I've lived all my life in a part of the nation where racism and homophobia are by no means uncommon; it's also a part of the nation that loves Jesus, guns, and historically votes Republican. I haven't had the opportunity to meet a lot of people who weren't some degree of anti-homosexual or anti-minority.
