For a little context: This is a theoretical maximum for the mass of white dwarfs. Has a white dwarf a mass larger than this limit then it will turn into a neutron star. I even know the value of it: 1.44 times the mass of our sun - at least as long as it doesn't have any active nuclear fusion processes anymore which would counter act the gravitational forces and increase this maximum.
