  1. Dude, she's only been an alicorn for all of 5 minutes on screen, if you're going to claim to abandon faith in the show prematurely, then you might as well act the part and leave the fandom. Every single one of your complaints here basically amounts to the assumption that she's not going to be able to maintain her friendship in the way she did before, which is stupid because it completely contradicts the show's main message.
  2. There were a LOT of cartoons I watched as a kid, but there are a few that stand well apart from the rest in my memory. Pokemon, Digimon, Dexter's Laboratory, and Looney Tunes reruns were the ones I watched the most. I'd always squeal in excitement whenever they showed a Bugs Bunny cartoon, and Dexter's Laboratory was filled with memorable episodes. The "mon" series, meanwhile, practically defined my imaginative experiences as a child. For a while, every single time I played with my childhood friends was a game where we pretended we were either Digidestined or Pokemon Trainers.
  3. I actually think Transformers Prime is a good show. Not nearly as good as Beast Wars or Transformers animated, but it's still an entertaining show that stays close to the spirit of the Transformers franchise. Honestly, after Transformers Armada and the Michael Bay movies, it's refreshing to see good Transformers shows.
  4. I've always hated it when people write fan fiction for the sole purpose of changing something they don't like about the canon.
  5. Most of the "pro-twilicorns" you describe here are mainly just reacting to the very loud, very, very obnoxious whining of a vocal minority of the "anti-twilicorns." The same thing's been happening with the Transformers fandom for years now. Every time a change is made to the franchise, there are a few who will quickly shout "RUINED FOREVER!" simply because the status quo changes. I'm not saying that everyone who opposes this change is like this, and most of them probably aren't, but to the perception of the average forum-goer, many of the complaints about twilicorn sound like this.
  6. This episode I think is going to be about Twilight being brash and assuming that she's already learned enough to become an alicorn despite Celestia's insistence that she's not ready yet. Not wanting to be denied this opportunity, Twilight "swaps destinies" with Celestia to prove herself worthy, only to discover that she's nowhere near as prepared for it as she thought she was.
  7. Looking back on one of the Nostalgia Critic's review of "It", I couldn't help but think of this comparison to Discord's first episode.
  8. You seem to be forgetting that that friendship is the central theme of the show. The entire point of the episode is to show that even the most seemingly evil people can be eventually redeemed through friendship. Teaching children that some people should not be forgiven, no matter what is not only a horrible life lesson, but it completely contradicts the message of friendship that serves as the very basis of the series.
  9. This episode's events got me thinking: could Discord not ever having a friend be what led to him becoming the Spirit of Disharmony in the first place? Let's take a look back for a second. When Zecora was first introduced, all the ponies were afraid of her because she looked so different. Discord looks very different from anything else that's ever been seen in Equestria before. Could Discord have only become the Spirit of Disharmony because ponies were afraid of his appearance? Did he grow to resent the ponies' friendships because none of them were willing to be friends with him?
  10. It wasn't. My point was that Chrysalis was probably already absurdly powerful, she likely only needed a relatively small amount of power to become stronger than Celestia. Not to mention that Friendship is literally the most powerful form of magic in Equestria, so it stands to reason that Love would be also hold a hell of a lot of power.
  11. Keep in mind that Alicorns, while powerful and immortal, are by no means gods. The only Alicorn that could truly be considered Godlike was Nightmare Moon, and that's because she was literally being fueled by an unknown evil magic that amplified her negative emotions and magical power. Discord wasn't just a god, he was virtually omnipotent. Only because he refused to believe that the Mane 6 would reharmonize themselves did he ever lose. Chrysalis was likely only marginally less powerful than Celestia before she infiltrated Canterlot and consumed Shining Armor's love. As for Sombra, the Elements of Harmony more than likely would have defeated him in the same manner as the Crystal Heart, and it's entirely possible that Celestia and Luna could have defeated him on their own, but they wanted Twilight to use the Crystal Heart instead as part of her test.
  12. With Discord supposedly being redeemed tomorrow, I thought we could use a little tribute to the raw chaos before he turns. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PMG6XQj1nA
  13. Hey there, the name's Zennistrad. As you can guess, I'm a huge fan of Magic: the Gathering. Wizards of the Coast is owned by Hasbro, so even before MLP they ended up with most of my disposable income. So hello everyone, and a special shout-out to all the Magic players out here!
  14. Seriously, why does everyone think that this is a bad idea? I don't understand why anyone would call this a butchering of the show, it certainly fits in with the overall direction Twilight's character development has been going in. In the very first episode of Season 3, when Celestia was explaining to Twilight about the Crystal Empire, and how she would reach the "next level of her studies, we see this image: We know that it's going to happen, it's been forshadowed. And despite what you might think, it won't be the end of the series, because Season 4 has already been confirmed. Furthermore, the writers of the show KNOW VERY WELL WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND WON'T SCREW IT UP. Remember Princess Cadance and Shining Armor, and the backlash from their initial introduction? Twilight has a brother? There's another alicorn princess? Everyone practically screamed that FiM was RUINED FOREVER. And do you know what really happened? An awesome season finale, arguably the two most intense and exciting episodes in the series. People loved it. And odds are, people will love the season 3 finale as well. EDIT: Changed the thread title slightly.
