Die?

 

Whisper at the last second ducked and rolled, coming up and jumping into a run after Rush. She let an arrow loose into one of the monsters directed towards Rush. She had to beat the megatank to him, the sudden need suddenly unlocked a surge of energy. Her speed tripled and she was next to Rush in no time, leaving a cloud of dust behind her. Having no idea what happened, she turned back to shoot at the megatank.

Rush didn't know what was going on, but all of a sudden Whisper was there with him, and he felt a lot safer with her there. "I...Thank you. It's good having you here with me." It was then that he noticed her firing at the tank heading towards him and he quickly dove out of it's path, getting up and making a final sprint for the tower.

"Thanks." Alphonse said to Angelinx. "Where's that kid that I was fighting earlier. I've got his megatank right here!" He tapped the bottom of his flail to the ground. "We need to hurry this up, whatever's happening topside can't be good. I haven't heard from Dex in ages."

In the dead of night, a lone girl stood upon a rooftop. She was slender, dressed all in black with a headset placed elegantly in her hair. She had light eyes and long pink hair that flowed down to her knees. Her name was Aelita, former Lyoko warrior and full time bad ass.

 

"William," Aelita whispered into her headset, "Are you in?"

 

"Just broke into their surveillance cameras," he responded, "switching them off in 3, 2, 1. You're good."

 

"Thanks." Aelita grabbed a small device from her pocket, it looked like a pen with a button on the side. She placed it on the rooftop and held down the button, a tiny green laser shot from the pen, cutting through the ceiling like butter, creating a hole just big enough to slip through. She made the jump and landed about 6 feet down in a small attic.

 

"I'm through," she told William. "Switch over to the cameras, keep me monitored. I'm shutting down communications now to avoid them picking up."

 

"Roger."

 

Aelita killed her headset and went roaming about the attic. It was very empty with only an old couch rotting in the corner. The place was dark and dusty and smelled of mould as if it hadn't been used in ages.

 

She found the stairs leading to the floor below and climbed down. The lower floor was very different. Clean white halls and bright florescent lights made for a very closed in feel. Closed doors lined the hallway with no numbers marking which was which. It felt like a hospital, but strangely cruel. It lacked life and felt lonely. Aelita frowned and questioned her style choice, with the dark feel of her clothes she looked very much like a spy. But regardless, she was able to sneak her way around the big empty halls and managed to find her way to an elevator. She took it down to the lowest floor it could go,the ground floor. Then she ran into trouble.

 

5 men were sitting around a table joking with each other, each of them wearing a similar color scheme to Aelita, black suits with sunglasses regardless of the lack of sun. One scowled up at her, "Who are you?!?" he asked hand going for his gun.

 

Aelita's mind raced, but she was able to give the rehearsed lie, "You don't know." She said sternly, "and frankly you aren't qualified to know. Harken sent me. If you question my authority I'll have you killed in your sleep. Understand?"

 

The men all looked terrified, "Ye-yes ma'am." They all stood to give a scared salute, "My dearest apologies, send High Commander Harken my-"

 

"Not another word. Get back to work, all of you."

 

Aelita left without a goodbye in search of the basement.

 

She eventually found the door. It wasn't guarded by anything more than a digital 6 number lock and a camera. Aelita gave a thumbs up to the camera, and pointed at the number lock. The small light on the camera began to flash, ..--- / ----. / ..... / --... / -.... / .---- Morse code. She mouthed 'thanks William' before typing in the code, 2-9-5-7-6-1.

 

The door swung open.

 

She made her way into the basement, it was much like the attic, dusty and unused. But unlike the attic it was overflowing with stuff. Mostly boxes with mass amounts of papers in them. One such box was labelled 'Prisoner Files: P-T, Female' Aelita gulped and opened it, was she really about to find what she had been searching for the last 6 years? Information on her mother?

 

She went through the files, starting in the area with the ‘S' tab.

There it was.

She pulled out the documents, happy tears welling up in her eyes, not knowing that every men in black agent had just been contacted to be on the lookout for a girl with long pink hair.

 

Aelita didn't have time to read the documents, or to leave. The door opened up, the 5 agents from earlier stood glaring at her. "What are you buffoons doing here?" Aelita asked, "I told you to get back to w-" She stopped as she suddenly had 5 guns fixed at her chest. She only barely had time to draw her own gun when she heard the shots.

