About Me

Dawnchaser?

I'm a 40something husband, father and captain for a certain British airline.

I like having a laugh, things with engines and a variety of fantasy and scifi.

I wanted a username and avatar that reflected me and what I do.

So I have a greying pegasus as an avatar and the name reflects the occasions when I'm "chasing the dawn" either on an early am drive to work or flying through the night waiting for Celestia to raise the sun.

I'm not sure when I became aware of the current G4 MLP, I'd seen some gaming accessories at a store I frequent and thought it would be fun to get some card sleeves.

A 6'1" ex-rugby player playing with Pinkie Pie sleeves - I'm happy with my masculinity :)

In March 2015 I ended up in the childrens channels and MLP was just starting.

As the theme started My Little Pony, My Little Pony, Aaaaaahhhh I thought "good grief this is sickly".

Then the guitars and drums started and I thought "that's unexpected, lets see where this goes"

That episode was S1E04, liked it (Aj is a lot like my wife :smug: ) so I then hunted for S1E1 and started from there.

A little bit of binge watching later and I set about the comics.

It is a nice cartoon. It's bright and colourful, the songs are catchy, the life lessons are not to preachy and in general doesn't leave me vomiting blood as some of the really "nice" kids shows would.

I like the fact that the characters have flaws and not everything is perfect.

There are certainly worse cartoons/programs for youngsters (and adults) to watch :)

EDIT 16/04/2016 My wife "I actually quite like MLP" :yay:

After a bit of a hiatus, my wife has been coaxed into watching again, we're now into S3

(I had wondered why I didn't remember seeing the Big Lebowski reference)

I can usually be found Counting to a Million.
