"You don't need to be so polite. I get enough of that from my clients in Canterlot" He put on his best Canterlot voice. "I sAYYyy! What a fine piece, Mister Lightfeather! You have done an excellent job, sir" His hoof was at his chest and his head tilted back. "They shower you with polite gestures then go right back to being pompous ingrates. So, what exactly do you do, this vacation wasn't the cheapest option"

"Sorry, If I offended you..." Atlas bit his lip. "A pilot? A rare profession in Equestria. No, I'm not a cartographer. I'm more of an explorer. I just go out into places others don't want to go grab X artifact then take it to whoever wanted it. I mostly work in the Everfree and most of my finds make their way to museums. Pays a lot but it has its drawbacks" He lifted his bad leg up a bit for emphases.

While Seth was finishing his cooking, Bliss headed back into the living area where the fire was still roaring. Daylight had already diminished, and the cold wind was echoing through the trees outside, sending a small shiver down her spine. She smiled at it though, because she saw the opprotunity to levitate a big thick quilt off from a nearby couch along with a pillow. She wrapped herself up in the quilt while laying down on the pillow, plopping her steaming heap of pancakes in front of her.

 

She stared at the fire as she took large bites out of each cake in turn. She savoured the sweet maple syrup with the mix of banana cake in her mouth...but the salty smoothness of the butter just sent her over the clouds in the closure of this lovely winter night. "Night Lights really couldn't have picked a better time...He must have remembered how much I love the winter and snow...being able to snuggle up in front of a fire place..." She sighed as she continued to eat, waiting for her friend Seth.

"Oh, I sOoo do understand, where it is your coming from there, my dear sir." Badaboom cut in a moment too early, also impersonating a resident of Canterlot, however her's was made far more obviously sarcastic. She looked up from her book with a risen snout and closed eyes, in attempt to look more sophisticated. Of course it just came off as snobby.

 

Boom allowed the two Pegasai in continuing there back and forth introductions. That was until Atlas mentioned his frequent ventures into Everfree. This is when she took opportunity to throw in another comment without much meaning, just a bit more back story for her new roommates. "Everfree Forest hmm? I've gotta home there. Nothing too courageous considering I live so close to Ponyville." She stated flatly before putting attention back onto her reading material.

Seth looked to his meat as it began to sizzle in anticipation to be eaten. With a wide smile, he tossed them onto his plate and looked to the two links in joy. Quickly extinguishing the oven flame, Seth walked to where the alicorn was and sat next to her. The wolf chose to stay with only the fire to warm him, as his fur was already doing a good job. He gave the mare a friendly smile at the good news regarding the incident.

 

"I'm glad you settled the case rather easily. If war were to break out between the two nations, I would assume Equestria would somehow get involved. With that, I would probably be recalled back to the Wolven Empire. They are a little protective over me after the little pirate incident." he said, nudging Bliss in the side lightly. With a slight yawn, he snacked on the sousages quick, enjoying the oils as he licked his lips. With a bigger yawn, he rested his head on the floor. "Hey Bliss, not to sound rude... but I am a bit tried out. I ran here with a sled dog team today and it wiped me out. I might just doze off here, if you want to stay, I would love the company until you want to head back to your room."

She nodded to him as he muched on his links and slowly lowered his head  down. The sight of the wolf laying down so comfy only proceeded to make her yawn in response. "Oh darn it..." she giggled a bit, "well at the rate your falling down...wait you came here by sled team?" She gawked at the thought Seth, a wolf, was leading a team of diamond dogs across the winter tundra, pulling a sled behind them. She actually fantasized the idea of her being in the sleigh when he was pulling it for a second.

 

Quickly shuuing the fantasy from her head, she replied, "Ahem...well at the rate you are going down hill for the night, I don't think I'll be that far behind you." She yawned again as she took another bite of pancake, slowly chewing this time. The warmth of the fire, the quilt, and her friend's fur snuggled up behind her, only seemed to encourage her to sleep. "It's just...I wanted to chat so much...but I can...*yawns* understand if you are tired...*yawns again* Gah excuse me... I guess that trip...even on dragon escort...can be a little tiring too."

"A house? In the Everfree forest? Of course not! I may go in there a lot but it's way to dangerous for that. You'd be surprised just how safe Ponyville is for being so close. I do own a house in Ponyville though normally I'm not there" Atlas plucked a random book from he selves. Myths and Legends 

He let out a yawn. "It's getting late. I'm going to bed without dinner" He left the study and made his way to his room. 

"If I don't respond when you knock I'm asleep!" She shouted before shutting the door. Let's see.

He opened the book to any random page.

"Vampires? Ha! They suck he blood out of their victims which in turn makes them vampires as well. Where do ponies come up with this? Vampires have sharp teeth, may or may not have red eyes, and a endless thirst for blood" He flipped to another random page and read. "The Rose King? Never heard of it..." He read for a while longer before falling asleep the book falling into his lap.

