Bronynet gone

Seems more and more now the original 2011 wave stuff is starting to disappear. Let's just hope we have enough new sites, fans, and original content to replace that which is being lost.

I find it's because a lot of bronies are losing interest in MLP altogether and are moving on to other things. The majority of my old brony friends (basically 9/10 XD) aren't bronies anymore.

I don't get it, myself, but they say it's just not interesting anymore.

Alot of the friends I had who got into this thing at it's start did it because it was the new thing. It was a fringe group, liking a show not meant for them in the slightest. Now that , that edge has gone, alot of people go with it. Being a brony isn't really this strange underground indie thing anymore. Combine that with the natural human tendency to grow past stuff, and most of the "original bronies" I knew are long gone.

Yeahhhhh... D: I also find that a lot of bronies analyze MLP wayyyy too much and that just kind of ruins the fun for others. Plus, it really was a trend/fad. Combine that with the younger bronies who probably are just growing out of it? And we lose a big part of the fandom. XD Kids (basically, people under the age of 18/19 in my country) are always going to have their tastes and stuff change much more than adults. I used to be hella into a lot of stuff when I was 14, and now I can't stand the idea of it! XD It happens.

Well for alot of people it was this new fad. They were gunna show the world how they don't conform to gender roles and watch this show for little girls! The world grew to not give a flying fuck, so they moved on. And then you have the kids who joined at 14 back then, and they just grew outa it. It was just a phase for them.

Basically, they just wanted a proverbial cookie. XD "Oh! Look at me! I'm super special and somehow better than you because I'm a boy and watch colourful ponies!" Those bronies were... just awful. D:

I'm somewhat new to the fandom, joining in July last year. I had brony friends but none of them were as mad as I was (due to my habbit of over obsessing) so I went and sort out new places to talk ponies. I liked Bronynet cause although it had a couple of flaws it was still super nice. You'd never meet anyone on there but you could get a feel for what everyone was like cause they'd post on your stuff. Here it's a lot anonymous cause everyone's hiding behind a username :(

Don't think of it as hiding. O: A username is a really good way to not only keep track of people but to also truly be yourself. You don't need to worry about being judged and you have the safety of being less likely "found" irl by bad people.

I prefer user names because it's kind of like wearing a fursuit (if you're a furry XD). You can just let loose and have fun and be goofy! You can dance around and make people happy and it's like... a security blanket. No need to feel self-conscious!

I didn't really mean it as hiding, just a little impersonal. I've met many people on here and have gotten close to them but only know there user name, but that's cause I PMed them. I meant more as there are so many people on here that it's not a very tight community.

I find it interesting, yet understand it. It was a cool site that helped me meet lots of people. I got lots of news there first before seeing it other places too. It obviously caught me by surprise. I was never good about finding secondary contact information for my friends there, so now I have to figure out how to find them again.

It would've been nice if Jacob sent out a message saying he was going to end it like a day in advance so we could at least get contact info. Rather than him just waking up and saying "I'm bored of this. Delete." I hear from people that he wasn't interested in it anymore and that some people were saying he wasn't even a brony anymore and I'm guessing that no one donating was just the last straw but it still would've been nice if we had some warning :(

Let's just hope this isn't going to be a trend for pony sites.

I always thought those were called, "Bandwagon jumpers".

Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

I never joined the site. I just watched the MLP episodes on the site's PonyPlayer. It's unfortunate that the creator left, but I guess he wanted to move on to other things. It seems that people who joined the fandom around 2011 are leaving while new people are coming in.

What are we talking about here? I don't recall ever hearing of "bronynet".

"You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. You taught me that Life's about change, about learning to accept who you are, good or bad. And I thank you for that."
