Steel placed a wing over North's withers.

 

"Not a problem North. We shall eat now, then we can head to the suite." Steel lead North to a nice restaurant and paid for the meal as the owner knew Steel and always gave him a discount from saving his place of business from a protection racket. (True story. ) The two then headed for the castle to their accommodations for the evening.

"Thank ye for the meal... I be in thy debt..." he said, seeming more awake and full of energy than before.

"So this is the castle? We are going to live here? It looks like a small, pointy mountain with a few peaks... Impressive..." he said, looking straight up at it, casting a quick glance behind him before he moved on inside.

As DJ and Vinyl finally finished the ascent and stop near the entrance to Canterlot Castle, DJ collapsed. "Wow... Tat was such a long trot..." he panted.

 

"Oh, stop being such a wuss!" Vinyl replied with a giggle.

 

DJ chuckled. "Maybe if somepony carried their own luggage I wouldn't be so tired!"

 

"Now that wouldn't be very gentlecoltly now would it? Doesn't my strong, handsome coltfriend want to help his precious mare with her things?" She batted her eyelashes for effect, before sticking her tongue out.

 

*Sigh* "Of course, "precious"!" DJ said laughing. Just as they were about to enter the castle, two guards halted them. After DJ showed them he invite, the guards directed them to their adjacent rooms.

 

"Ooh! Fancy!" Vinyl said as they inspected her room. "I like it!" She then grinned at DJ slyly. "Hey, maybe we should share rooms?" She winked at her coltfriend, causing him to blush.

 

"But... I... Vinyl..."

 

"Hahaha! I'm only teasing silly!" Vinyl cried, giggling. "Anyway, we've got a big day tomorrow! I think we should call it a night! It's getting late"

 

DJ nodded, still a little red. "You're right Vi. I can't wait to see everybody tomorrow again!" Kissing her on the cheek, he smiled. "Night Vi! Love ya!"

 

"Love ya!" she replied. DJ closed the door and went off to his own room. After a short while unpacking he got into the plush four poster bed and looked up at the ceiling, thinking. He hadn't brought much, just his usual everyday items, plus the jewel he had found way back when he and his friends had explored the seas looking for home. It was a very important belonging to him, and he never went anywhere without it. He hoped the others felt the same way about theirs, maybe they even brought theirs with them too? He wasn't sure why, but he felt he HAD to bring it with him everywhere. Maybe there was something special about it? Maybe it was just for memories' sake? As he wondered all this, he started to fall asleep...

 

((OOC: just a suggestion, but maybe as we each sign off for the night our OCs could sleep too? That way we'd be ready for the coronation and preparation for it in the morning! ))

Blue Note dodged more ponies than usual on her way to the rehearsal hall for the orchestra. She had a sectional to run. Tourists always clogged up the streets whenever the royalty held an event; yet another thing she did not like about Canterlot. She pushed her annoyance down, and weaved around the slower walkers. 

 

She arrived early at the hall. Most of the ponies were late. Sometimes the woodwind section showed promise, but on this particular day, Blue Note found herself questioning if they would be able to pull anything together. After the rehearsal ended, she wondered if this was it. Would she ever be able to get a job that she actually wanted? 

 

"Blue Note, may I have a word?" 

 

Blue Note drew a short breath in before turning around to face the conductor. "Of course," she said, forcing her voice to stay even. "What do you need?"

 

"One of my colleagues from the Royal Orchestra has fallen ill. He's a clarinet player, and they're in dire need of somepony to fill in for his part for the coronation on such short notice. You're a capable clarinet player, so I thought I would ask you. You would need to learn the music by the tomorrow, but they'll pay one thousand bits for the gig. You would also be able to view the coronation from the inside of the castle. Are you interested?"

 

Blue Note's eyes lit up. "Yes, I could certainly manage that." This was one of the best opportunities she had ever been offered. There were so many talented musicians she would play with, and she would get payed a nice sum to do it. 

 

"I knew you would," he said with a smile. "Here's the music." He slid a folder towards her. "The information about the dress rehearsal tomorrow beforehand is in there as well." Blue Note put the folder in her bag for safekeeping. 

 

"Thank you," she said, before he walked away. 

 

"Of course." He merely nodded at her before going off on whatever business he had. 

 

Blue Note felt like a symphony was playing just for her as she walked back out onto the busy streets. She hurried home, eager to practice the music. There was no room for error here. She made sure not to over-exert herself, but she also made sure she would play well the next day. 

 

As Blue Note drifted off to sleep, she wondered if life was finally going her way.

"Red... Talon," the attractive young concierge read aloud as she fumbled through the bookings. "...ah! Here you are! Room 2088 (I'll give you a cookie if you can guess why I chose that number)!"