Badaboom blinked a little as Atlas explained the dangers of living in the Everfree Forest, and how he didn't have lodging there. "I figured he didn't. I assumed he lived in Canterlot, more customer base." She thought out loud putting her book down to watch the Pegasus leave the room.

 

Without returning focus to the pages before her, B-Box returned her sights to Sidewinder. She stayed surprisingly silent for a time, not even noticing that she'd been rudely staring at the only other in the room. Shaking her head in attempt to snap back into reality she felt a shutter surge through her body. "Uh, heheh, sorry 'bout that yo. Think I'm gunna go for a walk..." Boom informed leaving her seat. "Not really tired yet, ya know?"

 

Making her way slowly to the door across the room, BB stopped before opening the door. "Wonder if the stars are out...oh! Maybe an aurora! Hells yes!" She again stated her internal thoughts to the world. Or in this case Sidewinder. "You headin' to bed too?" Boom questioned over her shoulder pressing open the wooden door with her hoof.

A weak smile made its way onto Badaboom's face at the pegasai's offer to tag along. "Of course I don't mind!" She replied, perhaps a little too energetically. "I mean uh-if ya really want to. I'd certainly enjoy the company, haha." Boom laughed a little nervously. It was strange she usually didn't fall to embarrassment so easily, however, it still wasn't too noticeable outside her words.

 

Progressing out into the hallway in a slow trot, so that Sidewinder would easily catch up, Boom took note of the nearly sleeping wolf and alicorn nuzzled next to each other by the fire. "Oh so adorable..." She giggled sarcstically though quietly, as to not disturb them, passing the couple by to the front door of the cabin. Smiling back to Sidewinder once more.

"After you," Boom offered Sidewinder an open front door, before exiting the building herself close behind. Another shutter brushed over her the instant she stepped outside onto the deck. The door creaked a bit, maybe knocked a little out of place from her initial entrance. Either that or just a little rusty from lack of use.

 

Just as she had hoped, the atmosphere was void of clouds, bright stars littered the sky. The tops of the near by trees blocked most of the possible breathtaking sight. Lights of green with a slight shimmer of red wavered through the blanket of darkness, nearly matching Boom's eye color. "Ah man, I never get tired of seeing the NLs." She spoke looking up at the dancing lights.

 

A chilly breeze blew from down the open pathway that branched off in two directions from the cabin. From the moment the pair of ponies stepped out into the moonlit air, Badaboom became more and more anxious, with each second. "So...Sidewinder, you happen to see any spots on your way in that'd have a better view?" She asked looking down the separate walk ways.

 

Fluffing her lime mane with her hooves in attempt to be cute. "Not that you can get much better than this, huh?" BB added, if not just to add to the nervous look Sidewinder a bit to obviously displayed in the cabin.

Badaboom huffed a little when she realized that her flaunt went unnoticed, but as it was just an attempt to make Sidewinder a little more awkwardly nervous, she didn't pay it much more attention. Expressing a small frown of disappointment upon hearing the need for equipment to get up over the trees. "Maybe some other time, being we've got all in the world..."

 

Boom's smile quickly returned when she seen Sidewinder take the lead down the left path, and obeyed his gesture to follow. "I like the night too, more than most. It's mysterious and allows ones actions to remain unseen.." She almost whispered the second part. Feeling another shutter of uncontrollable urges course through her.

 

Once the pair reached the top of the creaky weathered steps, Boom pulled up close to her Pegasai companion. Sharing the miraculous view for a few moments, until Sidewinder stated his gratitude. BB then took the stargazing session an entirely different direction. Flicking on her headphones to bump a eerie tone, the beats traveled through the night air, but in no way could make it back to the ears of those in the cabin, even the sensitive hearing of Seth.

 

"I too am really glad ya decided to come with,

Deez beautiful sights aren't all ya'd miss,

I apologize for cuttin' this night so short,

But I'll do my best to lessen the hurt,

One mear portion of a night with me,

And you'll remember it for all eternity,

Best believe it, that you'll always remember..."

 

Without warning B-Box halted her freestyle, and pounced over Sidewinder's shoulder, applying pressure on his bad wing to gain the leverage to press him to the snowy ground. Looking down on him with eyes of crimson she displayed a toothy grin. Her back hooves mounted on the Pegasus's hips to prevent squirming. One of BB's front hooves was held over his snout so he couldn't cry out while also leaving his neck exposed. "So rhetorical question..." A pair of sharp fangs grew from between her lips. "Are ya ready to be a vampire?" She added as if to continue her rap, before sinking her fangs into the pony's throat.

