LUNA'S A GAMER?!

Every time I look up Luna on google images (I like looking at character designs and non-porn fan art ok?) I see lots of pictures of Luna playing video games. I don't get it. What's the purpose behind all that? Someone just said "Hey, what if Luna was all like 'LEEEERRROOOOOOOOYYY JEENKINNS'?" Not that I have a problem with it, i just don't understand. Somepony please explain this rather intriguing phenomenon.

I believe it all started on the Princess Molestia tmblr.  Gamer Luna was added to comment on gaming news on the tmblr.  The rest of the fandome took the ball and ran with it.  Also, she's adorable.