 

Return to the past now!

 

She gasped looking abound frantically, she was at her kitchen table, a bowl of chicken soup in front of her, William at her side holding up a big map of the building she had just broken into.

 

Both of them were mortified.

 

"I-" Aelita started, "I was already here."

 

William nodded slowly, "Yeah, I know" Then he burst into laughter, "We're in the past! Oh my god we're in the past! Ahahahaha!" His phone rang and he answered it a grin on his face, "Hey sweets, let me guess, calling for milk? I'll bye it on the way home." He hung up and continued laughing.

 

"Will, this isn't funny!! The super computer must be on!"

 

"Than I guess we'll be expecting a call from Jeremy any time now." Aelita's phone rang and William snapped it off the nearby counter top, throwing it casually to the pink haired girl. "There he is!"

 

 

“I'm just taking Kiwi out for a walk. I'll be back in a bit.” Odd said to Cissy. Odd had restyled his hair to make it look like it had before he had gone into Lyoko. Straight, long and going down to his shoulders. His hair also had purple tips and purple highlights. He was wearing what he usually wore nowadays. A purple jacket with a black T-shirt that has a picture of a dog on it. He also wore light blue denim jeans with purple sneakers.

“Okay, Odd.” Cissy responded. It was a mystery how these two got together. Cissy had her long waist-length ebony hair tied back in a plait. She was wearing a knee-length pink dress with black sandals. She flipped the plait behind her shoulder and walked out of the room. Odd went to go get Kiwi's leash and then proceeded to try and find Kiwi.

 

“Come here boy. Come on.” Odd said, patting his knees and whistling. The dog bounded out of nowhere and leaped onto his master, licking his face happily. Odd laughed and pushed Kiwi off of him. Kiwi hadn't changed much. He was still the same overweight mutt.

 

He put the leash on Kiwi and walked out the door, whistling under his breath. It was night out but Odd reckons it was the best time to take his dog out for a walk. He used to do it all the time in school so the habit has been ingrained into his memory.

 

Odd had walked a fair bit away from the house he shared with Cissy. He went to turn back but decided to continue walking around the fairly large block. Kiwi stopped and struggled on the leash when Odd kept walking. Odd looked down and followed the leash back to Kiwi who was doing his business.

 

“Oh, is that what you're doing Kiwi?” Odd asked in mockery. He waited for Kiwi to finish then he turned the corner and began heading back home.

 

Odd walked back inside his home. “Cissy? I'm home!” Odd called out. He put Kiwi's leash back in it's place and saw Cissy walk in.

 

Return to the past!

 

Odd blinked as he helped his wife put the shopping away. He just started to laugh. He knew that this meant that XANA was back but he also knew that someone had re-activated the supercomputer.

 

“What are you laughing at?” Cissy asked. Her lips were pursed. Odd was about to answer when his phone started to ring.

 

 

3 hours of hell and Yumi had finally found peace. She was sitting on a bar stool that was pushed up beside a crib. The room around her was a mess, toys cluttered the floor and a pile of blankets had been knocked over leaving them scattered and unfolded. Yumi held in her hand an empty baby bottle and a pacifier. She looked down at the sleeping child in the crib with a smile. Her little boy had finally fallen asleep. Yumi rubbed her eyes and rested on the side of the crib railing, she would sleep anywhere at this point, her one-year-old had kept her up for 4 days straight with a fever, but he was better now, and quieter too.

 

She had nearly fallen asleep when the door opened, it was her husband, Ulrich. He smiled at Yumi and threw one of the blankets over her. "Come to bed when you’re awake enough." He whispered kissing Yumi on the head.

 

Yumi muttered back something, but was already falling asleep.

 

Return to the past now!

 

Yumi was suddenly awake, holding the baby in her arms, standing in the living room of all places. Instead of it being dead of night, the sun was just going down. And the baby was crying.

 

Shocked, she turned to her husband, who was gazing at his computer screen mouth agape. “Honey,” Yumi said, “Did we just…?”

 

“I’m calling Jeremy. Now.” Ulrich took out his cell and typed in the number, Yumi just nodded.

 

Jeremy had walked into his room, putting his university stuff on his bed. He walked over to the computer and tried to get it started. It didn't work so he went to fixing it up himself. He opened the compartment for the wirings inside the computer and set to work.

