gaming Civ 5 General Discussion!

Recommended Posts

Since I couldn't find it elsewhere on here, I wanted to start this little topic.

Obviously, it is primarily for Civ 5 players, and is meant to discuss anything pertaining to Civ 5. Whether you want to discuss your favorite features about the game, or just the civilizations that you hate, this would be the place.

I can start by saying that I have tried playing Egypt in my latest game, which has done "wonders" for my play-style of wonder-spamming. :P

I've got that game, and I regret buying it.

Apart from the 'Fun' of slaughtering all stone-age opponents with Giant Death Robots and Nukes, there's nothing to do.

I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. Getting to play with friends (or just playing on a harder difficulty) usually solves that problem.

Sure, I'll play on a harder difficulty, and watch my opponents begin with an outlandish boost.

And it's still not even that hard, it's just... tedious. Dull. Actual chess is more interesting than this slow-paced chess-knockoff.

Shouldn't you be discussing the new Civ game that's coming out?

Fun game, I love it. :squee:

Though I don't often get very far, because laziness, it's still very fun to brutally crush my opponents in glorious battle for the glory of the Sontaran Empire! :yay:

... Of course I don't actually crush them, I just kind of wait until someone declares war on me, form a defensive line until the attackers have been eliminated, then counterattack, taking at least one or two cities. :P

I love this game!! According to Steam I've played it for over 600 hours.

As much as I love this game I'm starting to get a little bored of it. I can't wait for Beyond Earth! That game is going to be so awesome!!!

I've only ever played Civ II (by recommendation of a friend) but I've been meaning to get into a more recent game. I've heard that Civ IV is better than Civ V by veterans but there's others who say it honestly doesn't matter THAT much between the two and you'd still have a true Civ experience either way.

Thoughts?

Civ 5 was my first civ game, but principally, I would say they all are mostly the same, except for the obvious graphical differences. Civ 5 is great fun with friends, and is not impossible to play by any means, like some RTS games seem to be...BUT, the Civ 5 experience is quite dull if you exclude the Gods and Kings DLC and the Brave New World DLC. They add oodles of fun.

I only really play by myself so whichever gives the better single player experience is the one to go for.

I also need to find a place to get Civ II. I heard it's abandonware but I'm still wary of trying to download it. Don't know where is a legit place to do so. If it's possible to be legit in that case... :okiedokielokie:

I play all games single player. Games that are designed for multiplayer only (note: no single player at all, not games that are focusing on multiplayer) usually get passed up by me. I don't do multiplayer...ever.

That said if it's anything like Civ II it should be fine.

  • 2 weeks later...

Everything is fine, nice and dandy, perfectly easy to win on Civ V, until you manage to get a Cultural Victory (Only Gods and Kings DLC, not BNW). That thing is very hard to do. Bothersome and annoying, yes, but keeping other Civs out of your own bussiness while keeping your cities to a minimun? A challengue. (Level 5)

Despite I know I will be crushed on MP so easily, I would like to try it sometime, but the list is always empty...     maybe I might try again sometime soon...
