Riley looked at the map of the town. This seemed to be the right place. He looked at his coupon. It read, "Free Cupcakes For One Ticket Holder!" He glanced at the building. Kooky place, he thought to himself, but free cupcakes are free cupcakes.

Earlier that morning...

 

Riley shuffled through his mail. "Bills... bills... free cupcake coupon... bi - wait, what?" He snatched up the coupon, and read it. "Today's my lucky day!" he exclaimed, and flew off, following the directions printed on the coupon.

I wonder if anyone else got any besides me, he thought.

Ariel had also received a cupcake coupon in the mail. Nornally, she might have disregarded such a thing, but... cupcakes. Though she would have been ashamed to admit it, she loved sweets. Perhaps because the sugar made her feel good. And on top of that, well, who doesn't love free food?

 

So she went out to find the address listed on the coupon, holding said coupon in her magical grasp as she walked. It didn't take long for her to find the place, although she hesitated at first about going in.

 

She had a strange feeling about the place... But, telling herself that that was nothing more than her own paranoia - she did tend to be a little paranoid at times - she disregarded the feeling and went in.

Riley was waiting for the owner of the place to show up (there was a sign reading 'back shortly'), when he turned and noticed a green mare with a red mane and a book cutie mark. Strangely enough, there was a solid black 'X' over the symbol.

 

"Oh, hey there, did you get a coupon for free cupcakes too?" he asked nonchalantly.

Gloom made his way into the town after a long walk. He takes takes out the coupon he got from a carrier when he was traveling on the road. The only times he got mail was when it was a job offer. But never coupons. He was going to toss it but then he thought about it, It's not often n you get a  coupon for something free. And Gloom has a sweet tooth to boot. So he made his way to the shop.

Riley's attention was yet again diverted when he saw yet another pony. This one was a rosewood stallion with a jet black mane, and oddly enough, no cutie mark. He had some striking features, such as gold eyes and a scar on his left cheek.

 

"I guess this store was desperate to get noticed," he commented.

Ariel first spotted the sign, her ears folding when she realized that the owner of this place currently wasn't in. She didn't want to have to wait too terribly long; she hadn't eaten in a while, and she had gotten her hopes up for free cupcakes - a delightful, sweet treat, free!

 

She would have waited quietly, but then she heard someone speaking to her. Her ears folded back slightly as she turned to look at the pony, her immediate reaction being that of timidity. But then those ears of hers perked up once more when she heard his question.

 

"Yeah... I have it right here." She held up the coupon currently drifting in her grasp of magenta magic, showing it to him. She couldn't help but notice the word 'too' in his query - so he had also gotten one of these coupons? Was it coincidence, or was someone purposely sending them out to ponies? Perhaps it was the latter; some pony trying to make their business more well-known.

When Gloom reached the shop he could see two other ponies waiting outside.  He looked at them with dull even eyes, looking them over. The stallion looked like the most likely to annoy him. And the mare had a nervous look about her and he could tell she's been though some stuff. He picked up how to read others pretty well over the years. But he was bored, so he walked over anyway. "You two here for a free cupcake too?" He thought he sounded kinda lame from saying that.

Riley was slightly weirded out by the stallion's dull attitude, but still chose to interact. "Uh, yep! And I guess you are too, uh..." He trailed off when he realised he didn't know their names. "Okay, how about we introduce ourselves?" he suggested. "I'm Riley. And who are you two?"

 Gloomfury thought about telling these ponies his name. He didn't give out his name a lot. But he thought they were safe enough to tell. "Name's Gloomfury. Most just call me Gloom. On the count of my sunny disposition." He said his usual joke about his name with a blank face.

Riley just stood there for a few seconds, blinking at the pony when the former made that sarcastic joke. "Eheheheh... yes, very good," he replied unsurely. He then turned to the green and red mare who seemed a bit shy. "And who might you be?" he asked her kindly.

Rising look into his mail to see a coupon laying there. He pull it out and read it.

 

"Free cupcakes, huh? Why not?"

 

He put the coupon in his saddlebag, where pen and paper is in, for writing. He follow the route, that stand there. When he arrived, he see 3 other ponies there. Got they all a coupon too?

Riley looked over to see yet another pony approaching; a cyan stallion with a purple slicked-back mane and a book cutie mark. "You guys wanna make any bets on how many more ponies will arrive?" Riley asked Gloom and Ariel. "Who might you be?" he asked the pony.

