My state of New York is pretty low on this scale, lol. What are your reasons for that?

I don't like New York in a political sense, mostly. I don't like how it's basically the more conservative and less drought-ridden version of California, or at least how I see it. 

New Jersey is still worse though.

I don't like the fact that many drug addicts get away with what they do around here and the fact the government can't pave the roads and keep the streets clean. I disagree with many other things with this state, though.

At least my state (South Carolina) is somewhere in the upper half.

I'll take it.

Literally everyone where I've come from HATES California with a burning passion, though.

As a California boi, I definitely agree with said state being at le bottom.

There are VERY few things I like about the state.

Most of the family I have down there are thinking of moving out. They disagree with the politics and the cost of living. 

Real estate is so pricey that my grandma can sell her beat up old house and make enough to move up here and buy a new one outright.  

I'm not American, but I approve of the placement of Washington .
