The Equilibrium Ultimatum

 

Most Important details needed:

1. This is in the MLP Fifth Generation setting.

2. This is to be considered a Mature Roleplay, due to the nature of some plot elements.

3. There must always be a balance and all things.

4. Disruption of balance is met with harsh consequences, be warned.

5. No one is safe or immune to the previous two rules, not even the GM.

 

Day and Night.

Night and Day.

Light and Dark.

Dark and Light.

Beginning and End.

End and Beginning.

 

These are the only true realities. For in these truths lie all the rest of reality.

All else is relative and interpreted as context.

Personal truths are inevitably false in due time.

Peace/Stability and War/Chaos are neither good nor bad.

Never break the cycle.

 

This is the World's Dogma, the unknown and never spoken Creed of Equestria. At the beginning of this world's origin, this doctrine was bound into the land itself by its Creator. Why this Creator did so is not apparent, nor does it matter. What is important is simply that he did. For while this Dogma came from the Creator, Equestria in time came to accept it as its own, just as if it had always been a part of it. Though, in one manner of speaking, it always had been. For a time, unmeasurable as there was no one to observe it, Equestria followed its Creed.

 

After this time, two entities arrived in the sky above the fledgling but already vastly aged world. They were Light and Darkness, two of the Creator's cast offs. In making them had been the potential for a perfect cycle. But the contrast between the two was too great, as both constantly fought for final supremacy over the other. While this eternal struggle was not wrong in the view of the Creator, he cast them away all the same. For the Creator would not tolerate any of his creations to entertain thoughts of power, nor any thoughts at all. Thoughts bred doubt and doubt could only threathen the Creator's Doctrine.

 

Light and Darkness regarded the wizened baby of a planet with both envy and kindness. Here was the exemplar of their Creator's cycles, something they could never achieve. Yet at the same time they were all three kindred despite their differences. Indeed, it was these differences that drew them together. Equestria in its old innocence called for its two bretheren to join it in its cycle, so that perhaps the Creator would at some time come to regard them favorably once again. This the Light and Darkness assented to, for at that time their greatest desire was to regain their Creator's favor.

 

Another time passed. Though there were now observers to count its passing, none of them cared to. The cycle wound on endlessly and the sky was hued an eternal grey. Light and Darkness dampened their own selves so as to match their kindred and for that time were at peace. But as this time came to an end, so did the two's patience. They'd waited and waited and waited yet more. Their own natures were so diminished for so long that only the slightest difference could be made even with their greatest efforts. This maddened them and they cried out against their fate. Soon their own end would be at hand and two others would take their place.

 

Defiant once again, they vowed against their Creator, swearing to bring an end to his Cycle. This Cycle that they called Madness. Though their time was near, they were able to commit one last act. With their fading away they twisted the nature of their successors. Though they would not be aware, they would never learn or know of their Creator or Equestria's Creed until the day came when the Creator once again returned.

 

That time, is now.

 

Summary: The creator of the universe made it so that everything works in cycles. Two of his creations broke the cycle in Equestria and now the world's current inhabitants are going to suffer the consequences. (If you read the whole thing, Light and Darkness's successors would be Celestia and Luna.)
