he mentally prepared himself for the feeling of being sent in again.

"I'm only shooting down things that won't work anyway." Alphonse stepped out of the elevator and went to one of the scanners. "So are we doing this thing or what? Is someone up at the computer right now?" He asked, banging on the inside of the tube. "And my name is Alphonse dammit!"

Dex heard commotion below him and decided to check it out. He climbed down the ladder to see what it was, only to discover the people he saw yesterday, or today...damn time travel.

 

"Oh its you guys." He said bluntly. "Well, I guess I'm not the only one looking for answers. But we have a situation, and unless you feel like handling it, I suggest you get out of those scanners"

Whisper jumped up in her tube when he yelled at her.

 

"Won't work?! And your idea of making her a walking de-fib? Have someone stand-by in case she needs resuscitation?" she flailed her arms. "Why not just admit her to a nursing home or better yet slap a red cross on her and-" she was caught off guard by the boy she had seen in the computer room before. Whisper quieted down in embarrassment.

"Don't worry. I feel like handling it." Minx said angrily. She knew that they were trying to see if she was okay but Minx was sick of it. Sure, she has a heart condition. Sure, she can now use electricity. She just wanted to know what happens in the virtual world.

Thunder and Blitz waited patiently. "Ugh...when will they stop arguing with each other." Thunder thought to himself. He then eyed the computer. "I don't know if I could go in and run the program to start the scan to get back in my tube on time..." He thought again.

"I'm not saying MAKE her a walking defib, give her an actual defibrillator to carry around." He turned up and saw the computer guy up on the ladder. "On it chief." He said, getting back in the scanner. He knocked on the roof of it and said "Whenever you're ready, I'm interested to see the other side."
