Exactly what it says on the tin! What do you think? I mean it would be a fantastic Mass multiplayer! And to be able to customize your own character improves that opinion! What do you think?

It's only speculation, but that's what a lot of people are expecting. The game looks like it'll be heading that route and I hope that it goes that way since I think it'll be good for it

The game already plays a lot like an MMO anyway but I prefer having them not put multiplayer in my RPGs. I hate the fact that instead of using an established character like Shulk they have you creating a character. Hate it, hate it, hate it.

 

That said, it's a distinct possibility that they made this decision for that purpose. It's gonna be White Knight Chronicles all over again.

Really? I didn't like the fact that they had you customize a character in White Knight Chronicles knowing he\she had no real relevance. But I rather enjoy the Xenoblade Chronicles X theory. Maybe there multiple story modes?

That's precisely my problem. By having you create a character they are leaving interpretation of the character up to the player. I hate that so much. It takes away from the storytelling and adding in multiple versions of the story doesn't change that. It's taking away from the experience. I wouldn't make such a big deal out of it if it were a standalone game but this is the sequel, even if only spiritually, to a game that had established characters already and now they are gonna take that away with this new installment.

Hmm.. I understand. I was hoping they would change it to main story with established characters and then an online version of it.

Doubtful. From the looks of the trailer the one you create is your character for the game, online or offline.

However, given the open world nature of the previous Xenoblade and the new one, not to mention previous Xenoblade X trailers, there could certainly be a online multiplayer component where you could quest together with other players in these open environments. It would certainly be a welcome edition, and most certainly optional.