 

After finishing up, he rebooted the computer and waited for it to load. It loaded up and almost instantly, a program popped up with the Eye of XANA on it. Jeremy got a shocked look on his face. “No no no. How!? How is XANA still alive!? I need to call the others.”

 

Return to the past now!

 

Jeremy had an extremely worried look on his face as he sat in the traffic, heading home. “This cannot be happening.” Jeremy said. He got his mobile and keyed in the necessary information for a conference call. He pulled to the side of the road and waited for someone to pick up. He wasn't that surprised when Ulrich picked it up. “Ulrich? This is worse than I thought.” Jeremy said.

 

“Sorry Cissy, I gotta take this.” Odd said. He sat in the front passenger seat and let Cissy drive them home. He had a feeling it was Jeremy. “What? Jeremy slow down. Yes, I experienced the same thing. You got Ulrich on the line as well? Hey Ulrich, how are ya?” Odd talked into his phone.

 

"I’m fine odd." Ulrich said into the conference call. "We're on our way to the factory. I just have to drop my kid off at the daycare." He grabbed the crying baby from Yumi and rushed to the car, buckling the baby in. Yumi took the wheel.

 

Ulrich hopped into the passenger’s seat turning his phone way up and putting it on speaker. "So," he said as the car turned the corner into heavy traffic. "How has everyone been?

 

Jeremy shook his head and slowly started to drive towards the factory, a blue tooth was in his ear. "Enough about that Odd. Hey Aelita. Haven't heard from you in a while or William for that matter. Listen up guys, We'll all meet at the factory and try to figure out what the hell is going on." Jeremy told them. He kept his blue tooth on in case they had to talk more.

 

Aelita was out the door in 10 seconds flat, grabbing all the necessary equipment for the trip which she had packed in a bag sitting by the door labelled 'Lyoko'.

 

She switched to her blue tooth immediately, "On my way Jeremy! See you there. Will, are you coming?!?"

 

William nodded, "Yeah, lets go!" The two took off, getting in the car and heading to a place of dreams and nightmares. The factory.

 

Odd put his phone on speaker so that Cissy can listen in too. "Well, I've been good. Can't say much for Cissy though." Odd said with a grin. Cissy just huffed and made a quick stop at home to put all the groceries away. They got back in the car and resumed their trip to the factory.

 

"Cissy? Oh boy." Jeremy said. He pulled up just outside the bridge of the factory and witnessed a sight of bees attacking it. "Guys? There are bees attacking the factory." Jeremy told them.

 

"Bees?" Yumi questioned, "Really? Does anyone have anything to fight them off with?"

"Really. Bees." Jeremy confirmed. He heard Ulrich say something to the baby and just waited for them to arrive. "Aelita and William. How have you two been doing? I haven't heard from you in ages." Jeremy said.

 

"I've been great!" William grinned "But Aelita on the other hand, she's been getting into trouble. She nearly got killed today in fact! 5 guns trained on her chest!"

 

"Shut up." Aelita whispered, her friends didn't know about her midnight trips into military bases, they didn't know much at all about her life. She tried to change the subject. "I have bee killer though!"

 

"Shot at?" Jeremy asked. He was glad the RttP happened then.

 

"Bee killer? What kind of bee killer?" Odd asked her as he walked up to Jeremy. He told Cissy to drive back home and wait for him there. "Hey Einstein. Long time no see pal." Odd said. He hi-fived Jeremy and continued to listen.

 

"5 guns?!?" Yumi asked pulling into the daycare parking lot.

 

"Pew pew!" The baby yelled from the back seat.

 

"Aelita, what have you been doing?!?" Ulrich asked.

 

"You know her," William grinned, "Can't stay away from adventure!"

 

Aelita gave Will a stone cold glare.

 

"What?" Will asked loud enough for the others to hear, "They were going to find out eventually, and frankly I was hoping it would be before your funeral."

 

Yumi groaned, "I'll be right back Aelita. We are not finished with this conversation!" She got the baby out of the car and took him to the Daycare center.

 

Jeremy looked up as he heard some more buzzing. He couldn't believe it! There were more bees on the way! "I really hate to bother you but there are more bees on the way and if you don't hurry then whoever activated the last RttP won't be able to do so again." Jeremy said urgently. "Besides, what were you doing that made you get shot at!?" Jeremy asked Aelita.

