Violin + Electronic = Most Amazing Music I've Heard in a While.

I am quite frankly surprised by this. If you had told me a few years ago that someone could take violin and mix it with dubstep, house, and other genres and I'd love it, I'd laugh at you. If you had told me this a few months ago, I'd be skeptical, but willing to give it a try. But now, one of my friends started playing some while we were deep in a game of Call of Cthulhu: Arkham Horror, and now it's all I've been listening to since.

Lindsey Stirling just induces eargasms in me :)

She mixes awesome basslines with great classical-ish violin playing (and she's damn good at it), and it fits perfectly. All the great stuff I like about electronic, combined with some of my favorite parts of certain classical. All her music videos are very well done.

Anyway, some more:

She doesn't just do electronic, either. She does more traditional classical music, pop and hip-hop covers, stuff like that.

Also, many of you may be interested to know that she does soundtrack covers as well, and cosplays while playing in the videos. Her LotR medley is simply divine.

you're not the type who likes to see what's outside the box, huh?

I take offense to that, good sir. I used to be like that years ago, but these days, I'll give just about anything a try. Doesn't mean I'm not skeptical about some things, though.

that's not what i meant. i mean, a violin in a DUBSTEP track, a MASSIVE genre, doesn't surprise me at all. if you think THAT'S special, then you should go explore the musical world a little deeper.

When I first saw her music, I my first thought was "What in the world of all that is music..?"

Of course, the moment I heard Crystallize, the rest of my train of thought was "WHY DIDN'T I HEAR THIS EARLIER!?"

It takes serious skill to play the violin AND to mix ELECTRONIC it it.

Lindsay Sterling = Eargasm. Pure and simple.

Oh and since this may intrigue you Evilshy, have you heard of ThePianoGuys in Youtube?

It's more that I don't listen to much dubstep, since I don't listen to a lot of electronic, and I prefer D&B and trance. And usually when you see electronic of any kind with orchestral stuff such as violin, the orchestral stuff is in the background. Skilled violin playing with electronic in the background is pretty special, I think.

I've explored other aspects of the musical world pretty deeply :)

Yeah, Lindsey Stirling is one of the most amazing artists I've seen. She can play the violin, guitar (I believe), and she can dance... plus, she's pretty hot :P

(This might be a little late, but...)

Oh my, when I see music posts, I don't usually expect to recognize the artists! Electronic-Classical mixes are my favorite things ever. Here's an amazing suite by a brony, dedicated to Octavia and Vinyl Scratch. I think you'll like it:
