movies/tv Rainbow Dash Reviews: Amazing Spider-man 2

Hey guys. Rainbow here. I asked Critical if I could do this one for him cause in this movie, there is a scene that has gotten the best of me. What it is, I will get to later, so expect a change in my tone. SO, lets get started on The Amazing Spider-man 2. First off, you humans have weird ideas in super heroes. An egg-head gets bit by a bug, suddenly changes into a bug... guy... thing himself. I will give Mr. Lee credit in creativity though. No one is Equestria would have thought of that.

Anyway, Spider-man is face with a new villain by the name of Max Dillan also called Electro. I gotta say, he was a cool villain. Kind of hardcore, but my eyes were glued to him whenever he was on screen. However he was a little creepy. Obsessing over a fan to the point of having conversations with the spider's picture. And as the scene went on, he got kinda creepy. But, I know what its like having fans obsess over you, that's something Spidey and I have in common. How he transformed into a villain is something even I question. How do you turn into a lightning bolt by falling into a vat of electric eels while being electrocuted by a power cable. Regardless, he was a wicked cool villain. Way worse than anything me and my friends have gone up against. But all the guy ever wanted was for someone to pay attention to him. And I felt sympathy for him at times. You know, when he's not scary.

The second villain, Critical and I agree got way too little screen time. The Green Goblin as Critical calls him, is REALLY creepy. When he transforms into his villain state you see his whole body squirm and change and his only way out is to hook himself to this suit and when you see him he looks scary. I will admit that if I met this guy, I wont be able to handle him alone. As I said before, the guy was there for too little and his impact on the film was major. Again, I'll get to it later. Critical tells me that he will appear in the third movie with a total of six villains this time and I will lok forward to see the Goblin again.

Now what I don't like. While the parts with the web-head are cool and generally amazing to watch, the talking with Gwen is really forgettable. Don't get me wrong, I think Gwen is a pretty cool character. She's smart and I can see she has a real connection with Peter. Its just that their talking is just boring. I just waited for the parts where something would happen. Yes, Critical tells me that a film cant be all action and that a film needs some soft moments. But did they have to be marsh mellow soft? Oh well. It wasn't all bad. I can see that the two care for each other and Gwen wants to be with Peter regardless of the danger. Yes, I did get that From Critical's notes, he wont stop bugging me unless I get some of them in there.

What Critical didn't like was different from me. Critical says it felt crowded with too many villains and that the writing was below average. Holding the film back. He says that even for him, some of the moments were a bit sappy. For the writing, I kind of agree. Again, the lovey-dovey gunk. Not my thing. The villain thing, I don't understand. Critical says that "The addition of the Green Goblin was welcome as was Electro. Where my problem lies is that they didn't have to be in the same film." I don't agree, I like these two characters. Though, the third guy was not needed. Critical tells me his only purpose was to build up for the third film. Plus, he says that they didn't put some character named Black Cat in. I don't know who she is, but Critical tell me she is a big part of the Spider-man universe.

Now, its time for that scene. I'm warning you all now, prepare for spoilers. Critical is very critical, get it, about spoilers. So, proceed at your own risk or skip this paragraph. After the fight with Green Goblin is over, Gwen Stacy falls from down a clock tower. His web line is cut and she falls to the earth. I kept chanting for Spidey to save her, but the way Critical sat in his seat was off to me. I knew Spidey would save Gwen. But, I was wrong. When we saw it, I could feel my heart sink. Gwen Stacy died. He kept telling me she would die but I ignored him. I said that "They wouldn't do that. She's a major character." But when the scene happened, I felt awful. The way she died... I could feel the impact of it. The way it was shot and the angle was just... brutal. I don't want to tell you guys too much, sorry. When I looked to Critical, his expression changed as well. He knew it was coming and yet he looked surprised. Gwen's death was a really sad scene and I admit that I cried when it happened. I shed a tear for Peter and his loss of Gwen. It was a traumatizing thing to watch. For me and Critical.

With a few cringe worthy scenes like the sappy "I love you" peter made with web or worse, when a little kid dressed in a spider-man costume and stood up against this armored dude, seriously what the hay was that? The Amazing Spider-man 2 is not a great movie, in fact Critical says its below average, but its not a terrible movie. The sound track was awesome, Critical says the actors were great, and the villains were the best part of the film. With weak writing holding it back, but coming back with some pretty awesome effects and "That" scene, it was a cool movie. Critical says "It wasn't  a terrible movie, but it wasn't Amazing." And I agree with that. Critical also says I have to do this as well. I, Rainbow Dash, on behalf of Mr. Critical, award The Amazing Spider-man 2 with a D+. It had issues, but it was a fun experience and thats all I ask. I'm going to go lie down and get "That" scene out of my head and try to figure out how Critical plans on getting Fluttershy to watch this "Godzilla" with him.
