and I felt that after I beat Dark Souls 2, it was time to reinstall Dark Souls 1 and really connect the lore between the two.

Whilest doing so, I am analyzing two big mysterys that maybe other might have insight on...or perhaps I am posing a new quandry that others have not considered. SPOILERS ABOUND!

Nashandra, the Queen and wife of Vendrick is a shard of darkness. This means that she is a piece of Manus after his defeat to the Chosen Undead from DS1. The being said, this leads me to connect that what Vendrick brought back to Drangleic was not the first flame but I think was the Dark Soul. This might be why Nashandra wants the "prize" so badly and why Vendrick did everything he could to prevent her from gaining it, so she would not gain more power and size.

This also led me to believe even more that manus is the Furitive Pygmy...he is refered to as the Primevel man, Primevel meaning the first, and hte Dark Soul and the Abyss consumed him and corrupted him into Manus. Also, this means that the Dark Souls may have been made whole again and this is why there is no humanity in DS2, emphasising more that the Dark Soul was brought back from the Land of Giants by Vendrick and not the first flame or other things that people may speculate.

Your thoughts? By all means, if I'm off the mark, offer your insight and lets discuss!

A theory me and my friends (me and a buddy doing this same thing threw new game ++) we think that the planet goes threw rebirth and each game is an adaptation of the same world with things done differently. So there will obviously be connectors buttressed as well. Its a theory we are still doing our lore run.

Oh I agree. The whole theme is a emphasis on rebirth and the cycle. But i dont think the world completely rebirths as you see ripples from past decisions effect DS2. The Great Souls remain and take new forms as they are integral to the planet, but the shattering of Manus is a big part as the Father of the Abyss. This is evident as had Manus not been defeated, Nashandra would never have existed. You see this with her soul description I believe.

"The old one of the Abyss was reborn in death, split into miniscule fragments, and spread across the land...

-The pieces began to coalesce again, becoming human in shape"

-The smallest of the pieces, sensing its own fragility, yearned for what it lacked."

-The tiniest of these pieces, precisely due to its size, was the first to restore its form."

From the Green Hereld- "

Nashandra will come after you. Knowing that you will take the throne, and link the fire. She covets the First Flame and the Great Soul. Put Nashandra to rest

."

This leads me to believe that she is after Linking the flame herself and aquiring the Dark Soul which Venderick brought back. I say the Dark soul as what Shanolotte states THE Great Soul and not A Great Soul. If it was any great soul, she could have claimed any from the

Lost Sinner, The Rotten, or Old Iron King

.

Hmm good points I'll have to bring that up when we are debating lore.

Also on the seeing remnants from dark souls 1 and even demon souls. Like the fact that the iron keep if you look at it looks like the top half of anor lando just sinking into magma.
