Being a brony between conservative people

Are you the only brony in your family/work/school/friends group? Do you live around conservative people who have prejudices about MLP ad bronies and see a guy (or in some weirder cases an older girl if you're a pegasister) who likes MLP as a weird person?

My mother once told me about an Adventure Time sweater she saw at a store and when I asked her if she saw a Rainbow Dash t-shirt and she said it would be weird seeing a guy wearing pony stuff :umad: she told that when my little sister saw the Fiona sweater (which BTW was unisex) she said: "Eeeeew! How can he want that? That's for girls!" and I thought that if she thinks that about Adventure Time stuff then what would she think about me wearing MLP stuff :( Recently i was playing MLP game in my phone when I was with my family and when someone asked what the music was about my mother said: "He's playing the most "masculine" game in the world!"

I'm the only Brony in my family, but I have quite a few Brony friends.

I've kept the fact that I'm a brony a secret from my Dad. I told my Mom and she thinks it's cool that I'm a brony. As for my dad, He's a rather conservative man. I was going to tell him about Bronies and that I was a Brony, but he sort of found out on his own. For the past few months, I've slowly started to collect MLP themed products, including two Funko figurines. A few days prior to him finding out, I ordered another Funko figurine to add to my MLP Collection, I ordered the Twilight one, via Amazon. I got it in the mail, unboxed it, and added Twilight to my collection. I have no idea how my dad missed the other MLP stuff I had, including a Rainbow Dash figurine that I got around Christmas. I've had my Rainbow Dash figurine on display on my nightstand for months, but as soon as I get Twilight... "Son? My Little Pony? Why My Little Pony?". So now I need to explain to him why I like MLP and explain to him the Brony community.

Well, I'm a conservative Brony, so maybe? Not all conservatives are baby hating monsters.

Anyways, my mother knows, but its a "Don't Ask Don't Tell" kind of thing. My dad doesn't know. He's 70 so I know he would have a hard time understanding the fandom and everything with it. It more goes along the line that everyone is different and you should only tell people you feel wouldn't take it badly.

This is particularly awkward for me. I don't think we have many bronies in the survivalist community.

Sig made by Kyoshi.

Cool things people have said about me:

Never heard of him but I guess just you mentioning him is a good reason not to go anywhere near that name.

(In reference to an author I suggested.)

Some of my immediate family is conservative, but those that know about my interests in MLP don't have any issue with it. Guess they don't fit into that type of mindset. Not sure what to say, other than be careful who you display it to, perhaps, and try to be reasonable about it so that they don't get any more negative ideas about the fans.

And to answer your initial question, I have older sister who is a fan of it so I really can't say I totally understand your situation, but that's all I have to suggest.
