Lesson 0: Why am I here?

It should be pretty damn obvious that I enjoy MLP. Since this is my first blog, I feel obligated to really explain what it is about these forums that I find particularly enjoyable. I'm fairly new here, and I have spent most of my time poking about the Fan Fiction board to leave various comments whenever I can. However, in that puny amount of time, I've noticed a two glorious things about this community: a glorious amount of creativity and a lack of douchebaggery.

Now, I've been around the web long enough to see my lifetime share of trolls, tools, jerks, dips, morons, idiots, ungrateful little shits (as my grandma would say), etc... MLP Forums has an absolutely impressive non-population of those individuals. I haven't met anyone... or anypony for that matter... who I would throw into any of those categories. Suffice it to say, I find you all quite refreshing. The Feldian rule of love and tolerate seems to be actually working here. *is amazed*

Speaking of Feld0 -- and the rest of the staff -- I've yet to meet an unfriendly mod or admin. For those who don't know, when you're a 27 year old physicist, you spend almost 18 hours a day online doing some sort of work. This exposes you to a great swath of really aggravating and power-hungry people. Again, the MLP Forum experience in this regard has been completely refreshing thus far.

My point is that the community here owns on multiple levels, so before I even attempt to inject the little piece of myself into this interweb abode, I wanted to throw it out there that I find what you have all been doing here to be great. You oftentimes make a shitty day not so shitty.

That being said, welcome to the Random Ramblings of Wing...

Now get the hell off my text file, you Celestia-damned hippies!

I agree with you. The main reason why I love this site is how good the people here are.

Yeah for the most part these is a very friendly forum, like any online place once in a while there may be a few arguments but they are far fewer then many other online places.

Wow, I didn't know the forum had a resident physicist.  I learn something new about this place every day.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoy it here.  I admit I lurked for about a month before I joined last year.  I liked what I saw.  The people looked friendly and the mods did things to maintain order but didn't appear heavy handed.  So I signed up and I had a blast ever since.  It's hard to believe I've been here for six months already.

First, we aren't Celestia damned. If anything, I think we're Celestia blessed to be honest. Second, how loving and tolerant the fandom can be is person opinion based upon written words which isn't the same as a face to face meeting.

:P I do a podcast style RROW, and my trademark sign-off is 'Get the hell off my audio file, you god damn hippies!' but that didn't seem all that appropriate. lol Celestia-blessed might be even more amusing though. ;)

As for the love and tolerance, what you said is true, but I can also do a comparison between online communities and see a difference in attitude.

I'm jealous of your Ph.D. in Physics. That's some seriously cool shit. I'm into physics myself, but I just know what I read on a few encyclopedic sites and have seen in a few documentaries :/

Well hey there Evilshy. :P I wouldn't be jealous of that. If you ever have any random physics questions, feel free to throw them at me. :) I'm sure I'll be blogging it up with random vids. :P

*shrugs* I guess it depends on why you're jealous. If you're going for a Ph.D. and you're just waiting to get it, then I guess that's one thing. lol Aside from that, I'm just a dude, and if a Ph.D. isn't in your goal list, then it's just a fancy abbreviation. lol