She slid the roomkey across the counter.

"You need this for access to your room," she explained, "and also for the swimming pool, the workout facilities, the pool hall, the-"

"I think I get it," Red interrupted with a slight smile, "thank you, ma'am."

Red nodded and made his way to the elevators, leaving the blushing concierge at her desk.

"Sorry for rambling on," she shouted to him as he neared the elevators. Red replied with a wink and a smile, an expression that clearly read "don't worry about it; I don't judge." The elevator rose to the top floor of the hotel, and Red watched from the elevator's glass wall as the ponies and buildings shrunk to toys.

"Twenty Eighty-Eight," he mumbled aloud as the doors opened with a "ding." He fumbled his keycard as he trotted to the room, unlocking it, and plopping himself onto the bed, throwing his luggage into the corner. It was still in the afternoon, but Red still found himself groggy, unable to catch a nap on the noisy train. Not even on a six hour train ride could he have caught even a tiny snooze!

"Pathetic," he thought. But at this point, it was what Red had been waiting for all day, after he was so rudely awakened. Just him and a comfortable bed, nothing more, and certainly nothing less! He stretched out his body as he lay on the matress, taking in blissbul breaths as he threw the blankets over his body.

Stargazer looked at the clock. "A busy day for you tomorrow, Princess Clover," she joked. "So I think you had better go to bed early!"

 

Clover pushed her. "Now, don't you be getting all formal! I know you're just teasing me. Tho you're right, of course; it wouldn't do for me to fall asleep during my own coronation." Clover yawned. "I think I will get an early night."

 

"See you in the morning!" Stargazer replied. "I'll come and help you dress."

 

The pegasus mare slipped away, and Clover was left alone in her apartments. She felt very nervous about the ceremony the next day, and hoped that all her friends would be there. She thought about the jewel that she had gotten during the Odyssey; at first, she had had it cast in a necklace, now, after a request to Princess Celestia, it was to be her crown. Somehow, that felt right. Clover switched off the lamps by magic, lay down in bed and fell into a deep sleep.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!" DJ cried, as he woke with a start, rolling away and falling off the bed. "Wha!?! Wha...?" He then frowned as he saw the figure of his marefriend rolling on the floor laughing. "Very funny..."

 

"You should've seen the look on your face, DJ!" Vinyl said, giggling. "Didn't realise you were such a scaredy cat!"

 

"I'm sure you would've been just as scared if I'd crept into your room and done that to you!"
 

"Nah! I don't think so! Anyway, you'd better hurry up! It's not long til the coronation begins!"

 

Getting up, DJ looked at the clock. "Oh! You're right! I'd better get ready! I'll see you in a bit!" As Vinyl left the room in search of breakfast, DJ hurried about the room, washing, finding his glasses and making sure everything was in check. "Don't want to look bad at the coronation..." he thought to himself as he got ready. As he was leaving, he chuckled. "Boy, the others sure are in for a surprise!"

Red found himself waking without the need for an alarm, which was understandable judging by his rather early bedtime. He rolled out of bed, not even looking at the time. It was still a little dark out, leaving him somewhat confused until he glanced at the clock, which read 4:12 AM. He lay back in his bed, trying to pass the time away, but he just couldn't fall back asleep! He tried everything, from counting sheep in his head, to humming the most monotonous song he knows, to shoving pillows onto his face, but nothing worked.

"Hmmph," he growled, "May as well kill time in the workout room."

Sterling knew he was running out of time to get going to Canterlot. He had forgotten about the coronation Clover was going to have! He didn't even think to see how shocked Evening may have been at the sight of Sterling being so surprised! After rushing to his closet and grabbing all his clothes, he quickly rushed towards the bathroom and took a shower as quickly as he could. He remembered the Manehattan train set to leave for Canterlot in 3 hours... Luckily, they still had enough time to travel to Canterlot today... But would he be able to get any place to sleep? If he were lucky, perhaps he'd be able to stay at the glorious Canterlot Castle where the coronation was set to take place! But he didn't want to take his chances... All he was thinking about now was making it to Canterlot in time for tomorrow's Coronation!

Clover woke up in plenty of time the next morning. As she was having breakfast, she glanced at the clock. No need to worry, there was lots of time to do everything she needed to do. Her dress was ready; a silk creation in purple and sapphire blue. Soon, everypony would be arriving, including those of her friends who hadn't been able to get down the day before.

Blue Note blinked open her eyes as the weak sunlight trickled in through her window. It was earlier than she preferred to wake up, but she had places to be. After making a pot of coffee, she put on her black concert attire and worked on putting her mane into an intricate braid. She had to make a good first impression. Once presentable, Blue Note headed out the door and into the bustling Canterlot morning. This was going to be quite the day.