((LE GASP))

Atlas jolted awake. He was in a cold sweet and his was breathing fast. He was having those dreams again. The blood. The pike. The image resurfaced in his mind. Why now? Why here? He got out of bed and out his door. He needed to eat something. A drink of water maybe. He crept into the main hall. It was really late and most of the others were probably asleep. He silently made his way to the kitchen. 

"It wasn't your fault. Just... Just don't think about it" He poured himself a glass of water. He made his out the front door and looked up into the night sky. It was beautiful tonight. He sipped the cold mountain water. The thoughts of his past slipped out of his mind and he calmed down. He finished off the glass still gazing into the sky and walked back inside. He was still shaken but a bit better. He deposited the glass into the sink leaving it to be cleaned int he morning. He still couldn't sleep nor was he tired. He found the study and turned on a single lamp which spewed light out the study door and study windows. He pulled a random book front he selves sat in a chair and began to read. He would go to bed sooner or later.

Seeing Bliss also falling asleep, Seth gave a tired smile to his friend as he too was beginning his evening slumber. Resting his head next to Bliss's, he gave a soft yawn.

 

"Good night... Lightning Bliss..." The greywolf softly said before dozing off into a deep sleep.

 

--Dreamstate---

 

The wolf found himself walking on a white plain of snow. It reminded himself of his northern home at the empire. However, there was one difference: his seance of paranoia. Something was off... something...

 

As he continued to walk, he glanced around him, trying to find what was causing his misguided fear. There was only snow and trees to be seen.

 

"Have I been neglected for so long you have forgotten me?" A demented voice boomed around Seth. "I have returned!"

In a slumbering comfort of warmth and company, her eyes closed just as Seth fell asleep behind her. Rather then lower her head down like normally, she kept it up and tucked back like a swan would when it needed rest. Normally she didn't sleep this way unless of course her mind was filled with thoughts, concerns or ideas...and sadly the idea of playing out in the snow or enjoying the open cool night air did entice her a good amount. But sleep made the biggest call to her...and she wasn't about to argue with it. "Good...night Seth..." she yawned a final time as her large ears fell against her back, covering up her exposed wings that stuck out of the quilt.

 

-- Dreaming --

 

Several magic books floated around her at what appeared to be nothing but a black abyss, where a small white circle of light was her only ground for her to stand or sit on...Then in reaction to her need for reality, the darkness faded to a familiar tree like living room, Twilight's Magic Study room. She smiled and levitated all the books down in front of her, happy to see she was finally getting her magic training under way on her own terms.

 

She selected the closest book to her, "I hope I will finally get the hang on transformation spells," she exclaimed as the book got closer, "Twilight was always good with those kind of spells. I've only been able to do one and that was with the help of Zecora..." The room around her seemed to flicker to her doubts, like they were a ripple in the water, but quickly regained stability as she picked up the book.

 

"NO!" She tossed the book away after a split second of reading it. She sprung to her hooves, backing away into another bookcase. The room began to fill with an evil laughter that sounded very much like her own...It swirled and slowly began to gain in strength, making her roll up in a ball of terror. "It...it can't be...No..."

 

"Yes it can sister!" The laughter suddenly gave way to a voice, "Oh I'm touched! You've not forgotten me! Good...because I didn't forget you..." The room of Twilight's study then evaporated into thin air, living Bliss grovling in a singlar white space as she cried out at the nightmare that was coming back to haunt her...

 

-- Back to the real world --

 

She never would have heard the scuffle outside, far away as it was, her unusual big ears would have picked up on it...instead she was paralyzed with her own demons within her nightmare... "No...Blight...not again..." she cried out in her sleep.

"What was that?" Atlas got off the seat and walked into the main room. Seth and Lightning Bliss were sleeping next to each other in front of the fire. 

"She must be having a nightmare. I know that feeling" He walked back into the study and picked back up the book. It was a Daring Do book. A bit childish but he didn't care. He just went back to reading oblivious to what had happened outside.

Feeling a searing heat of a lighter. Sidewinder used it as a weapon, an interesting last resort, Boom held through the light pain in her side until it subsided with a metallic chime on the shifty, rocky surface. It wasn't long after that, she felt the Pegasus give up all effort. A few moments following, Boom pulled away licking her fangs clean.

 

Boom's eyes now burned, vividly glowing in the night. Feeling off to her side where the lighter made contact, she lifted her brown record hoodie up to visualize where it had singed through. Lucky, for her there was only a small burn wound, as her baggy shirt took most the damage. "Ya know, I really hope there will be no hard feelings 'bout dis."

 

Badaboom spoke, now to herself, standing up right. Staring menacingly up to the wavering lights in the sky above. "It's my vacation...perfect place tah get another year or twos life force. If the downside is my new friends get ta live forever. Then I'm sorry for that, but ponies gotta eat." Her dark semi-echoing voice came nearly sarcastic, but held a trace of sincerity.