Rising is not much the talker, more a bit shy, but it looks like, he have to wait for it, so he start to introduce himself.

 

"Well, my name is Rising Shine. I live not far from here and gout that coupon from my mail for free cupcakes."

 

Rising pulls out the coupon from his saddlebag to show them.

 

"I guess, you all got one too? Or is that a meeting I interrupting?"

"Nope, you're not alone, because we three got coupons too!" said Riley, holding his coupon up. "Oh, I'm Riley. Glad to meet you, Rising Shine," he added. He then noticed Rising's cutie mark. "You know," he said, "That cutie mark looks exactly like that of a friend of mine."

"Hello Riley. Really? What is he or she doing?"

 

He ask Riley. He can't really remember to meet a pony with the exact cutie mark as his.

 

"Who are you two? Friends from him? If you didn't heard, my name is Rising Shine, nice to meet you two."

 

Both are not looking like ponies who often talk.

A normal day in Ponyville... Nothing could possibly throw his day of track. Atlas walked down the street with a spring in his step. He had just finished a big job and was ready to take a break from hunting artifacts down. A smile on his face he made his way to his dormant house. He hadn't been there in a month and who knows how much mail he had.

"Let's see here..." He opened the surprising not overflowing with letters.

"Nothing but bills and a couple death threats from the Griffon Kingdom. Nothing special" He was about to shut the box when a slit of paper caught his eye. "A coupon? A free cupcake? Free is free" He shrugged and began to make his way there.

 

Later...

 

"A bit erie" He looked up at the building that was from the coupon. His gut told him something was up. He quickly pushed the feeling aside. What could be so bad about this? Nothing, right? ... Right? He walked in to find a few other ponies already there.

Riley looked over to see yet another pony approaching. (Gosh, what gave it away?) A white stallion with an orange and purple mane and a cutie mark of a map. "Wow. I'm all fr meeting new ponies, but this is escalating quickly even for me," he commented with a chuckle.

Rising look back to see another pony appearing.

 

"Yep, we all did. Looks like, this is a common thing, to get free cupcakes coupons. Hello Atlas, my name is Rising Shine. But everypony can call me Rising. Looks like, we still have to wait. I hope, the cupcakes are worth it."

"Hey, we're in Ponyville here where everypony knows each other and you can throw a stone farther than town. I'm hardly here anyway. Don't think I'm going to give you my life story or anything. And good to meet you Rising. I just found this coupon in the mail so yeah"

Gemini pushed a loose strand of hair aside as she trotted through the wide dirt streets of ponyville. She'd received a coupon for free cupcakes yesterday in the mail. Gemini had no idea why she'd gotten the coupon but she wasn't going to pass up a free offer like this! As she neared the bakery the coupon originated from, Gemini spotted a couple of other ponies. Slowing to an active walk, she caught up with them.

"Judging by the way you guys are lurking outside the store like a bunch of creeps, I'm guessing you're here for the cupcakes too?" Gemini smirked.

"Hey! Standing around is a normal part of anypony's everyday life! It's not creepy! You just keep that in mind, Mr. New Pony!" answered Riley. "Wait, new pony? Gosh, they keep on coming, don't they?" he added.

 

"So, when do you guys think the owner's gonna come outside? The coupon says to wait."

Ariel had been about to answer Riley when another pony showed up. And another. And another... It wasn't long before the young mare started shuffling her hooves uneasily, feeling anxious. She could handle speaking with one pony well enough; but groups of them never failed to make her nervous. Why did there have to be so many ponies here? They all had coupons for free cupcakes?

 

The others were conversing with one another, introducing themselves. Though her first instinct was to keep quiet, she also felt it would be rude to not introduce herself at all. "I-I'm Ariel..." she said. She was just barely audible, her voice inherently soft, and made more so by her own timidity.

Riley was eager to greet the new arrivals as they showed up one after the other, but he then noticed Ariel shuffling her hooves and looking down at the ground. "Uh, everyone, I think we should be careful. She seems nervous," said Riley. "Hey, I didn't get your name."

Rising see more and more coming, all for free cupcakes? He is waiting, when he hear somepony introduce with the name "Ariel". It was one of the ponies, who was already here, when he arrived.

 

I know that feel, Ariel. So many ponies around, I feel a bit nervous. But it looks like, nopony of them are mean or something."

It was at that moment that the door opened to reveal an elderly mare. "Why, hello there, dearies," she said in a sweet voice. "Here for the giveaway, I presume?" she asked them, eyeing the group.
