I need some help with getting new parts for my laptop.  Some new R.A.M., an S.S.D., and a C.P.U.  But should I change out my motherboard?  I don't know if the processor that I am getting is compatible with the current one, and I don't know the current one installed.  Also, I don't know that the new motherboard that I might get will be compatible with my laptop.

Current Specs:  Dell Vostro 2520 with an Intel Celeron (1.8 GHz), 2 Gb R.A.M., 256 Gb H.D.D.

Planned upgrades: Intel Core i7-4790K (4.0 GHz), 8 Gb R.A.M. (Crucial Ballistix Sport), 512 Gb S.S.D. (Crucial MX100)

Please help.

So you can't just upgrade laptops like that.

Those parts are for a PC. To upgrade a laptop you basically need to just buy a new one. If your willing to buy those parts, for a bit more you could buy a motherboard/fans/case and just go for a full self built PC.

The great thing about PC's is you can upgrade them, with laptops you basically can't, sorry.

Notebooks can be upgraded.  But only certain parts are compatible with that notebook.  Doesn't help me out.  :/

(except old models that have soldered-in parts)

They can be, but most laptops can't be upgraded or expanded like a desktop. Usually just the RAM and hard drive can be upgraded. The RAM and processor you are looking at are designed for desktops, btw.
