In the prequel book for Rainbow Rocks, she communicates entirely by text message. Even if the person she wants to talk to is right next to her.

 

So I have a feeling that the plan is to keep her mute.

That would be hilarious if they ended up actually doing that in Rainbow Rocks. I would definitely love it.