 

"I'm truly thankful for this night...Sidewinder, just wished it could've gone better for you." B-Box continued to herself putting her headphones over her ears to nearly silance the bass line once again. Lifting her hood over her head she smiled viciously, resheathing her fangs. Still up right on her hind hooves she began to wave back and forth like a shadow in rhythm to the wubs that pulsed through her body. "Well see ya in the morning. Don't go snitchin' on me, heheh."

 

The vampiric pony almost gracefully slid from one wooden step to the next, until she made it to the base of the hill once more. Once the large cabin came back into view she dropped down onto all fore hooves. She crept stealthily to the outter wall moving until she made it to the window of her room. Lifting it open, conviently left unlocked BB floated through the frame and ever so slightly above the wooden floor.

 

Hovering over to the closet discarding her ruined hoodie in an empty bag she grabbed a dark green look alike and quickly replaced it. Grabbing a somewhat smaller pouch from a saddle bag, she through it over her shoulder, and landed near the her personal bathroom for the first time. From her bag Boom withdrew a toothbrush and a bottle of paste. Setting her bag on a shelf next to the sink. Preparing her oral higene she looked in the mirror, and there was no reflection. She let out a light sigh, and quickly shoved the fact away. Mouth wash and floss now also placed accordingly on the counter.

Atlas caught himself almost falling asleep in the chair. Time to actually get to bed. He turned off the last of the lights in the house and slowly flew to his room only making a quiet flapping from his wings. He opened his door and shut the door locking it out of habit. He dropped onto the bed and slid under the covers. Just before he closed his eyes he checked the time. It was really late o clock. He was going to be tired come morning.

The morning light beamed onto her eyes, forcing her to dart her head up with a start. Her mane was the definition of 'bed head syndrom'. Bliss yawned loudly and stood up, shaking out her rear legs and flapping her wings lightly as so not to wake her friend Seth. She proceeded to lie back down and just enjoy the warmth of the morning light...curling up under the quilt again..."Mmm...more sleep thank you..." she groaned. But to an annoying firm insistance, her body was telling her that her little bladder was 'full' and needed release immiedatly like it always needed to whenever she woke up

 

"Darn it..." she snorted and slowly got back up again, "always when I wake up I have to use the filly's room...Always!" She whispered annoyingly to herself then went to seek out a bathroom. She figured there was one in her bedroom, but as she took a step on the stairs, they gave out a loud SQUEAK making her freeze and dart her eyes on her friend Seth. Thankfully he didn't wake up but he did stir some...She sighed heavily realizing if she was going to need the filly's room...it's gonna have to be outside. She turned quietly and slowly clopped to the door and lighlty levitated it open. To her relief the door was well oiled, it didn't make a single creak.

 

The cold wind of the morning hit her hard as she pushed her way outside, shutting the door behind her. She shivered a bit but ignored it knowing she wasn't going to be out there long. Quickly she looked for the nearest bush away from the cabin, not wanting to get caught by anypony while she did her business. She fluttered towards the woods up a hill, distancing herself several yards away from the cabin till she was satsified she wouldn't be spotted, then found a proper iced down fern bush and went behind it quietly. While doing her deed, she thought back on that nightmare she had briskly last night... The maniachal laughter...her oppostie evil voice...It all came crashing back to her like on her last trip to a cabin..."Blight..." she mummbled to herself, "why would I dream about her?" She shrugged as she stood up from squatting, shaking her legs out.

 

She trotted out of the bush and kicked some snow on the obvious yellow spot so as it not to be spotted by the others, and stretched herself out once more, feeling the relief of an empty bladder once more. "It's probably just dark memories resurfacing," she reassured herself, "that was so long ago...And its just a coiencidence that I'm vacationing at a cabin with Seth. It's not like he's a vampire anymore, and nor am I. Princess Cadence along with me and Seth were able to rid ourselves of the vampirec disease...Just shake it off blissy!" She pet talked herself as she started her way back on hoof to the cabin.

 

Though to her surprise, she spotted another trail of hoof prints, leading up the hillside. "That's strange... I didn't hear or see anypony follow me out...Were these from last night?"; Her curiousity got the better of her and she followed the trail up, expecting maybe it to be Atlas or BB just catching some early morning sunlight to help wake them up. As she made it to a small opening on the hill, there was a bit of snow compacting near the center, thinking not much of it as she stepped on it. The snow didn't give way though, it was firm and had muscle forcing her to trip and fall over. "GAH," she spit out snow that got in her mouth since she fell down face first. "Dang what was that? It wasn't a sto-" her eyes went wide with terror...The thing that tripped her...was not a stone or a stomp...it was the body of Sidewinder...His neck punctured with obvious two little holes...With little control or self esteem within her...only panic...She took a deep breath and screamed out:

 

"SOME PONY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
