What drawing tablet to buy?

To date all of my digital artworks were done with a mouse and I have been thinking about how much faster I may possibly be able to finish them with a tablet. So my questions are:

-What is a decent drawing tablet for about $100?

-Does it matter much whether you use a small or large tablet?

-How long does it take to actually get used to using a drawing tablet? I have tried using one before and it felt quite strange to be drawing on the tablet but having the actual image appear elsewhere.

Are there any particular specs I should be looking at when comparing tablets or is it not really applicable to lower end tablets? And I am curious on how long it took some of you who have used tablets to get used to using one.
