Jangocoolguy 433 July 22, 2014 Share July 22, 2014 (edited) Have gotten most of the collected editions (and plan to get all of them) and really like them. They add some depth and scope to Equestria and beyond, have stories just as interesting and fun as the Show, and even give some characters more depth & personality than the Show has (Celestia, Shining Armor, Sunset Shimmer, etc). There are even some parts I'd like to see happen in the Show (under different circumstances of course). And I kinda like the Looney Tunes/Animaniacs-style pop culture references. (An MST3K reference? In MLP?! I can die a very happy man! ) Edited July 22, 2014 by Jangobadass "It's like I found a piece of myself I didn't even know was missing!" How do you think WE feel?! yayayayayala 1,668 October 24, 2014 Share October 24, 2014 (edited) OHAI! TIME FOR MY FIRST OFFICIAL REVIEW OF...SOMETHING! YAY! I've read most of the Return of Queen Chrysalis arc today, and I really enjoyed it! I still have about two-thirds of the latter half to read though, so this review thing won't include the ending. Which is probably good, for spoiler reasons. So yeah! Detailed review below!! Because I want to talk a lot about them! :3 So I found them at Books A Million the other day, and what I failed to notice is that there are two issues in one book. IDWpublishing.com calls them "Digests". Currently, they only have the two I've bought, which makes it a little disappointing that I can't buy the rest right away...but not without its benefits - I'm going through a "not-enough-room-for-books crisis" in my room right now, hehe. X3 I also like that they're not 25 pages each, and they're also a bit less expensive: $6.99 vs $7.98 individually. Hopefully they'll do more soon! :3 Here's the stock images of what they look like. You've seen them before, I know. But they look a lot better and more vibrant in real life. (Also, the logo has glitter. :3 And on a side note, I'm psyched that the cover of the first is the Pinkie cover! ) ONE PROBLEM HOWEVER: The back of the first says, and I'm literally typing this from the back: "It's up to the ponies to find CobraFiles02 to printthe source of the weirdness before it's too late!" ???????? Yes, I briefly doubted my sanity when I saw that. But it's very real, and there. And that's a really crazy glitch. Luckily I won't be looking at the back very much, hehe! (Maybe someday I'll find a fixed one, lol.) Fortunately, the other one does not have this problem. (And YES, I HAVE A CRAPPY PICTURE OF THIS THING!! Proof that it exists! NVM I found a better one on the Internet. Also, apparently CobraFiles02 is something G.I. Joe related. IDW has the license to that too - apparently it got mixed up. X3) .....Weeeeird. Anyway, ON TO THE INSIDE! I loved almost every panel Chrysalis was in. The art style came off as whimsical, but epic when it needed to be, and almost every expression hit its mark - something I know from experience is pretty hard to nail. I won't say anything about the storyline for those of you who haven't read it yet, but the plotline was solid, the dialogue was spot-on, et cetera et cetera. All in all, I really enjoyed reading what I've read so far and am excited to read the ending. :3 So long story short, and back-cover derps aside, I loved the comics and can't wait to read them all! Review finished! yayayayayala out~~! Edited October 24, 2014 by yayayayayala
FredMSloniker 4 November 5, 2014 Share November 5, 2014 What's the best way to know when new IDW comics are out without calling my FLCS every couple of days? Is there a release schedule, or somewhere I can look that's spoiler-free?

Misty Shadow 7,825 November 6, 2014 Share November 6, 2014 (edited) I've read seven of the story arcs now. The Return of Queen Chrysalis and Nightmare Rarity arcs were gold, Zen and the Art of Gazebo Repair and Neigh Anything were good for what they tried to do, I had mixed feelings about the Pirates and Bookworm stories, and I loved Reflections almost as much as the first two arcs even with that rushed ending. The series is pretty cool to me overall, and I'm still following it. Edited November 7, 2014 by CloudMistDragon
Princess-Sunbutt 268 November 6, 2014 Share November 6, 2014 I really enjoyed the reflections arch when I read it, everything about it was just so.....right. Also with a more in depth look on Celestia and Star Swirl which I dont think can ever happen in the show that shot it up to my favorite comic arch. On the flip side however we have the Nightmare Rarity story......that was pretty bad. http://mlpforums.com/topic/112382-ask-sunbutt/ ASK THE PRINCESS OF THE SUN ANYTHING! RAINBOW DASH AND CELESTIA ARE BEST PONIES!

Zekromic 1,054 November 7, 2014 Share November 7, 2014 I've read five of the story arcs now. I read the Reflections arc online, couldn't wait until I could buy it. I'm still planning in acquiring it once the whole volume comes out. I liked how it played out, Celly, Starswirl, good Sombra, but yeah, the ending was kinda rushed and some things were kinda contradictory, but it was fine overall. I can understand the rage of many that wanted less shipping and more alt world exploration, but I think their hate is taken too far
Conred 274 November 7, 2014 Share November 7, 2014 I think Equestria Girls deserve more hate than Reflections. Flash was not ever near Sombra character. And at least it was plausible for Celestia to fall for him. Way more sense than for Discord, anyway.
