  1. I'm with rcollinz13. I live and breathe music. There is not one moment where some form of music (whether mine or someone else's) is running through my head. That, and I like writing fanfics. I'm working on one of those right now actually... And now that I mention music, I realize that I'm sitting here writing a remix for a large competition coming up in a few weeks. I'd reeeaaaally like to win, but I'm going up against some of the best in the business, so I'm a bit worried about my odds. In any case, it's been fun to write music over the last few months. Perhaps I'll make a thread about it later.
  2. Haha! Something I can actually relate to XD I live in the Great Northwest (or as I like to call it, the Great Northwet), and we get a ton of precipitation every year. Granted, most of the precipitation is rain, but we do see our fare share of snow during December through February. If the snow is light, it's not a hard task to find some higher mountain to go sledding/skiing/snowboarding on, but if there's a danger of heavy snow, most people stay inside. It's better have fun at home than to suddenly find yourself trapped away from home. I'm lucky I suppose, since we live in a very picturesque location. The house is on a small mountain that overlooks everything from us to the horizon, and even when it's not snowing down below us, it will sometimes drop some flakes on us. And because of that, most of us are prepared well in advance before a snow hits. For our family personally, we have at least three massive stacks of firewood spread around our property. Whenever we need more for the fireplace, you simply don a pair of boots, trudge out through the few inches/feet of snow, and drag some back. We also happen to live on a VERY steep hill, which makes for a great time blitzing down the slopes in a sled. There is also a hidden danger, because the speeds can get so fast that it's actually dangerous (especially with masses of blackberry vines covering parts of the hillside). We've actually set up a location where we jump off of the sleds so that we don't reach an uncontrollable speed. And as cool (no pun intended) as playing out in the snow is, one of my favorite things to do is to simply grab a cup of hot chocolate, set up a lawn chair on our back deck, and gaze out over the valley at the millions of tiny white flakes that grey out the horizon. It's like living in a snowglobe - and the snow makes for a very silent ambiance. I'm not exactly what part of the wintery weather you wanted to know about, but I'd be glad to help you if you need more! Winter is probably my favorite time of year, and I'm glad to see someone writing about an Equestrian winter
  3. I'm not going to state an exact age, but I would agree that a limit most likely exists somewhere. However, there are some amusing exceptions that can be made as well. For example: (Can this still be called "Trick or Treating"?): http://d24w6bsrhbeh9...649_700b_v1.jpg
  4. Unfortunately I haven't seen much in the way of MLP food, although they do share a vast majority of regular "human foods" with us here in real life. (Check it out: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Food_and_beverage/By_episode) I'm not sure if you're a big gamer or not, but The Gourmet Gamer has some awesome recreations of popular video game foods. Perhaps we and perhaps we can convince him to whip up some pony food...
  5. I could attempt to make one, but no promises I suggest going with a repeating gradient, so that it never looks out of place. YouTube BG's are a bit of a pain, since HTML runs background images in "tiles" - meaning it repeats left to right, and also from top to bottom. If the image is too small, it will loop partially, and if it's too big, you'll miss part of the image. The best options are to 1) have an HD background or 2) use a gradient. If you use a bi-linear, black to white gradient that's 1920x1 p (meaning full HD width, but only 1 pixel high), then at full screen, the left and right fringes of the window will be very dark, and it will slowly fade to white as you look towards the center. Here's an example of a bi-linear gradient: At that point, it doesn't matter how wide the window is - the gradient will be smooth at any given point. The center will be covered by the video/comments section, so you really won't see the absolute white line in the middle. (And note that you don't have to use absolute black and absolute white, you can use greys, colors, etc. as well.) I'm having a hard time describing this, but I hope this helps. I can make one really quick if you want to try it out. Just give me two colors, (one for the outside color, and one for the inside), and I'll render one for you. I'm not sure how familiar you are with hexadecimal color codes, but having two specific color codes would make life a lot easier. Check out this website if you want a quick choice: http://www.pagetutor.com/common/bgcolors1536.html
  6. Another new member like me! I think I enjoy seeing stories like that the most - an anti-brony-turned-brony. It's just so much fun to watch people slowly morph onto a person that loves neon colored ponies XD I've done that plenty of times to good friends of mine. I'm used to be a dead serious guy, so suddenly introducing the idea of ponies to friends was like introducing myself as an alien. It was totally out of character. Luckily for me, they're now addicted to MLP, so we have yet another thing to discuss as good friends. (Now that I think about it, there's still one straggler who has been procrastinating. I must go remind him...)
  7. Hmm. How should we do this...I think I'll start with the common questions, and work my way up to how I found MLP. Does that sound like a plan? Q) Cupcakes or Muffins? Ouch. That's hard. They're both good, but I think I like muffins better. They're less messy. That, and muffins are an any-time-of-day food. I think cupcakes have a certain "time" that they're appropriate, like parties or afternoon desserts. That said, with me being a college student, I'll eat most anything at any time of day. I just don't feel quite as "odd" eating a muffin at 5:30 in the morning as I prepare for my day. Q) Favorite Pony? Fluttershy. Or Luna. No, make that Fluttershy, but I really like Luna though. Actually, can I choose two? Q) What did you want to be when you "grow up"? Older. Q) Do you draw ponies? Let's put it this way: I'm pretty sure that when the "higher powers of the universe" were handing out talents, they gave my drawing ability to someone else. Oh, and I think they also gave away any singing ability that could have existed. Q) Have you written any fanfics? Yes. Q) Are you going to give us any links? Eh, um, I could...I wrote it a year ago, and after going back and reading it, I just shake my head and laugh. It's fascinating how much one's prose can develop over the course of time. Q) Any pony projects that you're working on? Yes actually. A friend and I are planning out a large scale project, and we have quite a few community and official MLP staff joining us. I'll post something later on when we have a definite plan. Q) How did you find MLP? MLP had been around for about a year - but I was just beginning to see the sudden spike in interest spreading across the web. I suppose it was just curiosity more than anything. I couldn't wrap my head around the idea that grown adults were partaking of a show aimed at little children (or so I thought). Over the course of a day, my train of thought went something like this: "Let's watch an episode." "Not bad, but it's two parts! Well, I can't leave the story hanging, so I guess I'd better watch part 2." "That wasn't too bad, might as well watch a third." "Hey, this is actually kind of enjoyable! I wonder what episode 4 is like..." "Hmm, my entire day disappeared. And was that the end of season 1? And WHY CAN'T THESE PONIES BE REAL?!?" Thus, I was hooked. This is getting a bit long, so I think I'll leave it as-is. If you have other questions, feel free to fire away! Hm...in the preview, my "How I found MLP" section was missing from the top, so I posted it in the main body. Now it's back. Oh well...
