  1. Mine is the Greek Psi symbol. It stands for the Schrodinger Wavefunction in quantum mechanics. I love physics, and I'm studying it at the moment in university
  2. That is, quite simply, a lie. People who genuinely believe that they are not 100% human are called Otherkin. I identify as a furry because I regularly interact with others via an anthropomorphic persona. I know that IRL, I'm a human.
  3. Ever notice how magical spells are usually spoken in rhyme in popular culture? We've associated rhyme with mystery and magic, and Zecara is a magical, mysterious foreigner. I highly doubt that a show so void of stereotypes would suddenly throw one in for a single character.
  4. I really don't think it is, for most. Have you heard of New Sincerity? What seems to be the main attraction to bronyism is the happiness it brings, the pure, unironic enjoyment people get out of it. I think that people who are bronies/pegasisters only ironically will quickly lose interest when the show isn't in the public mind any more. When you sincerely enjoy a show, or the culture surrounding it, it isn't a fad.
  5. Hells yeah! I focus on lower body, because of my fencing, but nothing beats good looking shoulders, in my opinion. I like looking good, so I like weightlifting
  6. Whenever I talk about the FiM fandom, I generally try to say "Brony/Pegasister" to be inclusive. Though the latter term doesn't seem too widespread outside of the community, I think that's because the general public think of the "stereotypical" FiM fandom member as an overweight, nerdy, male.
  7. I'm a furry and a brony, and I've come across the anti-brony/pegasister furs. No, I don't think it's a case of jealousy. Their fear/hatred of bronies/pegasisters comes from the same place as the fear/hate the general public sometimes feels. They're weirded out by the fact that we genuinely like a show with target audience much younger than ourselves. Not all furries identify with the kind of furries that the general public feels, so they feel that they're normal enough to be able to criticize the brony/pegasister community with free reign.
  8. She is totally best pony! Roleplay isn't all that attractive to me (some might add in a 'yet' there). I think I'll be hanging around the Show Discussion forums the most. If I learnt anything in my highschool Dramatic Arts classes, it's that all media is worthy of serious discussion, and can be a source of paradigm shifts. Thanks for the info! Yup, it's pretty off the beaten track! None of the shows are airing here (yet) but I honestly suspect that they will start soon because I've seen current-gen MLP merchandise (mainly figurines) on sale all over. In terms of TV series, South Africa generally lags behind the US by one or two seasons. Oh I hope so too! I'm looking forward to the friend-making! Oh yeah, I call Twilight 'Rarity' all the time P.S. I hope you don't mind that I didn't quote your posts' medias. I don't want to bloat a thread unnecessarily!
  9. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Rarity How did you find MLP Forums?: Google. I was searching for bronies/pegasisters in South Africa, and I came across an old post from here. How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I was introduced to it by an artist on dA. He streams quite a bit, and he's a brony. Welp, I'm just a guy living in South Africa. Studying physics at the University of the Witwatersrand. I really identify with the idea of New Sincerity, so MLP is very attractive to me. I identify as asexual so it's really pleasant to see a good show that doesn't have sexual over- or under-tones become so popular! I generally enjoy being around people that are happy, and I enjoy just being happy and spreading that happiness. That said, however, Pinkie Pie tires me out. Too much activity! I really like Rarity. I'm from a well-off family, but I enjoy sharing my blessings with others. ...reading through that, I realize that it sounds like I have some kind of autism-spectrum disorder. Just to let you know, I don't. I'm neurotypical.
