movies/tv Question about the TARDIS

I was just watching season 7 episode 9 when he traveled not in space but just time, and the though popped into my head about what would happen if the doctor set the time of arrival to exactly when he departed. Would the TARDIS appear inside itself? Would it explode, or possibly create a black hole or something? What do you guys think :3

Well correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure The Doctor can't cross his own timeline. I mean he CAN but he knows that it's a really bad idea. I remember asking my dad (a bigger Doctor Who fan than I am) about this once and he told me he can't travel in his own timeline.

 

So in the Scenario you just mentioned, he would probably appear in the exact same place, the exact same time, just there would be no TARDIS there

The Doctor can't cross his own timeline as it would be damaging to the continuum. In "The Name of the Doctor" the TARDIS tried to stop him and Clara going to post-Time of the Doctor Trenzalore as he was crossing his own timeline in the "biggest way possible" (at this time, it was thought by everyone the Doctor died on Trenzalore).

He can't, but he's broken that rule (twice now I believe) and at least the last time the TARDIS pitched a huge fit.
