How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I reckon everypony became them in the same way, ain’t they? :)

Hello, everypony! I’m Lia-Ram (doggone, I need a right pony-related nick), from far cold Russia. My biography is quite extensive so I’ll try to keep it as short as possible.

 

I used to live in Moscow with my stepmother for long twenty years, and for half of my life I was crazy about lions. I even had a dream of gettin’ my pet lion here or livin’ in Africa among the wild lions. It had even more meaning to me since I was (and still am?) a feline therian. In last year I moved to the small town Kostroma, to live on my own and try to fulfil my dearest dream. But everything got wrong and I failed.

 

For whole year I didn’t know what to do. I drank like almost true Russian and smoke as hay for it seemed like all my life got ruined, till one event had happened. Celestia is my witness, I will celebrate this day as a day of my second birth! Yep, you got it right, I just watched MLP. :)

 

I saw not just a cartoon, I saw the whole world filled with everything I lack in my life. I started to google it and discovered so many amazing thangs, created by other bronies and whole community as well. And though I observe the community for months almost everyday I discover something new. It’s a lot of active and creative people all around the world who do something, never seen such nice communities before.

 

But Equestria is that world, not this. A couple days I spent in deep thoughts about “how to get there” and then I’ve found my new dearest dream: I want to work on developing the systems of virtual reality professionally, make it affordable to every (or, at least, most of them) brony and to be able to recreate virtual Equestria someday. Where you’uns could fly as pegasus’, casting the spells as unicorns, and live as “real” ponies.

 

But I won’t do it here, in Russia, where ain’t needed technologies, nor specialists. So I’m fixin’ to enter an American college (and then an university) in this year, to get a good education, meet another people, and move to USA. Maybe even get my cutie mark. :) That’s my very main objective and I’m preparing to it. I quit smoking, drinking, and gaming. Now all days long I read books ’bout English and math. And ponies, of course. :) For I am sorta unicorn, I’m creator by nature and I need some objectives to get.

 

Aw shucks. Beg pardon for some southern slang, I know not everypony likes it.

 

Although most of my life I spent in megapolis, I was born in a village; I absolutely love country music, wear my cowboy hat, drive old Chevy Tahoe with 5.7L engine. I live in a small shabby hut in a village that’s surrounded by Everfree forest (in Russian translation of MLP it’s “Evergreen forest”, but our forest is evergreen indeed). We have no ponies here, but I rub elbows with the real horses from time to time. Feel free to ask me your questions if ya want to. I don’t bite. And even don’t kick. :)

Before welcoming you.. the southern accent is perfectly fine, a VR where you could be a pony.. sounds quite amazing!, I hope all goes well when you come to America and get into college  :D

Hi Lia-Ram and welcome aboard.  :) We have a few Russian members already but there's always room for more.  Equestria sounds like a wonderful and whimsical place, but it too has plenty of hazards.  You have to be wary of monsters lurking out of the Everfree Forest, for instance.  :derp: 

 

There's plenty of ponies and Pepsi to go around so sit back and enjoy.  :D

Welcome to the forums Lia-Ram! It's nice to see a brony who had his/her world upside down turn to something better because of MLP. I wish you good luck in your studies and may you make "virtual Equestria" something bronies can enjoy! And you will have lots of fun here in MLP Forums because we have friendly and awesome bronies here in the community! (I'm not sure, but I think you can post your idea in Octavia's Hall -> Creative Resources, but I think that's the wrong subforum soooo I don't really know, sorry :P)

 

If you have any problems, troubles, conundrums, or any other sort of issues, major or minor, that we as a good community could help you solve, feel free to tell us!

Hi again! Thanks for your hearty welcome, I appreciate that. :) Sorry for such late answer, but Internet in our village is bad as heck. I spent almost 2 hours just to post this reply. :(

Oh, yeah! Last year was a period of sheer shocks. I understood a lot of things and became an another pony. More happy, kind, and optimistic. :) As far as I can tell, Russian brony community is not as friendly as foreign ones, just because of Russian culture, that has its influence on every other communities. It’s hard to befriend such folks and I have only 2 or 3 guys who I can call my friends. But all of ’em are busy as bees so we can rare get up with each other. :( I feel kinda lonely most of the time, but strongly believe that here I will find more friends. :) Edited by Lia-Ram

After all, I finally made my own OC: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/alia-r6634 :D

I hadn’t any difficulties with creating this image (for she represents me as far as I represent her), but with the name... I sifted through a lot of sites with names. I tried to find a beautiful name with subtle meaning, looking through the lists of German, African, aristocratic, horsy, and other names. And finally I found the Arabic name Alia, which means “from heaven.” I remember this name by “Children of Dune” series, where Alia was quite negative character. But I really-really-really love this name anyway.

And since I associate myself with my “character” for real, this event is not just creating another OC. For me, it’s about creating a part of my own image, that will be known even beyond the brony community.


P.S. I won’t change my userpic yet, for I need something more beautiful with my OC. I’m fixin’ to commission a nice userpic with her. Could you’uns recommend me a good artist?
