"The Hearth's Warming Club" - Oh, nothing much, just season 8 once again showing how mature this show can be if it actually respects kids' intelligence. A lot of this is just cute and funny, and it reminds me more of the show's earlier years than of "The Breakfast Club," though maybe I don't remember that movie too well. Each of the stories is adorable, and the student six have a bunch of amusing reactions; I still don't care about them as much as the mane six, but more stuff like this could easily change that. And then it pulls the rug out from under us and finally touches on territory which the show has beforehand shied away from, and suddenly a mildly pleasant episode becomes so much more. If sloppy stuff like "A Matter of Principals" is what it takes to get these unexpected grace notes, then I'm totally okay with that.
