  1. I'll have to go back to the Feats of Friendship miniseries and figure out how to adapt the Thracians for the My Little Pony Roleplaying Game. For Tales of Equestria, I would suggest that players are given a choice upon Thracian character creation to choose between two different paths: the Path of the Body (start with Stout Heart at D6); or the Path of the Mind (start with Telekinesis at D6): THRACIANS Talents: Choose Stout Heart (D6) or Telekinesis (D6), choose one Cutie Mark talent (D6) Quirks: Choose one My question is: Do at least some Thracians have the inherent ability to cast magic like a Unicorn? We see Swift Foot use magic to communicate with her father, King Diomedes; but I can't tell if she's using a magical object, a spell, or even her Cutie Mark ability. If the first or the last then the Thracians might be normal Earth ponies that developed a society that simply doesn't value Friendship.
  2. Star Trek: "The City on the Edge of Forever" teleplay by Harlan Ellison.
  3. I've nearly finished going over the new material in the rivers and expanded edition of The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien. I've also been reading The Art of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim by Daniel Falconer. I've just ordered a copy of the novel LexCorp by Elliot S! Maggin (Superman: Last Son of Krypton; Miracle Monday). Maggin also wrote the prose novelization of the graphic novel Kingdom Come.
  4. The trade paperback collection of My Little Pony: Set Your Sail came out this week. Comic shops should have it right now.
  5. Equestria Daily has a 2-page preview for My Little Pony: Case of the Missing Puff. The one-shot comic should be available on March 19th.
  6. So, what do you think of the original, 1933 King Kong?
  7. The title that's being provided is My Adventures with Green Lantern. It's said to feature GL Jessica Cruz as a high-school student. I'm kinda hoping that the title gets changed.
  8. You don't mean all of these to be references to the Potterverse, right? Huey, Dewey and Louie are Donald Duck's nephews; if there's a connection to Harry Potter then I'm not aware of it. Same with the nuclear coffee pot and the unused Pinkie, Rarity and Rainbow designs. Nice Easter eggs, but not Harry Potter.
  9. I was 15 going on 16 so it hit differently for me. I liked Peter Jackson's approach better in that he kept his version a period piece. It was just a bit too long!
  10. Did you like the 1976 remake? I thought it was pretty bad (though its sequel is worse).
  11. Sadly, there were no reveals for any new My Little Pony games, though there was some discussion of the My Little Pony: Festival of Lanterns tile-based game that drops in April. And the New Game Reveals was followed by the interview with Chris Chung, designer of My Little Pony: Festival of Lanterns (still streaming live on YouTube as I write this). From today's Renegade Con, My Little Pony Lanterns Designer Interview with Chris Chung. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgOmoesLlQM
  12. So the immensely popular, wildly successful, Oscar-winning movie was "not that good". Well, it obviously wasn't your cup of tea. Thanks for sharing.
  13. Well, Equestria seems to be much smaller than North America. I think this is illustrated pretty well in this chart from Dark Horse's The Compendium of Equestria: I do think that the travel times above are a bit too short, but they give you a rough idea of relative distances. Rainbow, at speed, is going to be able to travel a lot faster! The Dragon Lands (a.k.a. Dragon's Lair or the Dragon Isles) are on the other side of the Celestial Sea, south of Griffonstone, just a bit farther from Ponyville as is the homeland of the Griffons. There is no train service to the Dragon Lands. Real-world compared to Equestria: - Steam locomotive from New York City to Seattle: 42 hours; 2851.5 miles. - Manehattan to Vanhoover (through Canterlot): 3 hours, 15 minutes (not counting stopover); estimated at 220 miles. North America is about 13 times larger than Equestria! At Mach 5, Rainbow Dash should be able to travel from Manehatten to Vanhoover in about one-quarter of an hour (though that seems too fast to me). That's roughly the same distance between Ponyville and Dragon's Lair. If you want to top out Rainbow's speed at Mach1, that is 767.269 miles per hour (the sound barrier). At that speed, she could fly to the Dragon Lands in a little under an hour, which seems a bit more realistic to me.
  14. The Lord of The Rings: The War of the Rohirrim (Steelbook Edition). Two caviats: 1) The 4K Steelbook release, despite the only addition that seems to have any special features, lacks any commentary tracks; 2) it also does not include either the Japanese-language dub or Japaniese subtitles (at least on the Blu-ray. Let me know if either is included on the 4K Ultra HD disc; we don't have a 4K player). ,
  15. We've got to go back a bit further for my childhood memories of Spider-man:
  16. Been there, done that. From Marvel's Godzilla, King of the Monsters #24 (1979):
  17. Renegade Con is two weeks away now, February 21, 2025, starting at 10 am PT; 1 pm ET. New Game Reveals: 11 am PT; 2 pm ET. Designer Interview with Chris Chung, discussing the upcoming My Little Pony: Lanterns tile-based game. 12 pm PT; 3 pm ET.
  18. My wife & I have read all the Harry Dresden books to date. Harry is the only wizard listed in the Chicago Yellow Pages and has been a paid consultant to the Chicago Police Department. Things have...escalated...from there.
  19. If Camp Cutie Mark goes forward it will be because Hasbro is only interested in a show that appeals to preschoolers.
  20. The site Comic Watch has posted an interview with writer Tee Franklin conducted by Chad Burdette. The article includes four more preview pages. The comic is scheduled to be released on February 19, 2025.
  21. We don't see a lot of pork pie in the USA. At least not as a store-bought product.
  22. I have not seen it confirmed anywhere that Camp Cutie Mark has been green-lit, much less that it's currently in production. Citation needed, donutmasterjoe!
  23. Two Page Preview Released for My Little Pony Comic: Sky's Secret by Sethisto (Equestria Daily)
  24. I just read it a little while ago. It's not bad, though I think the main conflict should have needed a little more effort to resolve. It also might have been a better story to have Cadance experience a bit more adversity as a Pegasus attending Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. The good news is that the backstory of Cadance is essentially the same one that's told in the chapter books Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell and Princess Cadance and the Spring Hearts Garden, but expanded out to her ascendance as an Alicorn and her first encounter with Twilight Sparkle.
  25. My Little Pony: Rise of Cadance is in comic shops today (or possibly next week if your shop is getting it through Diamond). Thoughts and opinions?