 

Odd looked at the bees surrounding the factory. "Aelita, I know that William said you were shot at but we're going to need a lot more bee killer." Odd said.

 

"Like how much?" Aelita asked. From the driver’s seat, she pointed to her supply bag, a cue for William to go through it. He did so.

 

"We have two cans." he concluded. "Hey what brand is this?" He asked Aelita, staring at the strange can.

 

"Not a legal brand." She said.

 

"Stole it from one of the bases?"

 

"Yup, that stuff is pretty strong, don't spray it in the car."

 

"How much more bee killer? Uuh-" Odd was interrupted by Jeremy.

 

"Two cans aren't going to be enough Aelita. Looking at the bees and how large of a group they are I'm going to have to say at least a factory full. If not more." Jeremy said. He leaned against his car and looked over at Odd. "So. How have you been Odd?" Jeremy asked him. After all the stuff they went through before, this will be a cake walk.

 

"I'm fine." Odd replied with a shrug.

 

"Alright, we're on our way!" Yumi said hopping back into the car.

"We'll hang up for now, my phone's dying." Ulrich put in. "See you all in a sec."

 

"Bye guys!" Aelita said as they hung up.

 

Aelita had made it to the factory, she pulled up her car by Jeremy stepping out and giving Jeremy a hug. Then Odd. Then she saw the factory. Bees swarmed buzzing in and out through every window "Wow, when you said 'a factory full,' you weren't kidding. Do you think they can see us?" she asked Jeremy.

 

William climbed out of the passengers seat, shouldering the massive pack of survival items. "I could have sworn you packed this thing full of bricks." He complained.

 

Aelita giggled and turned back to Jeremy. They all chatted for a little while and soon a car pulled up.

 

"Hey guys!" Ulrich waved from his window

 

The pair got out of the car "So where are these ...whoa, that's a lot of bees.

 

"Yeah. no kidding." Odd said. He gestured to the pack William carried. "What's in that kit? A bunch bricks?" Odd asked curiously

 

"Aelita, please tell me you have more than two cans in that bag of yours and no they haven't seen us yet. If they have, you would have heard screaming." Jeremy said.

 

“Well Odd, over the years whenever I thought about something that might be helpful fighting Xana, I put it in the bag…just in case. Good thing I did too. But no, I only have two cans. Bees were low on the list of threats.

 

Odd sighed and walked forward into the midst of the bee swarm. He didn't feel any stings when he walked past them. It was almost as if they were focused on something else that was inside. "The bees aren't stinging me! We can just walk right through!" Odd called out to them.

 

"It appears we don't need the cans but get them out anyway, just in case." Jeremy said as he followed Odd.

 

"Right." Said Aelita. She threw the spray to Jeremy. "Let's go." She took off into the bees. "Come on guys, whoever is in there needs our help."

 

Katie stared at the computer pointing to things on the screen and asking Dex what they stood for. Minx finished plunging up any openings, and Katie felt kinda sorry for not helping, she was too intrigued with the screen. Minx looked tired when she had finished.

 

"I. Think. I found all. Of them:" Minx said.

 

Katie nodded, "Good." She hummed, watching the dots on the interface combat each other. Then she heard the elevator rumble. Her eyes bugged.

 

"GUYS!" She yelped, "I think the bees learned how to use the elevator!"

 

"Bees can't. Use. Elevators. Can they?" Minx asked as she watched the elevator doors open. Out stepped a young adult and the rest stayed behind. The elevator closed and went down another floor to the scanners.

 

Jeremy looked at the place and saw a few kids at the super computer. "Bees attacking the factory. XANA attack." Jeremy muttered to himself. He walked over to the computer and leaned over to the keyboard. "Sorry about this but I need it quickly." Jeremy said.

 

The other five adults had gone down to the scanner room and stepped inside. They each stepped inside a scanner and they felt themselves being scanned and virtualized.

 

"Good. You're in." Jeremy said with a sigh of relief. He thought it wouldn't work since they were older but to his relief, it did.

Alphonse turned and saw three people virtualize at once, and then a fourth followed. All seemed fairly old, at least older than him. Five years at least. One of whom looked almost identical to the adversary he had been fighting earlier. He readied his flail just in case. "Oi. Who are all of you then?" Alphonse asked, pointing his long flail at the new arrivals.

