Are there as many stallions as mares in Equestria?

Because I read that in wild horse herds the ratio of mares to stallions is 5:1!

It is possible that Hasbro took that fact into account when making the show. Or maybe it is because the show is directed around a female cast, so we wouldn't see many stallions in the show.

Maybe because the main cast are all female, it'd be obvious to see more female characters interact with females moreso than males.

It seems as though Ponyville has mostly mares, judging from the background ponies most often used. However, it looks pretty equal in the other places of Equestria that have been visited.

From the looks of it, I'd say 35-40% of Equestria consists of stallions.

My Little Pony is quite a feminist centered program, so it makes sense for there to be a higher count of mares to stallions.
