SasQ 1,356 May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 (edited) Yeah. I wonder if Trixie was somewhere around there too. She must have been pissed off as hell, being not so much Great and Powerful for a while. But you've brought up an interesting point I forgot to mention earlier: the cutie marks. Why were they disappearing along with Magic? What does a pony's destiny have to do with its Magic? (Unless your destiny is Magic, as with Twilight Sparkle.) Does it mean that a Unicorn without his Magic has no life before him? No future? Is he just wasted? Any ideas? Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 Well yeah he's an excellent villain. He looks threatening and he even tricked and betrayed Discord. Also, he pretty much sucked the destinies out of ponies, removing their purpose in life.
DryGuy84 (Inactive) 927 May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 I'd say Discord is my favorite villain, but Tirek is a very, very close second. "Oh look, there's our friend Rarity GOING DOWN IN FLAMES!!! ISN"T FRIENDSHIP MAGIC!!!?" -Tabitha St. Germain as Rarity "No matter how many times others tell you you're great, all the praise in the world means nothing if you don't feel it inside.......Sometimes to feel good about yourself, you gotta let go of the past. That way, when the time comes to let your greatness fly, you'll be able to light up the whole sky." -Cathy Weseluck as Spike
LordDiscord 289 May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 The fact that Tirek was able to stand up to Discord, definitely makes him a terrifying villain.

I think the Cutie Marks appear through the presence of magic, because of the glow that accompanies their appearance. So with that in mind, the absence of magic would probably result in one's disappearance. That's how I interpreted it anyway. "Oh look, there's our friend Rarity GOING DOWN IN FLAMES!!! SasQ 1,356 May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 (edited) This would mean that Magic is needed not only for the cutie mark to appear, but also to maintain it later on. Which would be a bit strange, because it seems to me like my tattoo disappearing because someone has killed the person who made that tattoo on my skin (P.S.: Wow, seems as I'm one post apart from mastering the Language of the Birds I wouldn't expect this happening so fast... Too bad, I've got comfortable with the bunny...) Edited May 12, 2014 by SasQ My best posts list Recent post: Language Exchange
Umbral Noir 1,556 May 12, 2014 Share May 12, 2014 He was pretty darn awesome in my opinion! Even in his weakened state he was quite an intimidating guy! That strange wailing sounds he made as the magic was sucked out of ponies was creepy enough in itself! And then the fight with Twilight was pure epic! I reckon he's one of the best villains on the show (second only to Discord of course )!
pony.colin 156 May 13, 2014 Share May 13, 2014 Expanding on your tangent just a bit: I initially thought Discord was playing some sort of gambit to either trick Tirek or come out on top regardless of who was ultimately victorious. That Tirek betrayed him wasn't too surprising, but that he curb stomped Discord without using the Elements or something like that was a breath of fresh air. ^ This As the self-imposed master and overlord of villains and evil, I can say that Tirek is a perfect version of the "PowerMad" villain. He isn't blinded by his strength but he also isn't satisfied with what he has. He wants total and complete control of everything and will destroy or sacrifice all those who dare cross his path. He manipulates, he imprisons, he fights, and he breaks the will of his enemies and he is able to hold his own. Unlike the others who have their own greedy intentions that are very narrow minded (Discord - whom I love - wants chaos but only to play with. Chrylasis only wants love to grow in power but on a small scale. Sombra...meh). Tirek wants world domination and will achieve that not through speeches or elaborate plans, or even through trickery. He plans on it through brute force. He is a PowerEvil character and a perfect protrayal of that type of villain. I just wish he didn't lose so easily with the rainbow power. He should have won until season 5 and deserved another 2 episode finale. ^ Also this. I loved Tirek, this was a wonderful villain and I say the best we've had so far. It would have been nice to have seen this go on for a bit longer (even into S5). But alas, villains in G4 can only last, at best, two episodes long. Can somepony please break Tirek out of prison so that he can have another go at it Would love to see him have a comeback. It's a shame we haven't had many good villains (or any previously really). Discovery Dream 592 May 13, 2014 Share May 13, 2014 I liked him. He wasn't the deepest character, of course, but his name, motivation, personality, and powers all remind me of a good old-fashioned orc or goblin; truly scary and fun to watch. He's villainous, he's merciless, and he made for a freaking AWESOME opponent for Twilight to butt heads with. I like a good badass heroic battle. no rest for the wizardly. Darker 1,351 August 23, 2014 Share August 23, 2014 In G1 he was the best. In G4 he was the best. In G4 Tirek became a little bit predictible, but he was still the most powerful and evil from G4 so far.