Odd and William looked around at the desert sector and grinned. Odd saw a person with a casket and flail and it appeared to be pointed right at them. "Who are we? We are the Lyoko Warriors. The original ones. I'm Odd and these are William, Ulrich, Yumi, Aelita and there is a sixth one. He's at the computer and his name is Jeremy." Odd stated.

"Lyoko Warriors, eh? Well, excuse me if I have no clue what that means because we honestly just discovered this crazy place. And considering the fact that there was a version of you that attacked me and my friends, I'm a bit suspicious. Though, considering the fact that you haven't shot at us yet, it's helping your case." Alphonse stated. "Anyways, I'm Alphonse. So, you got any info on what the hell is going on? Something came from this factory and possessed one of our group who is back up in the computer room right now and made her in to a demoness shooting hellfire out of her hands. Did you guys do any occult rituals or whatever down in the bowels of this facility or anything? The names C'thulu or R'yleh mean anything to you?" He asked.

"Lyoko Warriors. It's name we came up with. When we discovered this place, we had no idea what it was either. That is, until I dug a little deeper. This place is called Lyoko. It's a whole 3D World made up of five different sectors. The 'demon' is called XANA. He's a self-aware AI gone rogue. XANA was created by the creator of Lyoko. Franz Hopper, who also happens to be Aelita's father. Although C'thulu and R'yleh do ring bells, we didn't do any occult rituals or anything like that." Jeremy explained to Alphonse.

 

"And that's the sixth member." Odd said.

"Interesting." Alphonse stated. "So, is Franz still around? Surely since he created Xana, he would know how to take him out, right? Also, why was this even built in the first place? Was it supposed to be a video game or something? And what about the scanners? I have a ton of questions, but honestly, I don't think this is the time. I'll wait until we finish dealing with whatever problem is going on topside." He stated.

"I think that would be for the best." Jeremy said. He looked over at the three kids who were in the room with him. In particular, he looked at the one with her hand over her heart. "Are you okay?" Jeremy asked her. She looked at him and simply nodded her head, then she turned back to the screen. Jeremy went to look at it too and saw an enemy come up behind William. "William, Blok behind you." Jeremy said.

 

William put his hand to the ground and dragged his sword out from the shadows. He then flipped backwards and landed behind the block. Grinning, he then stabbed the sword into the target in front of him, causing it to explode. "Can't XANA do anything better?" William asked sarcastically.

Arti had been staring blankly at the events that just happened. This guy just suddenly walked in, and took over the supercomputer. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing as well, seeing how naturally he handled it. He moved to an angle in the computer room where he could see Jeremy clearly.

 

"Ooookay!" Said Arti aloud, "One, this is probably a trick. You just showed up, and i'm pretty sure you have something to do with this machine." Arti was ready to grab his concealed gun if need be, "Now, are you government agents, or from some secret corporation?"

"No, I am not from a secret corporation and no we are not government agents. When we were foing to Kadic, we used to use the super computer and Lyoko to save the world. Does that answer your question?" Jeremy asked.

 

Minx didn't so much as move an inch when she heard Arti. She just spared a glance and looked blankly at the bank of computers.

Alphonse followed behind the motley crew of the so-called 'original Lyoko Warriors'. He nudged Odd. "So, looks like I'm not the only one that got some animalistic traits, eh?" He said, chuckling. "So I'm assuming you all know the codes or whatever to the towers and such? Also, how many different terrains are there? I remember the first incident we had, the people that were connected to the computer said that they were in some sort of a forest, and we're in a desert now, so I'm assuming there are different biomes or whatever."

"Well, vaguely..." replied arti, as he was still unsure about this guy and his group, "But I guess it is better letting you handle this then getting eaten by bees...."

 

Arti stepped closer to the computer to have a better look at it, before he spoke up again, "So if you didn't make this, where did it come from, why is it trying to murder us, and why don;t we kill it? Sure being a virtual superhero is fun, but not to the point of risking  lives of others..."

"The only one that knows the codes to deactivate the towers is Aelita but practically anyone can get into the tower if they try hard enough. And with Sector Five, make sure to complete the time trials as quickly as possible. You'll understand what I mean if you ever go there." Yumi said.

