Is Ultimate actually worth a damn? I bought Sm4sh day one on the Wii U and have never been more disappointed in my life. I avoided Ultimate like the plague due solely to this reason, since it seems like more of the same. Is it really true that you've gotta pay to even play online now? I mean, I had a Switch back in late 2018, but I sold the thing early this year. Never even considered paying for the online.

I haven't played s4 but I enjoy smash ultimate since no character is as busted as previous games. I took some time and I'm enjoying it, it really just depends on the person and what you expect from a game. If anything, I would try playing at a buddy's house to see if its worth for you. Yes you have to pay for the not even good online; I got 3 years though for Christmas (20 usd a year) but it still isn't an excuse. You get NES games but not a lot and only a few good ones. They said cloud saves but not supported on every game (like dark souls). Though I love my switch, I just wish nintendo didn't stoop low with all the indie trash too. 

Edit: also I forgot what a lot of people do is the family pack, $35 for 5 people I believe.
