Yesterday, June 23rd, 2014, marked the 23rd anniversary of the Sega Genesis game "Sonic the Hedgehog"
So in a way, it's kind of Sonic's birthday as well. Well, belated birthday more like, but I totally dusted off my old genesis yesterday to play the original Sonic the Hedgehog Game.

That said, Happy 23rd birthday Sonic!
23 years of great games, and I look forward to many more.

I honestly hope Sonic can return to glory. So good luck to him.

 

Also as a fan of Sonic that last pic was sweet.

I loved it too, that's why I put it in.

Who doesn't want Sonic, Rainbow, Twilight, and Shadow to kick some ass?

Also, I believe that Sonic has already returned to glory.

Have you played Sonic Generations? Or Sonic Lost World?

I didn't really care for Sonic / the Sonic video games at first; I was always a Mario guy (still am).  It was us high-jumping mustachioed plumbers against those speed-obsessed blue hedgehogs. xD  I played some of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as a kid, and it was enjoyable.  Mucked about in a Sonic game on a friend's Gamegear for the three minutes the batteries lasted lol.  It wasn't until Sonic Adventure that I started to genuinely like the games.  Sonic Adventure 2: Battle is one of my faves.  Also quite enjoyed Sonic: Lost World, and I'll probably pick up Sonic Boom.  I'm glad that, nowadays, Sega is an ally to Nintendo rather than a rival.  Seeing Sonic and Mario competing in the olympic games or duking it out in Smash Bros. is a good thing.

 

So I WILL wish Sonic a happy birthday (though I'm more a Rouge the Bat fan, admittedly lol).  And I hope his fans have more great games to play in the future.  Plumbers and hedgehogs unite!!1!

I was a Mario fan at first too.

Infact, I was a huge fan of both equally growing up.

But I totally respect your opinion, there.

How did I miss that? For shame. XD

Have you played Sonic Generations? Or Sonic Lost World?

 

Well i haven't 'played' them,but ive seen non commentated playthroughs of both and i liked them,especially generations.

 

The last sonic game i 'played' was Sonic Adventure 2 for Dreamcast lol  :muffins:

I only own the GameCube remake of SA2 and the PSN HD Port.

I never played the original dreamcast release.

Man i wish the Dreamcast din't bomb,maybe Sonic would've been better off. Owell lol.

I have my Dreamcast,but i don't know where the wires or controllers went after all these years. :muffins: 

Its just more of ornament next to my other consoles now.  :P

That's funny, I still have my wires and my controllers.

I was able to hook it up but none of the Dreamcast controllers I have (I have 3) Don't work anymore.

But my Dreamcast system sure as hell works.

That's funny, I still have my wires and my controllers.

I was able to hook it up but none of the Dreamcast controllers I have (I have 3) Don't work anymore.

But my Dreamcast system sure as hell works.

Only thing i can do is turn mine on,no other cables are available.  :P

Tho i have one of the memory cards for the controller,yet i have no clue where the controller is.  ^_^

I'm not that into Sonic these days. I haven't bought Lost World yet and I don't know if I will. But Sonic Adventure 2: Battle will always be one of my favorite games.

I have both copies of Sonic adventure 1 and 2 for the Dreamcast and GameCube. The reason why the Dreamcast bombed wasn't solely the Ps2, it was a combination with the failure of the Sega CD, Sega 32x, Sega Gamegear, and especially the Sega Saturn. By the time they released the Dreamcast, they were pretty much on their deathbed after the Saturn was flopping. The Saturn was supposed to be released a year after it was originally released. Because of that, many developers' time was cut about half or more but also the Saturn was harder to develop for than the PlayStation and Nintendo 64 mainly because it rendered quadrilaterals. This also made retailers upset about that and refused to sell anything Sega related for a little bit after their previous blunders; Of course, Sonic owes his existence to Mario. Naoto Ōshima loved Mario and even stated he wanted a game like Mario but faster and to compete with Nintendo's Mascot, Mario. But other than that, I loved Sonic (along with Mario) a ton when I was a child (and still do) and still play his games on my GameCube, Sega Genesis, and Dreamcast (although the Dreamcast makes loud noises when reading a disc, lol).