After somehow managing to sleep that night, North woke as his appointed room in the castle begun to light up... The day earlier, after having a look around town with Steel, he was to be escorted to his room. However, on the way, some guards had stopped them, and he had been forced to take a bath and have some grooming before let in any further.

He had been given a smaller room with a single window facing away from the sun rise - one of the few they had. Walking from the bed and over to the window, he sat down in the window frame.

 

"We are going to have some fun today, eh?" he giggled.

 

"I guess ye should come along... The others seem to be pretty much dagvandrere like you, and unlike me." he said, before turning around and heading for the door, walking out into the hall outside his room.

As DJ and Vinyl made their way to the banquet hall for breakfast, they kept looking around them in awe at the beautiful sculptures, chandeliers and stained glass windows that filled the hallways. Upon reaching the banquet hall, DJ recognised a familiar face. "Clover!" he cried. Galloping over, he stopped and suddenly remembered his friend was about to become a Princess. "uhh... I mean... Good morning, Princess Clover!" he said, bowing to her. "It's nice to see you again! It's been so long, and you probably didn't even know I was still alive!"

@, Clover didn't bother with social niceties, she just ran at DJ and hugged him. "Princess Celestia told me you were, so that I'd send you an invite," she said, "But I knew I'd never believe it til I saw you for myself! And don't call me Princess; just Clover will do. After all, I'm still the same old pony I ever was before."

DJ hugged Clover back and smiled. "I'm glad to hear that, Clover!" he replied. "It's a funny story that, but I think I'll leave it til a time when everypony else can hear too!" he added with a grin. "I can't wait for the coronation! I'll bet you're really excited to finally be crowned a princess!"

@, "Really excited, but nervous, too," Clover admitted. "Princess Celestia told me that my official title will be Princess of Magic. That's a lot to live up to. I just hope that I can do this. Of course, there's nothing I can't do as long as I have my friends by my side." Clover smiled at DJ and Vinyl.

"I agree!" DJ added. "You've nothing to worry about! We'll all be here for you! Speaking of the others, have you seen anypony else yet, or are we first to have met you?" DJ looked around, checking to see if any of the others were about. "Don't tell me we're the first ones here!" he said with a chuckle.

Slowly trudging through his daily routine, Red Talon slid into his formal attire, obsessively checking his bow-tie.

"This might suffice," he mumbled to himself as he trotted down the hallway. When he finally reached the castle for the coronation breakfast, he found himself walking through a sea of strangers, and finally, a few ponies he has been longing to see for quite some time. But one of those ponies he hadn't seen in awhile, but no! He was dead, he though. Or was he? He trotted closer and saw the musical note on his flank, and his signature neon blue hair. It had to be him!

"DJ!" Red almost shouted, "But... I... I... I'm just so glad to see you again!"

Turning, DJ smiled as he noticed an old friend coming up to him. "Red!" he cried happily as the other pegasus approached. "I'm glad to see you too! It's been a while hasn't it?" He chuckled. "Sorry you guys still thought I was dead! I probably should have said something!"

"Yes," Clover said, nudging DJ. "You should have said! I hope the others will be here, soon. My Trottingham friends are going to be attending, too."

 

At that moment, Stargazer appeared and walked over to Clover, who then introduced her to DJ and Red. "Morning Glory's just arrived," Stargazer said with a smile. "She's just freshening up."

 

Morning Glory was a unicorn, with a periwinkle coat and a pale pink and blue mane and tail. Surprisingly for a unicorn, she specialised in weather magic. She often minded Clover's home when Clover took a holiday.

"Sorry about that! Won't happen again though! I don't plan on kicking the bucket any time soon!" he said with a laugh. "I hope the others do turn up soon! It'll be nice to see them all again!" When Stargazer and Morning Glory appeared, DJ smiled and nodded a hello. "Nice to meet you, Stargazer and Morning Glory!"

North walked around, looking for wherever there would be food. After searching for a little while, he stumbled upon a big room with multiple other ponies, and what seemed like a bunch of food.

 

"Found it..." he said, entering the hall. Right behind him though, another pony, VERY similar to him walked in as well. It was a little taller, and with brighter colours of fur and mane, and its mane were also slightly longer than North's.

 

"Are we allowed to eat any of this?" he said to the other. "Probably. I mean, it IS full of food and ponies... Not enough of other things though." it said, its voice very similar to North's, though a little lighter.

 

"I will have a go and look around for others I might know... You can go and eat if ye wish." North said to the other, before walking into the crowd.

 

"Oh, I will." the other said, before walking in the other direction.
