You're being hated on because you are breaking the social 'norm'. People think that it is not normal for people like you and me to watch MLP. People don't generally like things that are different or contradict what they accept as normal and in turn will push us away or try to make us stop. And some people just hate because they can.

People hate it when someone breaks the status quo. If men do anything that could be remotely considered 'girly', they are shunned for it.

Men are supposed to be big and strong to protect his loved ones. It's hardwired into our biology. Still, in modern society this is kind of trivial.
