One addition I'd like to see added to that energy beam she fires is it starts fires, Princess Celestia's power is solar after all, extreme heat is a given with powers like that. Perhaps she could find creative uses for that power other than offence, like generating fog by evaporating liquid water, concealing her whereabouts. A simple brute force laser attack would be fine in some situations but I'd expect Celestia to be a skilled combatant with her powers.

 ...And my OC is a fire pony. So if the beam starts any unintentional wild fires, he could easily absorb or redirect them. Though I doubt she would need any help. A princess like her probably has absolute precision and control over her powers. But if she ever wanted to cut loose, my OC could make sure none of that power goes to waste. Maybe his own magic flames could make her even more powerful.