Minx pushed herself off the chair and managed to stay upright. She slowly walked over to Arti and went to put a hand on his shoulder but before she could she gasped in pain and knelt on the floor. Minx just pressed her hands against her heart tighter.

Arti turned to Minx immediately in surprise as she seemed to collapse. In response, he knelt know and asked, "Minx, what's wrong? This isn't good..."

 

He immediately looked up at Jeremy, "Okay, can you help her? If not, we need to get her to a hospital fast!"

 

Arti knew that this was a predicament, as there was a swarm of bees outside the factory ready to kill them. He knew he had to do something though.

"Sorry, I can't help her. But," Jeremy shrugged off his jacket and shirt and handed them to him. "This will help protect her exposed skin from the bee stings." Jeremy said. He couldn't leave his position at the super computer so he did the next best thing. He gave them the unused spray cans from before. "Take these as well, they will help you get out of the bee swarm." Jeremy waited for him to take the cans.

"Like Jeremy said. There are five different sectors. At the moment you're in the desert. There is also the forest sector, the mountain sector and the ice sector. There is a fifth sector and since we can't describe what it looks like then we just call it sector five. It's really amazing though." Odd explained the different sectors. Yumi sighed and told Alphonse about the codes.

 

"The only one that knows the codes to deactivate the towers is Aelita but practically anyone can get into the tower if they try hard enough. And with Sector Five, make sure to complete the time trials as quickly as possible. You'll understand what I mean if you ever go there." Yumi said.

 

"Interesting." Alphonse pondered. "I may just have to visit some time. Time trials aren't exactly my thing in this form though, as you can probably tell." He said, jiggling his fuzzy belly. "I'm more suited to direct combat. That actually reminds me, is it possible to use this as a fighting simulator just for the fun of it or to settle a debate when XANA isn't about? Or does it actually harm your real body when you are in here?"

"Sorry, I can't help her. But," Jeremy shrugged off his jacket and shirt and handed them to him. "This will help protect her exposed skin from the bee stings." Jeremy said. He couldn't leave his position at the super computer so he did the next best thing. He gave them the unused spray cans from before. "Take these as well, they will help you get out of the bee swarm." Jeremy waited for him to take the cans.

Arti grabbed the spray cans and put the jacket over Minx, then nodded, "Alright, I'll get her some help. You just figure out how to stop this thing."

 

He picked up minx, which was slightly difficult, and too her to the elevator, and looked back at Jeremy once more before pressing the button to go up.

"It doesn't harm your real body. Why do you think we look and act different when we are in here? And yes, it is possible to use this to settle a debate but only until XANA activates a tower. Then you'll have to find the tower and deactivate it. You can use it to fight off XANA's monsters and train if that's what you mean." Aelita told him.

 

"We're getting nowhere fast. Jeremy, think you can program the vehicles?" Odd asked Jeremy.

 

Jeremy gave him a nod before the elevator doors closed and turned back to the computer. "Sorry but I can't. For whatever reason, when the super computer turned back on, it erased the program that had your vehicles in them. The Skid is still here but I doubt you want that." Jeremy replied with a chuckle.

Minx's eyes fluttered open and all that she could see was the fabric of a jacket but she heard extremely loud buzzing noises. She felt herself being jostled about but was too weak to do anything about it.

"The Skid? The bloody hell is a Skid?" Alphonse asked. "And vehicles? What kinds are there? I mean, yeah we are kind of on a time limit, but it doesn't look more than a hundred meters away." He pulled out his mug and dipped it in his cask, taking a swig, offering it to his companions. "Ale anyone?"

William decided to speak for the group. "There WERE three programmed vehicles. They were called The Overboard, the Overwing and the Overbike. The Overboard is a hoverboard. The Overwing is basically a flying chariot with no horses and the Overbike is a flying unicycle with a motor." William said. "The Skid is a vehicle that Jeremy and Aelita created to help us get through the Digital Sea without dying. It can only carry four people though," William continued.

 

Odd waved his hand about in the air. "Ooh me me me!" Odd said. He wanted some ale.

 

Jeremy looked at the computer screen and saw that they were barely a hundred metres away. "I just had to let a girl named Minx go with a boy to the hospital because she collapsed so if you could pick up the pace, that would be grand." Jeremy stated.
